Best meal I’ve had in a long time. Everything was delicious, we had the 10-course tasting menu. The service was absolutely fantastic. Our server Eric was so helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I cannot recommend this place enough.
We really enjoyed Juniper. They had so many nice touches to their restaurant to make it a wonderful experience. We enjoyed how the wait staff made sure our water was constantly filled and they explained each course as they brought it to us. The food was delicious and creative in flavors and presentation. Highly recommend!
Really incredible services. Havent had that great of service anywhere in Austin. Great wine recommendations, food was great for the price point.
We did the 10 course tasting meal and while 3-4 dishes were really delicious, I do not know if it was worth the 3+ hour experience was worth it. The service was terrible and several time we had to flag them down for a new drink or to take away our plates. I do not think we would return again.
Food is amazing. Service was great. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to come back.
Quickly becoming one of our favorite restaurants in Austin!
Amazing food, great Covid precautions, staff was excellent.
What an experience! We had the prefix menu and everything was incredible. My favorite dishes were the cacio e pepe and the ribeye which was perfectly cooked. My fiancé’s favorite dishes were the lobster ravioli and puffy potatoes. They recommended the Occhipinti SP68 and it was delicious!! I highly recommend everyone going there for a night now with your loved ones.
I surprised my wife with a weekend trip from Chicago to Austin just so we could go to Juniper for her birthday! We absolutely love Juniper, both the delicious food and incredible service! If you have never been, you must try!!
Amazing atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, and great service!
We had the prefix dinner and we really enjoyed the variety. We were celebrating my wife's birthday. It was a perfect evening, fantastic service and they even printed my wife's name on the menu, plus a little gift at the end. Just a great meal, everything was excellent. We will definitely return.
Great hosting and presentation. Very COVID conscious seating and service
Absolutely delicious. Outstanding food. Friendly staff. Unique and tasty selection of drinks. Gnocchi and scallops were so good. Also had 3 delicious appetizers but can't remember what they were called. Puffy potatoes, a focaccia bread with olives, and some cheesy dip with toasted bread. Covid conscious. Ate outside on patio with heaters.
Food was fantastic and service was stellar. We ate outside on the patio and felt totally safe.
Birthday dinner
Juniper was great! They provided a wonderful experience for our anniversary and were very accommodating to any dietary needs. Staff was lovely, safe, & we felt comfortable sharing our celebration there. Thank you, Juniper team!
They did everything right.... except the food. Unremarkable, bland, and in a couple cases, just not attractive flavors. Both me and my date, who got different dishes than me, were moderately displeased with the food, namely the pasta, entree, and salad. Shame, because the service was excellent, the ambience and layout were tasteful and modern. I even liked the dishware and clean bathroom! So because of those factors, overall my date and I had fun despite the not-so-tasty food. Maybe we just don't understand hip italian cuisine *shrugs* but I'd be doing a disservice if I didn't say anything.
Outstanding ambiance, relaxing, and amazing attention to detail
It was lovely! We felt very taken care of and safe at the same time.
Outstanding Food and awesome service. We were there for an anniversary and the staff went above and beyond to acknowledge our special day. We were provided with Champagne upon being seated and they even customized our menu with references to our anniversary. We will definitely be going back on a regular basis and will be recommending Juniper to everyone we know.
The staff at Juniper went above and beyond when I brought in my girlfriend for her birthday! To my surprise at the end of our dinner the kitchen gifted her a small birthday package with all types of goods! In addition to the delicious meal; the menus had “Happy Birthday ____!” printed onto them. I would highly recommend Juniper to someone looking to gift a wonderful dining experience.
We celebrated our anniversary at Juniper, and it could not have been more perfect. They went above and beyond to make sure we felt special celebrating with them. The food was outstanding, as was our waiter. We cannot wait to celebrate there again!
Eric was amazing. Well informed and gave great recommendations.
Absolutely insane. So so good.
My experience at Juniper was phenomenal! I took my girlfriend for her birthday dinner and we had a fabulous night. The atmosphere was intimate and the staff was top notch. They wished her happy birthday by name upon arrival and personalized the menu for her. We did the 5 course pre fixe menu and loved it. I had the puffy potato, the little lettuce, the cacio e pepe, the 44 farms teres major, and the affogato for dessert. Everything was excellent, full of flavor, and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this restaurant and it is now one of my favorites in Austin.
A beautiful restaurant with excellent service and knowledgeable staff. We had a 5 course meal, wine paired perfectly by our waiter. Some dishes were a bit over salted. But otherwise the dishes were satisfactory. Great portions and nice variety.
Would I recommend the place - yes. Would I do the tasting again, no.
The good:
First - the food. The food is pretty incredible. I didn't necessarily fall in love with every dish as is almost always the case with a 10 course tasting but damn some of that stuff was unbelievable so bravo to the kitchen staff and chef.
The bad:
To me, a tasting is all about the experience and I felt like they came in far short in terms of presentation. You have to think, if someone comes in and wants a tasting its because they are making a commitment for the full experience and everything the restaurant has to offer. The plates were often poorly timed with big gaps of time in between and you could hardly make out what they were saying about the dishes. We get people are wearing masks but felt like a lot of the times they were whispering.
It took a really long time for us to get drinks - even just a glass of wine would take 15-20 minutes and we'd go through a couple of courses between getting the drink. Worst of all is the fact that you can see the bar from where you are sitting and could see they were often just standing around chit chatting with one another so that was annoying.
The atmosphere was strange - it is very dark and cold in the restaurant. It almost makes you sleepy because there is nothing really going on, there is no center piece or attention getter in there and just did not feel like that fun exciting place you head to on a weekend. Felt sterile and cold.
Anniversary. Rey made our celebration very special.
They have certain dishes that are excellent such as their potato, scallops and dessert, however, they need to revamp their pasta menu... everything was way too salty and made my tongue hurt and the steak was just alright... their coffee was extremely expensive at $7/cup and overall our bill was $250 and we have paid much less at other upscale local Italian restaurants and had much better food.
Had a great experience at Juniper for my birthday. We all did the 5 course prefixe menu and the portions and flavors were great!
Food was good, but not phenomenal. I found myself thinking I’ve had better, hell, I’ve MADE better. If you go, I suggest the lavender gelato or the last item on the dessert menu (zep-something). They’re known for their puffy potatos, but I again, I wasn’t amazed.
Service gets a full five stars because they were able to move us inside (though it was kind of loud). They had heat lamps at every table, but after about 40 minutes or so the wind had picked up and it just wasn’t enough for 45 degree weather wearing only a, rather thin, dress (my friend had stolen my jacket from me, truthfully she needed it more than I.)
We decided to do the prefix menu, and the pacing was good, though I wished they’d brought out the complimentary bread a little sooner. The server (Eric) was wonderful and very sweet.
I might come back for a celebration, but I don’t think I’ll come back just to come back. The food just wasn’t ‘wow’ enough for $65 a person. And while the portions were small, I was full by the end of the night.
Overall, I give Juniper 4 stars. Not a bad restaurant by any means, and great if you’re looking to dress up and have a sense of normalcy for a moment.
P.s. I would go back just for the gelato.
They went out of their way to make our anniversary special. We will definitely be returning here again!
As a special date night Juniper did not disappoint. Covid measures were great. I opted for the prefixed menu. The puffy potatoes were amazing. Greens salad was great. So was the donut like dessert. We didn't care for the gnocchi, or the chicken. My Husband had the steak. Our server was amazing. The wine was wonderful. The two tables by the kitchen, were too loud for our date night. We did enjoy our experience though.
Restaurant is attempting to be something that Austin is not, it is much too uptight especially for the part of town it is in. Food is mediocre at best and portions are small for the pre-fixe menu, the service was slow as well.
We sat outside, so the ambiance level didn't quite match how beautiful the dining room is, but the service was great. They made sure we were warm enough.
It was beautiful 🤍
best experience in US.
I am Italian and I have to say I felt at home
Ambience was very nice. Feels like a hidden gem! Will recommend it to anyone in Austin
The service and food at Juniper was incredible. It was my 5 year anniversary with the misses really knew how to make the evening memorable and go the extra mile to make your time with them special. Also, and equally important, the food was divine.
Great meal for a special occasion or if you are feeling like treating yourself!!
