This was a great find and I'm so disappointed to find that they have since closed! It was more like a supper club with live music you could hear/talk over. I was looking forward to dancing nights there as well.
The food at Julia's was amazing. The music was great.
Fantastic rainbow trout and scallops. Great house red wine. The only thing I'd change was that the live music ended and they were preparing for salsa dance. The DJ prep music was way too loud. We could no longer have a nice conversation with friends and had to leave. We would have stayed longer otherwise. Pricey but with a Groupon we'd go again.
Great live music! Second time I've been here and food is delicious, nice upscale restaurant in Chantilly!
Wait staff little inexperienced. Food just okay. Somethings could have been better. Calamari really good, marinara just ok. Lobster ravioli: more like ravioli with lobster sauce. Was pretty good but mushrooms little chewy. Seemed more lounge than restaurant.
The food was good, and the service was AMAZING. I made our reservation online for Mothers Day, and in the optional comments I asked if they could put a sunflower as a centerpiece on the table as it is my wife's favorite flower. Not only did they do this, but they decorated her salad appetizer & her entree plates with sunflowers in a very elegant fashion. WOW. Above and beyond what I expected.
When talking about the menu to the server I happened to mention that I liked Chicken Parmesan. It is not on the menu, but he took it upon himself to ask the cooks if they could make it. They did. Outstanding!
We only had a glass of champagne each. Obviously its like $6-7 a glass, but man they make it count. Our glasses were like 99% full. No cheaping out here.
They had a pianist playing a variety of live tunes this night. It was the right volume and mood for the evening.
If you are looking for a slightly upscale dinning experience with good food, ambiance, and amazing service then I highly recommend this restaurant.
Our bill was about $60. I paid $80 for the absolutely outstanding customer service.
Julia's is trying to be a nice place but I think they are missing on a few things.
Their food needs more seasoning. Their steaks lack basic salt, and there are no salt and pepper shakers on the tables. That takes a lot of nerve to assume your food is that good that it doesn't need extra seasoning.
Portion sizes are really small. For example, we ordered the crab cake appetizer, and for $10, there were barely 3 ounces of crab cakes on the plate.
Service is not very good. The wait staff is not very attentive and does not come back nearly enough to check on you as they should.
We really want to like this place to help out a small business owner, but they need to improve service, food portions and seasoning to step it up and make us repeat customers.
Very good food and drinks. Nice atmosphere and server Ras was very nice and attentive.
We have been here for New Years Party and like the place but it was very crowded, this time we were on Saturday and it was not to busy. We hope they will do well and stay in business. Very nice place.
Definitely will go back.
Nice looking atmosphere. I was looking for something different than I've experienced before. I started with Thai wings. They weren't very seasoned. I ordered the pasta with shrimp and it was ok. Wasn't enough for me though. The wait staff were great. Very friendly and attentive. Overall, my wife and I would not come back to eat, however we would like to experience the night club. Hope that experience would be better.
We were surprised to see a singer/guitar player and he was really good! The place has a big dance floor, but on a Tuesday night, he kindly played great music that allowed diners to have conversation. They were also having 1/2 price bottles of wine. Service and food was good. The menu seemed to have more appetizers.
The food was amazing! The staff was super nice and helpful. We wil be back often!!
We have been to a Julia's before and really enjoyed it. This time they were out most of the food we ordered. The food we did get was different from before. Perhaps there was a different chef.
We absolutely loved this GEM of a restaurant in Chantilly. Great food and romantic setting with live music. This restaurant has everything!
Excellent dinner with live entertainment provided by Eric at her player. Excellent server.
We have visited several times and each time we have had a good experience. Happy hour is good and our dinner this time was outstanding! Enjoyed Jason Masi's live music during dinner. Highly recommend Julia's for dinner or Happy Hour.
The service was sad, the bar tenders were our servers and seemed to have no experience (they have been opened for quite awhile). One of them admitted for being in the job for only 3 weeks, that is cool, but for not being new, an experienced server should besetting tables during peak dinner time. They were not even good at making drinks, not balanced, again no specialities, not even a cocktail menu. They boast a huge international wine selection but it's mediocre... nothing special... actually quite lacking :/
I had the lobster ravioli appetizer that had me wondering if it was fake or pre-made frozen stuff from a store instead of made in house. I was literally pulling it apart looking at because it was weird. Also the way it was plated was odd, the micro greens were wilted and gross looking. I then ordered their ribeye (rare) with fingerling potatoes and broccolini. It came out cooked almost medium-well, the potatoes looked like potatoe wedges which were cold and so was the broccolini. Everything was different temperatures... not sure if it was the kitchen or server, but I left half of the meal on the plate. Not really that good. The horseradish ranch dip in a large dish was tacky.
The menu is all over the place, even the server didn't know what kind of restaurant they were employed when asked what kind of restaurant this was. Really, really, disappointed. They need a real chef that can craft a menu that makes sense, focus on one style of food, and don't use mediocre bar tenders to serve food. Also, an experienced bar tender might be better for business, along with a drink menu. A lot more thought needs to be put into this confused restaurant... it has potential, but all I wanted to do was get away from it, I won't be back unless it comes under better management and figures out an actual vision of where it should go food-wise.
I'm not sure what makes this Italian? Food was good and well prepared but I can get the same at a chain restaurant. Country club catered wedding food is the perfect way to describe it. They had live music - Phoebe Buffay was doing acoustic late 90's pop. We were going to stay for dessert but the music was so loud we couldn't hear each other without screaming so we left.
We had an acceptable meal with attentive service in a cavernous space. We dined around 6.30pm and did not appreciate the considerable talent of the folk singer who you would expect to be performing much later.......a piano would have been pleasant or even rely on the canned music that played when the folk singer rested. The food was Ok, but when one orders a fillet one does not anticipate the potato to be the main event....the steak was cooked to my specification, but was a meagre portion for over $30.00. The wine list sported a selection that, I am sure, came right out of Costco!
Dinner Saturday night at Julia's was more than adequate, and our waiter was excellent. While the menu selections could be improved, the trout and scallops were very good. One issue we had was the entertainment - which doted on a two year old whose parents allowed her to dance while people at other tables were trying to enjoy a quiet meal. Julia's needs to decide what type of customer it is catering to, and manage accordingly. Just saying.
Loved the guitar player! May have been a bit loud, but overall it was a great experience!
Multiple times coming to this restaurant but today was the best. I had the salmon and it was outstanding.
Excellent food, excellent service, and excellent music - we will be back!
Excellent food. Romantic and authentic experience. Excellent service. Loved the ambiance, dim lighting, live music, perfect for Valentine's Day or date night or special occasion. Loved it and will be going again!
Went with my girlfriend for an early Valentine's Day dinner and Julia's provided a rose and some chocolates on the table for the occasion, was a great thought and surprise for my girlfriend. We were there early at 530 for our reservation, and the atmosphere was amazing. There was some live music, a singer and a gentlemen playing an acoustic guitar, which they do every Thursday Friday and Saturday. The music was amazing light and enjoyable and not overly done, youcould still have a conversation and enjoy the music. The service was awesome, our waiter was able to answer our questions and quiver us to the choices we made for our meal. The appetizers were amazing. I had a the fried goat cheese and beat salad, and my girlfriend had the fried lobster ravioli. Both were great but the fried lobster ravioli. Were absolutely our favorite and we're incredibly good. For our meals my girlfriend had the ribeye and I had the beef medallions and both were cooked absolutely perfect. The steaks were so tender to the point they melted in your mouth. The sides were great and the sauces phenomenal. we finished the meal with 3 desserts between the 2 of us because we couldn't decide. Creme brûlée , salted caramel gelato and the crazy Mumba which was mango and raspberry gelato wrapped in white chocolate. It was all amazing. Julia's blew my expectations and was absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this place.
Food was okay, but slow. Had a reservation and still had to wait. Music was not very good.
Second time to dine, really enjoyed our evening. Food was very good and the atmosphere was great.
Fabulous menu and service is beyond exceptional. Will definitely return again!
We went to Julia's on New Year's Day and were one of 2 tables seated at the restaurant. I think the holiday likely contributed to how empty it was as I've certainly driven by there and seen a lot more cars in the lot!
Given how empty it was, it's hard to actually say how loud the restaurant would be under normal circumstances. On this evening, we received phenomenal service. The food was good. I would definitely go back. What I wouldn't do is order the Tiramisu again... the server warned me that it wasn't a traditional tiramisu (thought the menu did not) it was an enormous serving of goo in a wine glass that was impossible to eat. It was difficult to spoon out with large chunks of very hard lady fingers in a deep wine glass. The dessert was way too rich for more than one bite. My dining partner agreed on that. I doubt that would be missed from the menu. Our steak was cooked exactly as we expected and spicy shrimp noodle dish was good as well.
A little noisy due to a Holiday party but you could still carry on a nice conversation. Food was good and prepared well. Service was good. Recommend the red snapper.
We are vegetarian so we may not be the right to judge rest of the menu. We read about great chef and we live just couple of miles away. Salad had hardly four pieces of the beet salad is served. Autumn gnocchi was tasteless. Falafel was pretty bad taste and ravioli no one liked it. Hardly 3 tables total 10 and we were five on one side of restaurant and service was C grade. Portions are vey small and cost is pretty high. Two appetizers and two dinner dish came $ 51. Too expensive with the type of service and taste of the food. Gave Groupon coupon then server wasn't nice with his smart smile and faces. One bread roll dish with oil can't be reached by five on long table. Asked for butter and got three packets for five of us. In brief, we have to keep begging for almost everything and smile was not displayed anytime. We had reservation and still hostess had to make us wait to set up the table when all the tables were empty except one booth. It was little chill inside but may be except two out of five felt cod so it may be me and grandma. Beautiful decor and lot of room. Good for big family gathering or party but need better taste and lot of service improvement needed. No one stop by even once to check how the food was or warm enough. Many dirty dishes left on table even when they came to the table for water. Even when we wanted to order desert then also table left with some dirty dishes so we even skipped the desert guessing that it will be a small portion with steep price and possibly no good taste. I have been all 48 states and countries around the world so well familiar with great food and services including many five stars restaurants.
We wish Julia good luck because we like them to be successful being so close to our home.
Outstanding Christmas Eve dinner. Seated on time, outstanding service, everyone 's meal was great
We visited Julia's on Christmas Eve and enjoyed a phenomenal experience. The modern décor makes you feel like you are in an upscale DC restaurant and its play on color and ambiance creates an elegant yet cozy feeling. Our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu and provided just the right care for our table. Our drinks were generous and on par. Our food was outstanding, with my husband ordering the New York Strip steak and the London Broil for myself. Both cooked as ordered-medium rare. Our dinner friend ordered the blackened Snapper and there was nothing left on her plate as she remarked how tasty the meal was. Our children accompanied us and they too were pleased with their menu selection, as Julia's also offers a Kid's Menu. Would make a great date night or a girls night out!
Tammy our favorite server was great as usual. Crab cakes were small but ample, sauces and slaw interesting and tasty. Great cocktails and wine. Very busy, getting more and more well known and popular.
Christmas/Birthday celebration with friends. Wait staff was attentive, music was the right loudness and Christmas songs were so nice. Highly recommend ambiance, food and service!
Delicious food, one of the best martinis I've had in a LONG time, and great live music (that was the perfect volume to enjoy while eating).
Nice and elegant ambiance, good service and food. Comfortable seating in a spacious, yet quiet environment. You'll feel at home with dressier attire, though you feel just as comfortable on the more casual side, as well. There is enough parking spaces to self-park (using the parking for the adjacent hotel), but valet parking is also available at certain times -- so call ahead. Very nice to have a fine dining establishment in his location.
It was highly recommend. Food was good, but not great. Service could have been better. Nice place for a get together. I would like to go on Wednesday, they have karaoke.
Great service, wide selection of dishes, and everything was fresh, creative and delicious.
Weirdest menu ever. There was Middle Eastern items, Italian items, things with an Asian or Cajun flair... too much. It is like they aren't great at anything so they try a little of everything to see if there is a hit somewhere. Instead, it was a total miss for me. Not awful... just weird and not good. Also, the whole place was empty (like 2 other couples) at 1pm for lunch. I didn't hate it, but I'd skip it if I were you.
Excellent food, relaxing atmosphere and service by Tammy. We definitely plan to return.
