An amazing jewel of a restaurant with big city quality in the 'burbs! The chef is friendly and funny and his food has such a unique blend of flavors. We love this place and can't wait to go back to try different items on the menu.
I have never been a French food fan but went because the location was convenient. What a pleasant surprise. I had the onion soup, rolls,pommes frites and Brussel sprouts. Everything was excellently prepared, hot and beautifully presented. I just sampled what looked irresistible on the menu. So impressed that we made future reservations while still there. I can’t wait to try other menu items. The only minus was we had another couple seated just a tad too close and they seemed to be able to hear our conversations
Excellent service and ambiance, mediocre fare. It was good enough to warrant anotger try we think, but two sides were lack luster. We started with the bone marrow and onion soup. They were good enough to bring me another set of bones after the first proved to be all but empty. The soup was ok, but Le Ferme's is much better. Main courses were the stuffed cabbage (waaaay too salty) and the crispy trout (ok, but a bit bland). We didn't have room for desert. Looking back I should have had the lamb. Service was perfection and the entire little building was too. I think this place has potential to stay around for a long time, especially in that location, and I think they need to keep on working on the menu. Again, we will try to come back for round 2.
The food and ambiance were exceptional. The menu was creative but not pretentious, not overwhelming in size or variety but included something for all types of diners (vegetarian, gluten free, etc.). The Chef found time to interact with each party, and all the wait staff was very knowledgeable about the various dishes as well as the wines and beer choices. I'm looking forward to spring and nicer weather to see how the outdoor dining experience goes.
The atmosphere at Julii feels at once unique and yet so comfortable and familiar.
The food was delicious but we all couldn’t decide what put it over the top in terms of total wow experience. The hand crafted cocktails, the menu, the professional wait staff, the low key but totally vibrant mood, or the made-at-our table ice cream. Total delight.
Although entirely surrounded in glass, ambiance is warm and cozy. And though we sat in a booth, the bar looked inviting for late afternoon/early evening apps and cocktails or even a full dinner. Food was surprisingly good. Apps, salads, entrees...all excellent - significantly superior to most restaurant fare you find these days. Service was engaging, comfortable, and prompt. Floor manager checked on us several times without intruding or being a helicopter boss. Hats off to the Cava Mezze boys and girls for another win!
Our meal at Julii was outstanding. From the moment we walked in the door, service was friendly and professional. It was obvious everyone was enjoying what they were doing. Chef Sasha has found his place with the guys from the Cava team. The food was beyond wonderful, presentation was lovely and truly unique. Being there for a birthday celebration that was elevated to an even higher level. Will be back often!
Lamb tagine and crispy trout were quite good. For $8, the rolls with a small dollop of butter was disappointing even at half that price. Kudos to the manager who oversaw the room and made up for our nice but inexperienced server.
Service was very good and so was the food. However I would like to see another fish option on the menu
The first appetizer served, shakshuka, was terrific. The second, Alsatian tart, would have been better without honey. The main courses, lamb shank and chicken, were both disappointing and tasted like they had been cooked long before we arrived. Portions are oversized and a good part of our entrees went in the trash. Menu prices are at the top end of the range for good food, which with the exception of the shakshuka, we didn't experience.
Salmon crudo, fois gras, French onion soup, smoked salmon risotto, roasted duck, crispy trout and NY Strip steak au poivre were all fantastic. Looking forward to trying Alsatian tart, lamb tangine and bone marrow on the next trip.
Excellent cocktails, and solid espressos/ cappuccinos.
And you can't put a price on table-side prep of liquid nitrogen ice cream, prepared by a happy chef or server who is proud of the food the restaurant produces (and rightly so).
My only complaint is Julii is not close enough to my home in NoVa. But that will help keep it a bit extra special for us.
I went there with my wife to celebrate our anniversary and the place and hype did not let me down. The food was amazing, the staff was very personable and just down right nice. To make our anniversary even more memorable they gave us a hand written card and told us congrats! I highly recommend Julii and am looking forward to my next dining experience here.
PS the panna cotta was scrumptious!
We really, really enjoyed our visit to Julli! Our only complaint was that we didn’t realize that the portions were so generous and we ordered too much food. Four of us shared rolls, tart, and 2 salads first. My duck was yummy and my husband’s lamb tagine was very flavorful.... but we had to take some home of both of them plus some salad home. Next time we will order less but there will definitely be a next time!
Julii is on it's way to being a staple in Pike and Rose, but it isn't quite there yet. They just opened, so understandably, service was a bit choppy. We basically had two waiters asking us the same questions all night. Some of the food was great, like the shakshuka. However, the lamb tagine tasted like an overly smoky version of a Cava bowl. I ordered the crispy trout which was delicious, but the vegetables it came with ranged from under cooked to completely burned. With a few adjustments Julii will be great, but for now it's just ok.
Lovely setting, but disappointing food overall. The decor and setting is beautiful, but music was so loud, we could hardly hear each other. Of the 2 appetizers, the shakshuka was excellent, spiced just right, with great cumin flavor. The bread rolls were delicious but certainly didn't need the butter topping which made it extra oily. The menu described it as coming with a labneh butter. Labneh is a middle eastern strained thick yogurt commonly eaten at breakfast with some olive oil, salt, and bread. So I imagined they would serve labneh that you then spread on the bread like butter...However what came was an overwhipped melting mound of butter with no taste of labneh at all. I was told some labneh was used to give it the whipped texture. Such a lost opportunity to showcase a truly middle eastern staple! The entrees are huge and would recommend sharing. The cabbage roll on a bed of mash was unappealing to look at. The trout was very oily. Service though was nice and friendly.

This is a tough one to write. The service and bar service were excellent. I will be coming back just to sit at the bar and watch the bartenders make me a custom cocktail. BUT, I wrote the restaurant before coming to make sure they would have sufficient vegan options when I was there and they did not. There is one main they can modify. There are no other dishes. And if you order a side or two to start with, apparently the side that comes with the one main isn't vegan, so you do need to prepare for that. The flip side is that my dining companion really enjoyed her marrow and foie gras. She did send back the lamb tagine as it was game-y to her. The space is lovely and the staff couldn't be any nicer. I just look forward to the kitchen maybe expanding.
We spent New Year's Eve at Julii. It was fantastic! Best food ever!
We were very pleased with the cozy and casual atmosphere. A lovely space to dine in, although small, you don't feel packed in. It was quite busy but nonetheless the staff took their time to explain the menu and the choices we could make. Our cocktails were delicious and the Lamb Tagine was nicely done, very tender and well seasoned. Good value for money and a really welcome addition to Pike and Rose. We'll be back.

I have been patiently waiting for restaurants to open at Pike and Rose and when I saw that Julii had opened I had to check it out! I was surprised to see how small the space was... but it’s cozy and romantic. The lamb tangine was amazing! While we were there we were offered a free (!) dish to sample .. unfortunately I cannot recall the name but it was a salmon dish with radish and that was refreshing and delicious! I would definitely go back to Julii!!
French onion soup and altasian tart were great. My steak was mediocre— very chewy, challenging to cut. I’ve cream dessert prepared tableside was absolutely great. Service was attentive and helpful. Noise level receded after nine. The tables in the middle are not particularly but the booths and seating near the windows are private. All in all would definitely return but not order the steak

Beautiful space. Creative menu but the flavours just didn’t deliver.
The wait staff was pleasant and accommodating, but still a bit rough around the edges as the restaurant had been open for only a few weeks.
So exited for this new addition to Pike and Rose. It's a great twist on mediterranean in a cool, glass box. We were there Xmas eve and you could see lights outside, adding to the novelty.
The food was awesome - we shared a caesar salad to start - yummy and light. Among the three entrees we ordered the lamb tagine got the highest reviews (moist, amazing flavors, perfectly presented), followed by the trout (yummy seasoning and flaky, moist fish - small note, the onions could have been cooked a bit more) and last was the pasta bolognese (sauce was really tasty but the pasta was slightly overcooked).
Excellent and interesting wine list by the glass and bottle. Really good service. Welcome to the hood!

I was very pleased with Julii. All the food is creative and a nice fusion. They had some odd menu items like bone marrow, but i avoided that. We got the grilled trout, which was tender and tasty, not too fishy. It did have some bones though. The Julii dinner rolls were very tasty, fluffy, and fresh. All the food came out piping hot. The Pom frits had a crispy coating and a soft interior-->it came with a garlic aioli sauce that made ALL the difference. The brussel sprouts could have been more crispy, but they were super tasty; had like a garlic infused flavor that was good. Warning though, they garnish almost all their dishes with dill, so if you are someone, like my sister, who doesn't like dill, then make sure to tell your waiter to exclude it. I give them a 4 though, just because a restaurant like this should make the rolls complimentary. It's kind of standard.
Meal was delicious and service was excellent. Very reasonable price for a meal of this quality in Bethesda
Absolutely beautiful decor - so nice to see a stylish restaurant fro the silverware to the chair fabric to the lighting above the bar. Food is quite good too - not perfect - oversalted salad and some things can be improved.
The only real complaint is the bipolar service - great when you arrive and orders taken and then cant get attention during the dinner. They huddled near the bar on their cell phones and hard to flag down. I am sure this ill get worked out and I look forward to returning - a really nice surprise.
BTW - drinks are great!
Excellent food — lamb tagine, roast duck, a very imaginative take on vegetarian stuffed cabbage, excellent duck liver appetizer, equally fine roasted marrow bones. It’s a very small place, so we were happy that we went for an early dinner. But to get this good food and service in a restaurant that had been open less than two weeks was a great pleasure.

What a great addition to the neighborhood. Food was delicious, along with a great vibe. Unlike any other restaurant in P&R. Had the trout, roasted chicken, brussel sprouts and Shakshouka. Fantastic!!
My experience was great! The decor was unique, a cozy place with a limited menu but the execution was spot on for the lamb and steak. I think my favorite part was our server, Tom. He was fun, helpful, knowledgeable and conversational. Looking forward to going back to try the duck and/or chicken.
I had a most wonderful time here. The space is small and cosy. The food is some of the best I have had and pricing is not too bad for the quality.
