Since our favorite hideaway restaurant in Castroville closed, we decided to try this one nearby. It was a major disappointment. While the food was very good, if I'm going to spend that kind of money I expect better service and a better atmosphere.
Seated immediately. Food was excellent. Normal wait time for fresh, cooked to order food. Will definitely return.
They had a double boned pork chop that was a signature item...They went to a generic pork loin steak and also raised the price...disappointing that there entree’s are now something you can get elsewhere...We would drive out from San Antonio for the unique food...not anymore
Overall a disappointing experience. The service was fine but the food wasn't even mediocre. My braised beef tips were both bland and tough. Looked and tasted like something you'd get at a middle school cafeteria. The shrimp scampi my wife had was better but not great. The brie stuffed wontons we had for an appetizer were fried nicely and came with a nice sauce but contained almost no brie. Will not be going back.
It was a good experience our waitress was excellent. But, I had stuffed salmon that was not cooked all the way thru. Had to send it back and my companions had finished eating when my food came back to the table. Ended up taking it home
Next time will try a different item from the menu
Could use a better wine list.
Celebrated my husband's birthday, we had lunch menu & the food was delicious. Cant wait to go back & try their Dinner dishes. The Staff was very professional and our waitress Grace was OUTSTANDING 5 STAR SERVICE😊. Thank you❣
Their website is a bit misleading. This is just the best part of the golf club eating facilities. The staff is very nice, but they had a 30+ party in the other room, so a bit swamped. Food is good and lots of variety, but nothing that tells us it's a Texas Culinary Academy place. Wine selection just adequate. Not as good as the Castroville Cafe, but they are only open Friday and Saturday.
Our waiter Tim was very nice and the food was amazing!!
Reservation was not honored from open table. Manager was no where to be seen and didn't try to explain anything, we didn't get any real explanation for why our reservations weren't honored just runaround excuse.
Great cuisine, just outside the San Antonio hustle and bustle. Our Valentine's Day dinner provided a four course menu at a very fair price. The staff was very dynamic, but it retained that hometown intimacy
Beautiful pleasant place to enjoy with family, celebrate a special occasion, or take a date. The menu isn't huge, but has a good variety (from pizza to seafood to beef) that covers the bases, and offers some interesting options if you're looking for something a little outside the box. Staff is friendly & efficient, but not all over you! Prices are very fair as I usually have enough for a take home meal. Sits on the golf course so during the day you'll want to be by the windows or on the patio. Nice outing to country too!
Great food and excellent service which makes us come back frequently..
The most delightful food in Castroville! Great service and superb quality food. The chef is the best! You must to go to Julianna’s! I totally recommended. Great outdoors area for drinks and food as well.
Ate with a large group. Three of us ordered the same meal - braised beef tips. None of them were good. The meat was tough and chewy. Very disappointing since these were out of town guests and we had built up the quality food. My guess is they hurried this dish instead of the usual slow, slow cook. Also, the AC needs attention as it was blowing very cold air right on the table.
Most of our meals were good and we will certainly come again. However, we are frustrated by how poor the braised beef tips were when this is usually a pretty easy meal to get right.
Good, service ok , food was good, staff could steep it up and be more professional and less causal
Went to the restaurant and was immediately asked if we had reservations. The place was practically empty. We did so they sat us and before I was seated was asked what we wanted to drink. Never been here so we had no idea. Did not know it was a wine and beer only bar. The previous place was more relaxed and the prices much more reasonable. This may have been an off night but our experience was not good.
Chicken Parm is great. Busy night so we had to wait a while to place our drink order. After that, service was good.
I went for the BBQ and Pizza, but I stayed for the steak and seafood. Great place!!!!
Average. Nothing special, Just average.
Get the spinach dip. Unorganized and inexperienced wait staff. Overpriced food for what you get.
Julianna’s is a lovely restaurant just outside of Castroville. The menu is varied with salads, hamburgers, pizza, steaks and seafood. We had stuffed salmon and mahi-mahi with crawfish étouffée. It was delicious, as was the artichoke and spinach dip with chips and the sinful chocolate cake and banana pudding. The banana pudding even had real, fresh bananas and vanilla wafers. The service and view were great! Yum! Try Julianna’s and you will be happy you did!
Although we had not been there before it was more of a 19th hole than a dining restaurant. The fried cauliflower was good however the braised beef tips were not as tender as they should have been. Also, the only potato choice was garlic mashed. Thought with it being a dinner dining spot there would have been more choices. We also mentioned that we were having a date night (we NEVER get out) and there was no mention or special table etc given. It was much noisier than expected and that is why I feel it would be more suited as a 19th hole than a dinner dining option unless published that way. Although not that busy we had to ask for refills on our drinks.
The pork chop is one of the best I’ve had in a while.. so flavorful!
Very bad experience.... forgot our appetizer had to ask for rolls and they were frozen in the middle!
We come quite often but not since the move to the new location ... the ribeye we usual split and pay to split was very thin and small. Our waiter the bartender was very bad had to ask for everything twice. Had a Ceasar salad that was $8 and not worth $2. It’s a shame they started out so good we told everyone about it..... we have taken a least 4 different coupes to try it . The owner chef walks around like he is in another world or doesn’t want to be there very sloppy in shorts and crocks . We have been on their over ten times and he has spoken to us once! He needs to pay more attention to what’s going on in the dinning room... before he loses more good customers like us.
The food was very good. The main dish came with a cup of beef & mushroom soup that was outstanding. I'm definitely going beack for more.
Catfish is excellent. Beer was good. Steaks were nice and tender. Overall, good food and nice atmosphere. We will be back.
We come here about once a week. The food is fantastic. We always start the meal off with the spinach artichoke dip and a drink or two. I always gets the sirloin and my husband gets a chicken dish (forgot the name). Sometimes we get the dessert and its delicious. My favorite night is the steak and fries night. Its a great deal a lot of food. And you must get the Gorgonzola dressing on your salad! It is made in house and is delicious!
Julianna's is a wonderful family owned and operated eatery. The food is great and you have a variety of options. The owners and their daughter are great people. :)
Have now been here twice. Each time service was attentive, food was very good. Enjoyed our visit each time & will return.
Friendly and prompt service. Great dinner. Will most likely go again.
The food is great and the beer is cold. Pizza for the kids. What else do you need.
We had a fantastic time. The food was one of the best I've ever had. Your daughter was so friendly and helpful. We enjoyed you all checking on us regularly. We will definitely be back. Thank you for such an enjoyable evening.
Not my first trip here, always great food, service, and atmosphere. I will always come back.
Food was fantastic! The place is ok, lots of local folks. The service was great. Be comfortable asking for recommendations from the menu.
My husband and I had a date night and it was a great place, very friendly staff and great food. Owner makes a great margarita!😉
After talking to Friends, we expected a more classical Restaurant. The service staff was dressed very" casually" and are not trained at all to serve. The Ambiente is like being in a snack bar at a Camping Resort. Food was prepares well and tasted good. A dress code for your staff would be something you should think about. If you want to be a more upscale restaurant and with the food you serve, tablecloth would be nice. Price wise for this location with this Ambiente is on the higher side.
A real surprise out in the country. So surprised to find such a great little spot out in the country. Fantastic menu with daily specials. Great selection of beer and wine. Customer service was awesome. We will definitely be back.
Nice place and great food! Will definitely be going again.
The food here is delicious. The restaurant is in Castroville, 20 minutes from San Antonio. It is open on the weekends. The food is so good, that it is worth the trip to the restaurant. The food is prepared by Chef James Herrera and he is a master at preparing the food. The restaurant is named after his daughter and some dishes after his mother and father. There were a group of us who went at once and we ordered different meals and were all very pleased.
