Contemporary American
Juniper and Ivy, owned by Michael Rosen with influence from Chef-Partner Richard Blais, elevated the San Diego dining scene upon opening in early 2014. Located in the north end of the Little Italy neighborhood, Juniper and Ivy offers refined American cuisine with unique iterations of the classics. The whimsical menu, executed by Executive Chef Anthony Wells, is in a constant state of change depending on the freshest, seasonal ingredients provided by our local purveyors.

Great ambiance, well-designed, hip and sophisticated restaurant. Service is spot on; "Sage" was our server, and she was very warm and friendly, yet also very professional and was very informative in guiding us through the menu, and the rest of the servers were excellent too. We were disappointed that the rib eye was not available, but we still enjoyed the small dishes; we had a variety from seafood, vegetable based, pork and pasta dishes. Reasonably priced food for the quality. Definitely should go for an excellent dining experience

Sisters birthday! Experience was great from the beginning! Service was smooth and server checked in periodically. Food was absolutely delicious! Nothing fussy, straight forward and comforting.

Greeted very personally, and ALL employees even those not helping us directly were very friendly. Surprise deviled eggs and end of meal dessert bite were such a special addition. Our daughter gave us a gift card and my husband turned 65 so we were celebrating his birthday. We LOVE Richard Blais and Top Chef and have told everyone we know what a fabulous experience it was!!! Thank you!!!!

A chance find from the web, and a really good one. Extraordinary food, excellent service. We each had a Lorax cocktail, $1 from the price of each going to California wildfire recovery, which was a nice touch. Anne was particularly fond of her spiny lobster and marrow bone.

Was not expecting the level of service, I work in the food industry so I was keen to see a certain level of training among the staff. They surpassed it.
The food was amazing and is definitely a place for special occasions or if you really want to treat yourself!

Bravo! As always the most delicious meal of my yearly trip to SD! Go here, enjoy several courses with friends and taste until you can’t move. Highly recommend tapas style/share ordering. Everything needs to be tried!

Wonderful experience again at Juniper & Ivy! This is my fourth time visiting within 1 year and all the items on the menu were new and fresh. Trendy and Tasty are perfect words to describe this place.

Juniper and Ivy is known for its inventive way in cooking and the fusion way in mixing ingridents to make food. When I looked at the menu for a lobster with Osso Bucco and Risotto I expected a very large plate with a lobster tail on one side and the Osso Bucco with the Risotto on the other side of the large plate. It turned out to be a present surprise. The "Osso Bucco" is the spine bone cut in longitude half, showing and allowing the bone marrow to expose on the top of the bone which sits the already un-shell lobster tail cut in pieces. The green color spinish Risotto spread and covering the bottom of the plate. The way to eat is to scrape the bone marrow from the bone to mix with the lobster and eat the 'au jus' lobster and the Risotto. A very enjoyable process and a very enjoyable meal.

Honestly from what I heard, I expected the food to be better. The small plates were mostly good, but had a n overall flavor of Salt and for those items with mustard. you only tasted that. We will still hungry and thought about ordering the chicken only to be told it would take at least an hour. Nowhere on the menu or were we told about this. We got our check and left to go get a real meal.

Came here for my birthday and was blown away. The food is unbelievable - everything from the amuse bouche to the entree was perfectly prepared and presented. I highly recommend the tuna wellington. Amazing!

J&I was a culinary delight! A creative and varied menu that ensures everyone will find a dish or dishes that they will enjoy. Service was exceptional and the food was some of the best I've enjoyed in some time. This is truly a must dine restaurant.

Restaurant has convenient valet parking. Service was excellent. Ambience of the restaurant is good. The food is delicious and farm to table concept with family style dining. the portion size is small so if you have a large group please order multiple orders of the same dish. This applies to small plates and even the entrees. Cocktails are unique.

We Flew into San Diego with a goal to eat here and Crack Shack. We hit Crack Shack for a early lunch, then eventually made our way back the same day for a celebratory engagement dinner. Both Richard Blais experiences didn't disappoint! I also dont wanna forget about our waiter, dude was amazing. He was personable and friendly, but not in the typical way.....his personality and openness made us feel welcome and comfortable. I flew into San Diego on Sunday with my girlfriend, but left with a fiancé. As foodies, we both looked forward to our celebration dinner at one of our favorite triple D judges spots, and it was even better then expected. The Halibut sashimi made my girl forget my name HAHAHHAHA. THANK RICHARD!

Best San Diegan restaurant by a long shot. You won’t find the food or ambiance anywhere else but Southern California. It’s our favorite place for a quick drink or sit down and we bring ever guest here.

It had been a few years since I last went here and we decided to bring some friends from out of town. We were really disappointed with the entire experience. We felt the service was slow, the followed the servers recommendations since the menu had completely changed since our last visit. And all of the dishes were underwhelming especially for being the most expensive options on the menu.

I don't think we'll be going back and I definitely wouldn't recommend it in the future.

I loved this placed but this experience was far from par of this restaurant. Very disappointed in the food quality but the service was great. We’ve been going here since they open and their private dinner parties, and this was by far was regrettable. I sincerely hope the next dinner experience is better than this.

The atmosphere was lovely! The wait staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was outstanding! We sat at the Chef’s Table and enjoyed observing the carefully orchestrated, and clearly well planned, kitchen run like a well-oiled machine. We look forward to dining there again.

The staff were fantastic. Even though they were full and didn’t have inside tables available, they gave us several choices and we ended up sitting in the lounge on the comfortable sofa and chairs, where we ate our dinner. I looked up all the best restaurants in San Diego in this place came up several times. That’s why I was surprised the food was so bad. Soft not appropriately crusted corn dog, bad sausage, and the salmon Wellington was not impressive, despite a waiter telling me it was the staff’s favorite. The cheese plate was small and almost laughable. Our table of four only liked one of the three cheeses. The only thing that was good was the big biscuit with huge hunk of butter in the middle. And the Tres Amigos, Three Friends drink was really good too, as recommended by our nice waitwoman. But the bar does not know how to make a good Cosmo or Margarita. It’s a cute place in a WONDERFUL part of San Diego, but come for the Trio of Friends and Bowl o’ Biscuit, and then eat dinner elsewhere. You will be disappointed if you like good food.

This was our 3rd visit to J & I. As always, the food was great. Service was a bit off this time, however. Server was super nice, but something got mixed up in the kitchen and we got a small plate after our main course. Waited over 30 minutes for it. Almost cancelled the order.
