Junction Ratings and Reviews
I can’t check enough boxes b/c some of them I don’t know, but Junction has definitely hit its stride. The food was generous and delicious from start to finish. Don’t skip over the Ceviche and I’d suggest a margarita to go with it perfectly. Basically, you can create any kind of experience here you’d like to have by ordering shared plates or your own, full sized meal... or both. Much of the wood is from trees taken off the lot so one can feel the love put into this place. Best Mex I’ve had in Cville in a long, long time.
Reservations for 6:15 the day after Thansgiving. Tried to seat us in a window seat next to a drafty door and supposedly they had other reservations but really the place was mostly empty (ominous sign number 1). Fortunately they moved us to a booth and by the time we were done there was only two other tables seated by the time we left.
The food was "lackluster". Ordered a papusa which had mushrooms and goat cheese. OK, so maybe one mushrooms strewn about instead and two sprinkles of grated goat cheese. So really had a papusa of corn meal for 15$ (Ominous sign #2). The other meal (I wasn't the one eating it was also unremarkable).
We had wine and mixed drinks. One glass of wine. One mixed drink. The waiter forgot to put the order in at the empty bar so it never showed after a very long time (Ominous sign #3). Luckily he fessed up after we'd asked the hostess for our check and asked that she cancel the phantom drink order.
Check please (couldn't wait to leave so that's an ominous sign #4).
If you are just out for mediocre food this is your spot! One and never done again for me though.
We had a 13 person party before a sorority Parents Formal and had a great time! They were very accommodating to our large party with splitting the check and ensuring everyone was taken care of in a timely manner. Almost everyone got a different dish and we were all highly satisfied with our delicious meals. Many people got margaritas and really enjoyed them. We will definitely be keeping Junction in mind in the future!
We went on Halloween and it was fun to see so many little ones in costumes who were given treats. The interior was beautifully done with old exposed bricks and beautiful woodwork. As we are seniors we appreciated having a parking lot as Belmont can be hard to find parking. We will definitely come again.
If you’re a Mexican food lover like myself, then you may have given this place a shot upon opening.... and maybe been disappointed. I waited quite awhile before going back and that led to going back again. Both of my last 2 times there have been wonderful and every dish has been spot-on. The Chef has come into her own. Run don’t walk.
My friend & I had dinner on the porch. I had the delicious, delicately flavored rabbit with chorizo & shrimp, & she had excellent scallops. My house margarita was good (her Bullwhip too, but *really* spicy). Service was fine. Our only complaint was that our table (by the back door) was a little sticky & the mosquitoes were out.
Went here for daughter's 21st bday. The 'ritas were all great. The apps were awesome - quesadillas were some of the best, DEFINITELY order the street corn - unique and great, the shrimp were just okay - but they gave us an extra one (we were 6 and it comes w/5) so that was nice. I had the duck - I think the best dish so far, my son and dh had the rabbit etouffe which was crazy good. The vegetarian pupusa my daughter had was a bit dry and just okay. The chicken looked really good, but didn't taste it - the boyfriend said it was very good and he's kinda picky. Service was great - we ate outside, as requested and it was very nice. Will definitely return.
Service was good, appetizers good, but too oily - grillled veggies. Fish of the day, unfortunately, was average at best. The fish and chips approach didn't work with oily, limp potatoes and slightly spiced mild fish. Duck was quite good. My husband was sufficiently disappointed that we didn't stay for what I understood were good desserts. To a bad experience, but not a great one, particularly for a birthday dinner.
The renovation of the restaurant space is beautiful and highlights the incredible craftsmanship. As the building has many hard surfaces, the noise level was high even with a small Friday night crowd. The service was excellent and all staff were attentive and friendly. Appetizer was excellent as well as dessert. The brisket tacos were mediocre a bit disappointing. The duck chimichurra was excellent. The meal was a little pricey for what we had but we had a nice evening.
We went here for the 2nd time on Saturday night and it was really great! Our waiter was friendly and spot on! He was knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive. My only complaint is that they have replaced an item on the menu recently and 2 of us were going to have it (the stuffed rellenos) but the waiter told us that it's been replaced with chickpea ancho chili fritters, which were very good, but the management needs to either print a new menu or else cover the old item with what the new item is.
This place is really pretty and huge! They have wonderful artwork and great fixtures. It's lots of fun!
We also had the triple dip appetizer that has queso, salsa and guacamole and it's great!! We'll definitely go back!
Not as good as we expected unfortunately. A Saturday night and the restaurant was filled but the kitchen and staff acted like this was completely unexpected and they were overwhelmed by the situation. Server tried his best to apologize several times but it was clear that he and the other servers were not happy. Even our ice cream dessert and coffee took forever to arrive. Our mains were quite good, the building is beautiful but everyone seeming so frazzled put an unpleasant mood on the evening.
Popped in for restaurant week. The three-course prix fix meal was interesting...various offerings and some matched to the normal restaurant menu. The dessert though was subpar. For what could have made the meal a standout, it was ordinary and dry. My husband and I much preferred our normal date night fare at this location. Memorable appetizers and great cocktails are the standouts here.
The only problem we've had is the restaurant has been very warm during the summer months.
Otherwise, it is our new favorite place. We ate there 2 times in the last week. We will be back for sure, but it would be to your advantage to work on that air conditioning system.
