Celine was amazing, knowledgeable and kind. The food and wine was wonderful.
Great flavors and service. Looking forward to my next visit.
Amazing experience from arrival to paying the bill. There is a calm in the kitchen regardless of how busy it got. Delicious food and worth every penny. If you get the chance to sit at the chef’s table I highly recommend.
Dinner with cousins.
Family meal with college-age son who is going to UCSD. Quick, friendly, knowledgeable service with inventive food. Apologies this is nearly 24 hours after the fact and I didn’t take notes so details are a bit fuzzy. The amuse was an adorable merengue flavored with truffle. The waitress was terrific in guiding us in how much to order. We got 3 appetizers (oysters, spicy tuna hand roll, duck arancini), 4 small plates (black cod, bolted cauliflower, charred snap peas, lamb bucatini carbonara), and 1 main plate (hamachi crudo) for a family of 4; I think the boys also ordered dessert. Everything was perfectly cooked and the flavors were unexpected and fun. Pacing of the meal was perfect. We inhaled it all. The bolted cauliflower was a favorite, even though the brood are generally carnivores—it was that good!
This was our furst visit and we were celebrating our anniversary. The server was awesome as he helped me navigate through the menu with my food allergies. The entire staff was on point and we had a very enjoyable dinner!
This place is definitely worth skipping if it is on your list of restaurants to try.
Food and service were amazing I’ll go back any time
The food was excellent and Paul was great. I always recommend.
Our favorite restaurant in San Diego, it never disappoints!
Fairly large establishment with a great, bustling open kitchen--this place is well-run and the team is very talented. Varied menu selection, we found things to please everyone. Really well paced service.
Out of town guests
Absolutely loved this restaurant! The Finding Nori and Tijuana Day Trip were perfect drinks. The sea urchin, spicy tuna, and the lamb neck tortellini were delicious. I had a great dining experience here. I'll try seating at the chef table next time.
Tip: Come at your reservation time with your whole party or you will not be seated until your party has arrived (keep in mind for friends that tend to run late). Drinks: Cocktail list left me hoping for more, so I decided to go with wine for the night. Good selection of wines by the glass and bottle. Food: Had the beef tartare (good and flavorful), something described as bao buns but in reality they were mini sausages/corndogs (sub par), and Chanterelle mushroom rigatoni (group favorite by far) . We wanted to order entrees, but the server was no where to be found for a long time, so we decided to go elsewhere for the main meal. What we did have was good, the ambiance and people watching fun, but service ruined the experience. Might try again down the road, but for now, I wouldn't recommend.
This is probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had!!!
This was the most fun I've had in trying a new restaurant. Food was delicious, staff was attentive, and the venue itself is beautiful. This is my new standard in judging food.
Repeat customer - food was exceptional and service was so for about 75% of our time. End of the service was not as prompt as we enjoyed from the inception of our time with the restaurant. Will visit again!
This was an experience I will never forget! The food, service and chef were outstanding! I will recommend this to everyone and be back whenever possible.
Juniper & Ivy offers an exquisite eating and drinking experience. We visit every time we find ourselves in San Diego. Highly recommended.
Wonderful meal and service. Kyle took excellent care of us and the meal was one of the best we have ever had. A very memorable experience!
Kyle did a terrific job guiding us through the menu and the wine list. The service was attentive yet relaxed. The food was beautiful as well as tasty. We enjoyed everything we had and we did our best to try as many items as we could ! When you are in San Diego ---- check them out!
Excellent meal enjoyed by all. Can't speak to value, as I didn't pay (or see) the bill, but the survey wouldn't let me go past without rating.
Food here was great. Good cocktails as well. The atmosphere and decor is casual but elegant. You can go dressed up or dressed down. Staff was very friendly. Only issue was the service was a bit slow. The restaurant was packed so I couldn't tell if that was the reason or the kitchen was just having issues. Server was very friendly though. I think he knew things were getting missed so I think the issues were with the kitchen that night. I don't expect it would be a consistent issue. Both food and service were still good enough that I would definitely go back to know for sure.
Food great. Server very nice. But food took forever. There for 2.5 hours
Excellent service and food quality; the server was especially accommodating to the dietary restrictions of our party!
While the menu sounds intriguing, the execution misses. Charred snap peas, described as having a wasabi sauce and fresh grated wasabi atop, seems to have never been in the same kitchen with wasabi. Tried 4 small plates - not a single “wow”. While there’s clearly inventive thought in the menu, the execution of it is lacking. Service was officious and rushed. I wanted to like it based on reviews I read, but sadly, I wouldn’t return to or recommend Juniper & Ivy.
Creative and well executed dishes in a funky and lively atmosphere.
The decor and ambiance at this restaurant is amazing. The food however has always been sub par which is disappointing. Several of us order sea bass, but were unknowingly served a very small portion of black cod. 2 totally different seafoods, and value. The portion was very small to boot. The prawns were way over cooked. Oysters were great.
Great food and excellent service! Cocktails are also very good. You cannot go wrong here!
We had a really poor eating experience. Very few choices for our allergy needs. Also, the available selections were uncreative, and way over priced for the medium quality.
It was a great experience. Both the food and service was amazing.
the last time we ate here i was underwhelmed with the food but this time they got back to what i remember about juniper + ivy: lots of interesting dishes with lots of flavor. our waiter was very pleasantly understated, but prompt & accommodating. my only criticism of the restaurant as it has been from the beginning is that it is one of the loudest restaurants i have ever eaten in.
This place lived up to every expectation - food and service was excellent! I highly recommend getting a selection of bites and small plates to taste a variety of items on the menu. Will definitely be back
Beautiful restaurant and excellent food! Great date night/special occasion restaurant. We spend our anniversary and loved it! Order the Yodel dessert! You won’t regret it!
Third time at this restaurant and it never disappoints. Aged Strip Steak was delightful. Service impeccable and ambiance outstanding. It is a bit noisy but that’s ok considering everything else.
Great experience, food and service excellent outdoor seating quiet at early evening inside preferable
My favorite restaurant in San Diego- go a few times a year and the service and food is always top notch.
Every dish we had was fantastic - totally worth the hype and definitely want to come back again!
Great food. Everything we tried was exceptional. A bit expensive but a good special occasion place.
