   Talk about ruining a Mother’s Day meal. When I placed the reservation I noted how special this Mother’s Day was because my mom had been diagnosed with cancer at the end of last year and being the warrior that she is, she completed surgery and radiation. Last year when she was diagnosed I was fearful if we would have another Mother’s Day together. Our server ruined the ambiance of what should’ve been a wonderful late afternoon brunch. We were seated and he said he would bring water. The two tables who arrived after us got their water and were attended to while we were still waiting. I asked him for water and he said “ok” and then took his time bringing us water. For no apparent reason. No one should not be sitting for over 10 minutes without a proper greeting and some water. I have no idea why he did this. He took forever to take our order so I decided we would order the appetizer and entree at the same time.l because we were batting a thousand with this man. When the runner brought our food to the table my mom’s chicken and waffles were COLD. I was so upset and like everything, mom just rolled with it. After eating I ordered the caramel cheesecake. I never saw him go to the kitchen. It appeared that he picked it up from the station where the water was and it was warm. We each at a spoon and let it be done. The service was so poor for such a beautiful day and for a restaurant I had enjoyed in the past. It was so bad that I only left him a 10% tip and I never do that. I give 20% even if the service is so-so. Very disappointing because I had told my mom she was going to love Jula’s. I’m so grateful mom and I were able to spend the day together but he ruined me treating her to a meal.

   The food is very basic. Turkey club was dry and bland in taste. The burger was another miss, Luke warm fries were cold. Serving on brunch on Sunday, service was slow. When I request led hotter fries I was told the kitchen is closing in ten minutes. Will not return for food only drinks and the view

   Salmon and grits during brunch is amazing! Loved the Smoke on the Water drink too.

   It was Mothers Day so we understand the delays and that was fine. It wasn't fine that our food was not hot. It was barely warm and some of the guest couldn't eat much of it because of that. The server and the atmosphere made up for it overall. I've been here several times in the last 2 months so I know this is not normal, just disappointing.

   We enjoyed a wonderful meal overlooking the Potomac River. The dishes are creative and well-presented. The separate menu for indoor and outdoor dining is a bit confusing, especially with the lunch menu changing to dinner menu at 3 pm. We dined on Mother’s Day, which may explain why the wait staff seemed a bit overwhelmed.

   We ate on the Terrace. Wonderful view. Stylish decor. Great Service. Most of all, the meal was succulent.

   My Husband took me for Mother’s Day and the view from the terrace was nice, didn’t enjoy that the sitting for a nice view was high stools and tabletop. The food came out cold and had to send back the next order came out with cold potatoes and had to ask for hot potatoes. The server only visited our table twice and avoided eye contact so none of the condiments we needed ever came. Eventually another server walking pass stated he saw us looking around and asked did we need help at this point we asked for a Manager and the bill and the original server over once the manager came and the manager gave us 50 percent off our food which was not the issue we was totally disappointed in the food, service and it took away from the overall experience. Not to mention the server family came and approached my Husband and I upset that we complained about our service in this establishment, which was very unacceptable. I would never dine here or recommend this establishment to anyone.

    From making a reservation to parking in the garage, everything was seamless. The food was tasty. We had the biscuits with homemade jam and they were amazing. Wish we had purchased more. The view was beautiful.
