Always a pleasure to dine at Julia's. It is unfortunate that will be closing for the winter but I look forward to going there again regularly once they reopen.
Just an incredibly beautiful place! Wonderful service!
Over many visits, we have always found the chef's creations wonderful and very well presented. From delicious pate appetizer to delectable dessert, we have enjoyed every bite.
Our server was great — he was very helpful, accommodating and remembered the birthday cake for my friend. My friend was so happy about it and loved the ambience. She plans on going back and bring her family.
I ordered the Halloween "Toxic Waste Mac'n'Cheese" Friday 30 Oct. It was the best Mac 'n' Cheese I'd ever eaten. It was SOooo good that I went back Saturday to pick up TWO orders (one for my next door neighbor), who also couldn't believe how good it was, and she's a dynamite cook herself.
I hope Julia's moves this dish to the regular menu - PLEASE do that!
Hello Nadine, We're so glad you loved Chef's special Halloween mac & cheese! We'll definitely let him know how much you loved it and that you'd like to see it on the regular menu! :) - Julia's
My husband and I were relaxing outside on Berkeley City Club's terrace eating food prepared by a master French chef. Our waiter was attentive to our every need. It was a sublime evening.
Hello Rebecca, Thanks for your review and we're so happy to hear about your 'sublime' dining experience! We hope to have you back again soon! -Julia's
our lunch was delicious. I had beet salad and salmon. Great location and wonderful food.
Hello Mham, Thanks for your review and we're happy to hear your enjoyed your lunch! We hope to have you back again soon! -Julia's
The food was excellent as usual and the distancing measures were appropriate. The outdoor setting was just as enjoyable as the usual dining room though you might need a sweater.
Hello Kimchi, Thank you for your review! We're happy you enjoyed our outdoor dining experience and hope to have you back once again very soon! -Julia's
Lovely birthday celebration.
Hello SusanD, Thanks for the review and happy (belated) birthday! :) -Julia's
Restful and relaxing ambiance when the weather is nice. Given the Covid constraints the service is quite good.
Eating outdoors in this lovely rooftop space was magical. Each of the chef's courses was delicious. And I was able to spend it with my husband. I will definitely come here again and again.
Excellent food and service with enough quiet to have a conversation.
Julia’s is one of the must “go to” places in Northern California and Berkeley.
There is socially distanced dining.
Great food, service, and setting. We loved it. Will be back.
Awesome ambiance, services and quality food. Really appreciate the observance and instilling the pandemic requirements.
It's always wonderful to visit Julia's and the amazing Julia Morgan. And especially fine at this time of pandemic when it is a real treat to be served a delicious meal in lovely surroundings!
The restaurant worked hard to offer an elite dining experience despite Covid-related restrictions. Food was terrific and service was exemplary. I happily sampled from a nice list of wines by the glass. As one of only three occupied tables in the entire outdoor dining area any lack of ambiance was not the restaurant’s fault. I look forward to returning when Julia’s is back in her full pomp.
Julia’s is doing a beautiful job during this time of COVID social distancing. The service, food and attention to every detail is there and we are SO GRATEFUL!!! ❤️
My friend and I drove two hours to have lunch at Julia's. Our expectations were high, especially since my friend is a marvelous cook. We were very happy with our experience. Julian Morgan, the architect, created a hotel atmosphere that is a delicious mix of Gothic, Frank Lloyd Wright, and old school club. For those who need a change from sidewalk dining, what a pleasure to bask in the open second floor ambiance of this unique setting looking down on an interior garden. The chef is a MCF and Abbas, our server, is attentive to your every desire. The menu changes regularly. Don't miss out on this chef's imaginative creations that taste as wonderful as they appear when brought to the table.
Chef Fabrice really stepped up to the plate with his golden beet goat cheese salad with apple and radishes. The presentation brought smiles around the table.
Old world service and delicious food. Our table was on the terrace overlooking the garden below. Lovely
We enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and attentive service. I especially liked the beet parfait and the berry sorbet with meringue and madeleines.
We have hardly left the house in 4 months and our take out has been mostly from McDonald. I could not cook another meal and my husband knew it. Then we found out that Julia's terrace had started service. Joy! From the moment we arrived at Julia's everything was wonderful. There was breeze on the terrace and every dish was magnificent (yummy)! And we can't say enough about the outstanding service. It was a perfect night. We can't wait to go back. Alice in El Cerrito.
So glad that we were able to dine outdoors in Berkeley for the first time. We enjoyed the duck breast and sea bass dishes. Would return again to try other items on the menu soon.
Wonderful food and excellent service. All Covid precautions were taken, tables were well-spaced and we had a fantastic and interesting meal of seasonal specialties. Can’t wait to return here.
We loved the stately ambiance of the place. And appreciated the distance between tables. The food was very good as was the service. Definitely a place we'll revisit for special occasions.
We had visited Julia's just a few months ago and had a wonderful dinner. Once again I ordered the duck. This time i was disappointed. The pieces were overcooked (I asked for medium with pinkish centers) and thick, instead of the nice fanned serving with pinkish centers as before.
I'm wondering if there is a new chef?
Very French cooking. Wines by the glass are good with range of cost. Expensive.
Delicious food with beautiful ambiance very special spot to be for a special leap year birthday.
Much as I like “old-fashioned” restaurants, and, as good as the food was on our first visit here, it is a tad seedy and out of date.
Beautiful setting / ambiance. Excellent service. In our party of 4 one of us was quite happy with the pork loin but the 3 others were underwhelmed with their meals (salmon special, mushroom soup, veggie entree).
The tea got quite bitter after it sat int the teapot for over 15 minute. There should be tea pots that you can take the tea out of the teapot so it can steep properly.
The room was beautiful. The food was terrific, and the service was excellent.
Julia's offers a truly lovely experience: the tables are widely separated for easy conversation; the room is lovely and peaceful, in keeping with the Julia Cameron aesthetic; the service is exceptional -- we had to be out by a certain time, and our courses were delivered accordingly. The whole experience felt like an oasis between two busy sessions at the theatre.
Very interesting place for lunch in Berkeley. Chairs are uncomfortable, but the wait staff is very well trained and attentive. The menu is a bit limited for lunch, but the ingredients were very fresh and tasty.
We like Julia's because it is a relatively quiet restaurant where we can hear each other talk. The old building is interesting and creates a very nice ambiance. My partner liked his duck but I found my chicken on the dry side and even with a slightly spicy sauce, it wasn't particularly interesting.
The location is convenient for going to Cal Performances and there is parking. Our server was nice but slow to followup--such as, at first, when we were read to order and then again when we asked for the check.
To repeat: we could hear each other! It was wonderful not having to shout over the din of other people shouting because back ground music was loud.
Interesting and varied menu, a very classy setting. Our server was wonderful. The food preparation was excellent.
Wow. Superb. Went with friend & wanted to be pampered. We were. Food, service, and of course ambiance by Julia Morgan- all flawless. Thanks to all staff for carrying on the tradition of fine dining @ The Berkeley City Club!
Wonderful place! A must visit in SF! We enjoyed the food, ambiance and service. Great wine selection.
Excellent vegan option!
Beautiful Julia Morgan building alone makes this a special place
Food is good, not life-changing, as was service.
