Our prior visit was a little disappointing but everything was great this time. Warm bread brought right out. Steak cooked perfectly. Service was excellent and attentive even though they were short a server. Will go back.

The food was overall not good Ribeye mostly fat, Brussels sprouts overcooked, fish very dry, soup cold and tasteless, It has been better in the past. Won’t visit again!

Ordered 10 Oz prime rib, truffle mash and seasonal veggies. Husband ordered the fried chicken, smoked Gouda Mac and cheese, seasonal veggies. Prime rib highly seasoned, overcooked and chewy despite the menu’s note of being slow cooked for hours. The fried chicken was actually chicken tenders - more breading than chicken too. We were disappointed to discover that lunch was served all day on Sunday. The food was still good but this was a celebratory dinner and wanted it to be extra special. Also the meal would have been improved by bread or having something to enjoy while waiting for the meal.

Expensive and very average. Filet Mignon was small, under seasoned and chewy. My wife enjoyed the sweet potato fries, but hamburger was tasteless.

2 of us had to ask for silverware. All 4 had to ask for steak knives. The filet mignon was amazing but the ribeyes weren't cooked to satisfaction. Service was slow but the waitress was very nice and apologetic.

We had dinner reservations for my husbands 60th birthday - as we ended up changing our minds and going to JR’s for lunch we canceled our dinner reservation. Lunch was horrible. I ordered the chicken cordon blue special where the chicken filet was completely raw inside from end to end. I asked that the dish be removed my bill. While our server who never gave her name yet had distinctive face piercings was very sweet and apologetic her lack of communication was odd. She never asked me if I wanted anything more or anything different - she simply assumed I wanted more of the same and re place another order for the cordon blue - which I did not want. Never once did a manager come to our table. We were long standing supporters of Root and Barrel and was so looking forward to dining at the Chop House. We were under the impression that JR Chophouse was a higher end chain steak restaurant. Raw chicken … Not a great first or last impression.

We reserved for a small birthday dinner for a special family member. When we arrived there was a note on the door that it was closed! Very disappointing.

Arrived for our 12:00 reservation and were seated right away. The server was very nice and polite. The food came not long after we ordered and it was delicious. Prices were reasonable for what we ordered. Will go back again.

Waited 15 minutes to be seated for a reservation. Hostess seemed clearly annoyed. We were seated with no menus and waited 10 more minutes to be greeted by server and could not order (no menu). Drinks took over twenty minutes to receive. Food was marginal at best. Soup tasted like water. The restaurant was not busy. Tables around us sat with dirty dishes the entire time we were there. Will not return. Very disappointing.

It took the waitress forever to take our order then from the time we ordered our appetizer to the time she took our main course order was 35 minutes. We only got one refill in the 1:40 minutes that we were there. The food looked good but had very little flavor. Then we found out while there this was a animal friendly restaurant. The waitress for the table next to us split water on the dog and the dog shook off the water all over us. Finally when the waitress brought our check I tried to pay right then and she wouldn't take it and said I'll let yall drink your drinks for a minute and be back. First of all we had no drinks because she hadn't refilled them. We got the bar tender to cash us out and we left, never to go back.

This was our second time dining, and it did not go as well as our first time. It took an hour to get our entres. We were told when we sat down that the bread was in the oven and would be out shortly. It came after our entrées were served and was Cold/almost frozen in the middle. A manager came by and asked how everything was and we told him about the bread. He just blinked and asked about the rest of the food. they appeared to be short staffed, and our server was doing the best she could under the conditions.

This was our 3rd time dining there. First two were great. Last night our server Grace, was not friendly. We ordered French onion soup and requested it come out before she turned in our order. That did not happen. The burgers came out just a few minutes after our soup and by the time we finished the soup everything was cold. The manager took our plates and instead of redoing them it appears they were microwaved.

For a nice quality steakhouse, the staff should’ve been dressed better. The hostess wore washed out jeans and a T-shirt, and didn’t seem to smile at all, the servers seemed like they really didn’t want to be there. Our server was very attentive and very good, but it took a while before she came to our table. It was a nice experience, but you need to teach your staff how to be a little more upscale

We were very disappointed in our visit. The hostess greeted us wearing blue jeans and a faded tshirt. Our waitress did not bring us water after we sat down and ordered it. Our waitress was a little too chatty informing us this was her 4 th day on the job. The table next to us was served long before we were, though they arrived after us. The steak was sub-par for the $42 price. It was only a 1/2 inch thick rib eye and overcooked. The salmon was over cooked. My sweet potato and salad were very good. The wine that was offered to be paired with the special of the night wasn’t even available. To the bartender’s credit, she gave me a glass of wine for the same price. We had to constantly ask for our water glasses to be refilled. We were never asked if we wanted dessert.

Unfortunately for our dining party, we all decided to order the Thursday dinner special. The meat was not eatable in any way shape or form. I should have returned it and ordered something else. The whole party was terribly disappointed. I may give the restaurant another chance but will not order the center cut sirloin again.

The AC was out so it was MISERABLY hot. Food was ok but not worth $125 for 2 people, and we didn't get drinks either. Our waitress and server were really nice but overall it was disappointing.

We had Sunday brunch and everything was just as we ordered and served quickly and efficiently. Eggs Benedict were perfectly cooked, the calamari is unique and yummy and the quiche was great. We will be back!!!

The table had not been wiped off and was sticky. Asked for the special prime rib that was suppose to be $31.95, charged 39.95. We questioned and it was refilled at 33.95. Asked for the prime rib medium rare, it was well done. Waitress said, well I see a little pink there and did not apologize or offer new meal. It was tough and I could barely cut it. Bar service was slow. Got our meal before I was half done with my salad. I very very disappointing birthday dinner. I will not be returning.

Several of us order filets. All where chewy. Not tender. One was way overcooked another almost raw. Salmon was very good. Everything was served Luke warm. Grits where room temperature not hot. Our group of 5 felt our almost $300 with tip was definitely not worth a return visit. We we anxious to have a new restaurant in Franklin we could enjoy. We waited until they should have had their act together before trying. Very disappointed.

New owner has kept the same interior from prior restaurant, wait staff is so so, need experience on how to provide attentive service. Don’t ignore the two top for the four top sitting next table over. We tip too. Unique Menu has depth but food we ordered was boring. Trout with browned butter had just melted butter, not browned, and almonds could have been toasted to add flavor. Otherwise, something I could have made at home. Mashed potatoes needed salt (should not have to add salt at the table) but the fresh herbs, thyme?, added nice flavor. She crab soup was boring, good amount of crab, very buttery (almost too buttery), but otherwise nothing to brag about, not a bisque, no heavy cream, just a soup. French onion soup was very good. Cesar salad would have been better with freshly ground pepper (sever rarely checked on our table anyway so why expect pepper ground on a salad, 8:00 pm, few diners). Croutons were lovely, house made? Dessert menu was intriguing but passed. Perhaps lunch would be better. New restaurant so we will try one more time to see if the kinks have been worked out but not impressed. Had a lemon drop martini and got up charged for Tito’s, which I did not ask for, well would have been fine. There are other restaurants in this small town so competition for higher end dining is fierce. Need to up their game both in attentiveness to diners and making sure food not only matches description on menu but is flavorful.

Had the 3 grandkids with us ,, no problems, Shirley temples all way round ( but request in a glass) had the trout, crab cakes, kids chicken fingers,, cheese cake , old fashion and done!!

We are excited to have this restaurant in Franklin to go to when we are in Highlands. The food is creative and delicious and Lynne, our waitress, is outstanding.
