   My family and I attended the Mother’s Day brunch and were very underwhelmed. We had come to Julep Farms 2 years ago and felt the food, service and ambiance more than justified the somewhat high cost for the buffet. This year was a complete opposite. The food options were limited and everything was just bland and tasted like it had been sitting out for too long (we arrived at 10:45am, the food service started at 10:30am but everything tasted somewhat cold and stale). The bananas foster was the highlight yet served only by itself, no cake or ice cream with it. I know, first world problem, but the for $90 a person, I expect more value, especially since we received it the other time we attended. We also had to ask for our dishes to be cleared and drinks/refills took a long time to get (it wasn’t busy, looked like 30% capacity and we saw wait staff just hanging around presumably until it got busier). It’s a beautiful venue but after this very disappointing experience, I don’t think we will be coming back.

   We reached out to the farm to share our comments but they did not respond so we are posting our comments here. We went for Mother’s Day Brunch but we were not told in advance the menu was not the typical brunch menu. There was an over priced Buffett that did not include any breakfast items. We could not order drinks off the drink menu that was on the table and a simple coffee order was a struggle. The hostess failed to greet us for 5 minutes as she toyed with her computer. Food was mostly pasta and boring hot carving station and desserts that did not taste homemade. Not worth the price or the drive.

   The location is beautiful, the staff very attentive and kind. But the food was a huge disappointment. We went there for Mothers day brunch and there were a total of 6 or 7 buffet items + a beef and chicken carving station. No eggs, no bacon/sausage, no cheeses, no fruit, no juices. And they were not staffed to make anything from the menu. Would not recommend, too many other choices in nearby Highlands.

   Lisa, I sincerely apologize for your less-than-excellent experience. When you made your reservation, did you happen to look at the menu that was posted? It seems bizarre that you would not know the menu before your arrival for a Mother's Day Buffet. It looks even more odd that you would book a reservation for a buffet, and then be upset that we "weren't staffed to make the menu". We do have a phenomenal staff that executes everything we make to the highest possible standards daily. However, we simply were not making our regular menu, but a posted Mother's Day Buffet menu, which the majority of our guests enjoyed.

   If you get the chance...this place should not be missed. I make the visit every time I am headed to Highlands, NC. Nothing beats the food, ambiance, and kindness of the staff. I always have the best food..and now they have a fantastic coffee bar! Oh, and the shopping is amazing. The store is perfectly curated! 10 for 10! Trust me you don't want to miss this stop!

   The food was very mediocre and not super flavorful. The mocktails were not good at all and we tried 3 of them—no flavor and they acted like they had never made them before. Staff was lovely but didn’t compensate for lackluster food and drinks.

   The food was delicious especially the shrimp and grits. Servers were so kind and attentive. We especially enjoyed shopping in the gift shop, which also has some great clothing options. Fun to shop there and enjoy a delicious meal.. We go to Julep Farm’s every time we’re in that area.

    We stopped by for an afternoon bite and a drink and were so pleasantly surprised by this gem. The place is beautiful and the food and service were fantastic. The fried chicken and waffle nachos were insane. I only wish we had time to go back for another meal.
