Jubilee 1st Avenue Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here on a Friday night. The restaurant was full but not loud, nor were the tables crowded together. It is in Midtown East in the Sutton Place neighbirhood and seemed to have many regulars dining there....we will certainly be back!! There is a prix fixe option which we did not choose; it seemed quite extensive but I believe it might have had time limitations....check with the restaurant if this is of interest. We ordered a la carte and the prices were very reasonable. My husband especially enjoyed the fois gras appetizer. We also had the escargot which were very good, and I had the beet salad which was fresh and crisp without being drowned in dressing. For our entrees we had the beef tartare and the scallops and then chocolate molten cake for a decadent finish to a great meal. The service was superb, and the atmosphere was perfect and cozy, but tables were situated so you didn't feel like you were sharing your personal space or conversation with the neighboring table. We had a very nice evening and will definitely return!!
Jubilee is an anachronism - a neighborhood gem with excellent food and service. On Sundays & Mondays they even offer the pre-theater Prix Fixe menu until closing which is a real bargain. If you like mussels, I'm not sure there's a better place in New York. All in all, one of my favorites.
Jubilee was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint. Very wonderful French food, a mixture of classic dishes and newer interpretations.
Service was extremely attentive but not hovering.
The ambiance of the restaurant is not over stated and very conducive to pleasant dining and conversation.
Eating at Jubilee is not just a a meal, it is an overall experience.
I only gave 3 stars for food because it was ordinary food at upscale prices. An "heirloom" tomato salad was our first course. The dressing was well balanced, there was feta, and the tomatoes were delicious but ordinary, not heirloom. For our entrées we both got rack of lamb with potato au gratin and a grilled tomato. The lamb was done as requested and served with a dark gravy, the potatoes were bland and the tomato had green stuff on top. There was nothing interesting nor exceptional about the flavors. With that, it was easy not to order from the (also) boring dessert menu.
Jubliee is a high quality neighborhood restaurant for the Beekman/Sutton neighborhood, but it is also a great destination dining option for folks who want high quality French bistro food with a mix of other western cuisines. Great wine list, great oyster bar and mussels, and excellent fish and meat options--all prepared with balanced seasonings. Service is top notch and the environment is cozy and sophisticated --like the neighborhood. Brunch is a great value as is pre-theatre menu.
Jubilee never disappoints. Their food is authentic with incredible mussels, fries and traditional French dishes. Save room for the profiteroles. Their specials are also outstanding and their wine list is solid and fairly priced.
The atmosphere and service are excellent, as well.
This is a pricey place I have visited over 6 times a year for three or four years. Iasked for a quiet table. There was no such thing. It was dreadfully noisy.
We take people there for mussels and frites or salad. That's the specialty. Other fish dishes are evry good but the meats are rather sad and so are the pasta dihes.
Jubilee offers solid bistro standards, including mussels, soupe de poisson, and steak frites, all prepared well and served relatively quickly. The service is straightforward, although it sometimes seems that a large number of staff come and go throughout the meal. The cocktails are unremarkable. Overall, a pleasant place to dine casually.
Exceptional hospitality. Lovely surroundings. Friends recommended this restaurant to us, as we visited New York for the weekend, and we are delighted they did. The food was a blend of flavors that made my mouth sing! The presentation was beautiful and the value was incredible for a New York Saturday night.
We always love having dinner here. We bring our friends - those who have never been here before are so happy that they came. The mussels are amazing, but besides the mussels we have had many other favorites. Service is excellent and friendly - this is our neighborhood staple. It's a wonderful restaurant and I highly recommend.
