The Mr. Pink drink was great, also the baby artichokes starter. Other dishes were good but not great. Service and atmosphere were great.
Went for birthday celebration which we noted in our reservation. Many place do not even read the special notes but Juniper did! So my friend felt very special as she was recognized upon arrival and throughout dinner. Thank you!
The food and service were incredible. Couldn’t have asked for a better birthday dinner for my husband. It was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time. We’ll definitely go back!
It’s not a cheap date, but a great upscale dining experience.
Excellent service excellent food and a wonderful environment
Great evening out with the girls for my birthday!
Service and food was some of the best I have had in the world. Highly recommended!
Great meal. Really creative, tasty food. Service was excellant.
Amazing food and service! Saul really took good care of us on our special occasion!
My husband and I were wowed by the food, which is a couple levels above most fine restaurants in San Diego. If you can afford it (prices reflect the artistry and ingredients), absolutely don't miss it!
Incredible service and amazing food!!
We went all out and had the most memorable evening.
Our server was top notch and lovely all the way around.
It was a perfect night for our bday girl turning 21!
Everything was spectacular
We had an amazing experience. The food was delicious and well prepared. The space felt chic and modern, yet welcoming and warm. Our waiter created a menu for us which was perfect! We also tried two bartender drinks which we tasty and strong. It's well worth the price.
Amazing food and service. Great for date night!
We sat outside and the atmosphere was perfect. Our serving was extremely knowledgeable, I believe her name was Kasey, my girlfriend has a gluten allergy and Kasey was able to fully accommodate us.
Good food good service. Did not like rabbit loin as sauce did not match the meat. Everything else was fabulous. We went for our anniversary and the menu had a nice personal message. Lovely. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff. Will go again and have already recommended.
What an amazing meal!! We come back to Juniper and Ivy every time we visit from Seattle, and this time we came twice!! Everything was delicious and beautiful, both times!!
Excellent food, excellent service - a bit too loud but it seems that most resturants strive for that, which is really too bad as I enjoy being able to have a conversation with the people at my table. Nonetheless, the duck was some of the best I've ever had and the service was top notch. Wouldn't hesitate to go again.
We were in town for 2 nights for our honeymoon!! My family has been in the restaurant business for 42 years now. All i can say is WOW!! THIS PLACE WAS/IS PHENOMENOL!!! PERFECTION on the seasoning of everything we had!!! I’m a HUGE salt addict and didn’t need to ask for seasoning AT ALL!!! On ANYTHING! Our server was the absolute BEST! Very personable. NEVER seemed rushed at all! And even spiked up a conversation. Very personable! All around A+!!! THANK YOU FOR THE OUTSTANDING FOOD!
Outstanding food and service! We had a wonderful evening. Small plates are delicious.
Great food. Even better service.
Consistently one of the best and most inventive restaurants I've been to.
Great food. Server took care of us. Selected our dishes. It was a completely hassle free enjoyable experience.
Fantastic! Everything was so great!
This was our first time at Juniper and Ivy. We were visiting from the East Coast. I had heard so much about this gorgeous and stylish restaurant the past few years and had listened to, and read, many rave reviews about its very innovative California Cuisine. And I see why! Absolutely wonderful, creative and beautifully prepared food! And the ambiance is enrapturing. We dined all night--4 hours went by so quickly. Staff was so relaxed and accommodating--we never wanted to leave. The chocolate yodel dessert certainly topped the food fest! Thank You, Juniper and Ivy! Extremely Well Done
The food was excellent and innovative and the service was attentive. This is one of my favorite restaurants in San Diego.
Outstanding, an all around 5 star experience! Reservation was ready on time, wait staff was attentive and informative and it's impossible to choose a favorite dish. Shared 3 bites bites and 3 small plates for 2 people. Next time, I would probably concentrate on small plates and save more room for dessert.
While the menu changes daily, this is what we had:
Bites: asada with quail egg, halibut handroll, yellowtail.
Small plates: Urchin with potato (yummy dill), lamb bolognese, charred broccolini.
Dessert: banana with salted caramel
OH and the biscuit. You MUST have the biscuit; smoked butter is a revelation.
Well done, J&I, we will be back!
We brought family here after picking them up from the airport.
Food was unique, but many dishes were over salted. Definitely noisy and the temperature was really cold. I would go back for the bar and small plates.
If you are looking for a "WOW" dining experience, this restaurant is for you.
Sharing small plates is the way to go in order to sample as many dishes as possible. Each ingredient is not only fresh, but presented in such a unique way that the ordinary becomes extraordinary.
I've been here twice and both my experiences were nothing short of amazing! The duck and ribeye are delicious! Beware that they only sell a certain amount of duck to per day, so go early if you plan on having the duck!
Get the rockfish sashimi. It's divine
Meal took 3 hours.. Place was not full on Friday night. Food was delicious. Service was on point. So: mixed.
We had a terrific meal on Thursday night at Juniper and Ivy. It was an interesting experience - a foodie haven, but without the pretensions of dressing up or somber waiters. Saul, our waiter for the night, guided us as we tried figure out what would be best for us, given our preferences and dietary restrictions. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his knowledge was incredibly helpful. We now live in Chicago, but we used to live in San Diego. This restaurant is completely different than anything we had previously experienced in this beautiful city. The attention to detail, passion for freshness and quality, and the playfulness reminded us of meals we had in San Sebastian. Don't hesitate - go! And if you're lucky, you'll have Saul helping you out!
Every dish is an experience and an adventure. Fun and delicious. The drinks are also unique and so, so good.
Service was great till the end when we were ready for the check but couldn't find our server for the check. Finally a busser noticed that and got our server to get the check for us.
In San Diego for work conference but had eaten at Richard Blais’ restaurant in New Orleans several years ago so new I had to check this out. The 3 of us shared several plates and everything was delicious. The wine flight was well paired and the varietals were interesting.
Our server was attentive without being over solicitous and we felt well cared for without ever feeling rushed. The deserts at the end were perfect and we left very full and content.
The waiter failed to put in our "bites" order and the food came out after about an hour......dishes were either bland or excessively salty.
I will give it a 2nd try but I do think it's over priced......
Food was not prepared at the level of expectations for such a highly reviewed establishment. We ordered 6 small plates and two appetizers - would say 2-3 were acceptable but not great and the rest were outright poorly executed. Maybe this was an off night but I will not give it a second chance.
Outstanding experience as always! Our favorite SD restaurant:-)
Famed Japanese beef too tough to even cut with a steak knife, overcooked dry fish served with nearly raw vegetables, risotto dish which was closer to a crunchy quinoa bowl than a creamy risotto and was covered in a bitter sauce. Overpriced menu that does NOT live up to fine dining! Save your money and your palate and choose another restaurant!
