The food was great! Enjoyed the raw bar. Our entrees were super tasty and appropriately portioned. Dessert and coffee were lovely as well. Howerever, the experience was made by the best server we have had any where in a long time. She was friendly, genuine, and had the perfect balance of checking in on us, and leaving us alone to enjoy our evening and meal.

Always absolutely delicious! We wouldn't come to Portsmouth and not go to Jumpin' Jays. The atmosphere is nice - you can be dressed up or casual - but the food is SO good!! The mussels are better than any others we've had in the area, the seafood is delicious, and the Haddock Piccata and Seafood Mullugatawny Stew (with coconut milk!) are amazing!!

As always a great dinner! Everything was perfect. It's nice that there is a variety of options since my husband and I have different tastes. We can always find something we will both like. And everyone is always so nice and the drinks are pretty good too

We were very satisfied with our meal. We were there on Shuck-a-Buck night; the oysters were deliciously fresh! Excellent spicy, fried calamari! Friendly, helpful staff and fast service.

If you like consistent, excellent fish, this is the place! And wash it down with one of their super fine martinis. It is as good as it gets.

Delicious seafood dinners. The halibut was excellent and the desserts were fabulous. We love eating at Jay's - one of our favorites on the seacoast.

This was our first visit to Jumpin Jays. I had to eat gluten free and also couldn't eat garlic, onions, apples, etc., because of IBS. The waitress was super friendly and accommodating, and the menu also indicated gluten-free options. My husband and I are definitely "foodies," and the food here was delicious. We ordered calamari (not gluten-free), a salad with bacon marmalade, seafood mullitagawny, swordfish with a great citrus dijon sauce, beer, and wine. Everything was so delicious. I'd highly recommend this restaurant for the food and service.

Appetizer list was small and rather basic. Fish was expertly prepared and was actually better by itself than with the sauces available. Service was good as well.

Jumpin Jays never disappoints. We have been here many times. The fish is fresh and wonderful. This trip, I had the diver scallops and my wife had the salmon. Excellent spot for dinner before a Music Hall event.

Tight seating. Awesome service. Food good. Avg price for fish. Appetizers & desserts more on expensive end. Clam chowder was a disappointment.

Best seafood restaurant on the NH Seacoast. This is real seafood, not the fried touristy stuff. Food and service is always excellent at Jay's. I come here frequently, because it is the best

Love the drinks here and the seafood is spectacular. Wish they had even one vegan option on the menu. I ordered the vegetarian scampi and it came with cheese all over it. Kind of a bummer.

We have eaten at Jumpin Jays a few times. Our waiter was friendly but not attentive and did not know much about the seafood. He did not tell us the special fish of the day had been sold out for two hours, and that was our first choice. He did not know about the different oyster selections, or the different kinds of port that I wanted as an after dinner drink. He did know his wine, but I think you have to take time with your table and know a lot about seafood when you work in a higher end seafood restaurant. The special parsnip soup with the shrimp/bacon fritter was incredible! The clams and linguine was one of the worst I have ever eaten. They put 3 clams in their shell on the top of the dish and the rest was minced canned clams in a very strong and sweet onion/garlic cream sauce. Even our little Italian restauran,t in our home town ,gives you a dozen littlenecks in the shell and not minced clams. The Haddock piccata was okay. When the waiter appeared for the dessert option, I had to call him back to ask him about an after dinner drink. While we were starting our dessert he brought the check and told us to take our time. I think for the money you should never feel rushed and/or ignored at the same time. It was only 8:45 on a Saturday night so I don't know why he would have been in a rush. Finally, my daughter had stomach pains, etc. in the middle of the night and was fine in the morning. The only thing we didn't try equally was the raw tuna Poke. My daughter is 21 and has an extremely strong immune system so she was really surprised to have this happen.
