Joyce's Seafood & Steaks
Joyce’s Seafood & Steaks is a neighborhood bistro experience in Houston that has become a favorite with locals ever since opening the doors in 1997. Known for the freshest Gulf seafood and mouthwatering steaks, Joyce’s Seafood & Steaks has been given kudos and awards galore, including from Houston Press, Texas Monthly, Saveur Magazine and the Houston Chronicle.
House specialties at Joyce’s Seafood & Steaks include lobster and shrimp enchiladas, seafood gumbo, fresh fish, and Texas Gulf oysters . For something other than seafood try the filet mignon. Just be sure to save some room for dessert because the white chocolate bread pudding with pecans and bourbon sauce is to die for.
Always enjoy this local restaurant. Food very good. Always have had their seafood. So can't comment on steaks. The bread pudding is the best in the city.
A favorite! A real gem! We love the staff!
The definitive suburban Houston. Busy, generally older clientele, unpretentious. Good sized portions. Average.
Excellent seafood! A treat I look forward to when I am home in Houston. Oysters are great. I almost always ends up ordering the snapper special—it’s so good.
Great neighborhood seafood restaurant. Always delicious food!
Joyce's always has great seafood. We especially love the cold fresh oysters and the red snapper special topped with crabmeat. The salads are always tasty and fresh and the vegetables are cooked perfectly. Service was friendly, responsive and with just the right amount of attention.
Found this neighborhood gem and we were delighted with the food and the ambiance. You get treated like you are family. We will be back to taste other dishes that caught our attention. We went for the seafood of course.
WE have dined at Joyce's many times. Portions are good size , drink sizes as well food is always very good
Great Meal and Service
This is a great neighborhood restaurant. Been eating here for a number of years.
Food was very good, sat us in the back and it was very. Noisy
Excellent food. Very friendly staff. Really good deserts
We all had a wonderful time. Food was fantastic and service was good in spite of being very busy.
You go to Joyce's for the food, not the ambiance.
Excellent food and service. Will be back next time I’m in town!!
Good restaurant, good food and good service. Food is prepared very well
The sauce for our fish was so heavy it made the fish nearly inedible. It was a heavy, Marsala, mushroom sauce that might have been ok on chicken or pork but it was dreadful on the light, fresh flounder.
Thank you for a very pleasant dining experience.
Fried shrimp and oysters were outstanding!
Really good seafood restaurant with excellent food and great value
It was fantastic! Our young men loved the oysters. Oh and the deserts.
Amazing! Food was perfect and the service flawless
Good food and service has been great on the past. Unfortunately there was a problem with a patron upon our arrival & the staff was stressed about getting this situation under control.
Our service was lacking but I believe it was due to these circumstances. Food is always fresh & fish delicious!
Delicious fresh fried catfish fillet dinner and great bread pudding ..only lacking raisins :(
The ribeye was on tough side and cream brûlée not great .
Cdtfish and bread pudding -a hit !!!
Food was great. Service a bit slow. Very cold in side room where we were seated. They need to find a way to make it more warm in the winter & also not allow people to use the back door in the winter time.
Our waiter was very attentive and kind. It was a nice experience. The food was good. The only thing that I did not like was the decor or atmosphere. It kind of reminded me of an old fashion kitchen/bar. I went because of the reviews I read online. I needed a place that had steak (my husband's favorite) since it was a birthday celebration for my husband. I wanted it to be more elegant, but it was so far from it. Other than the style and the decor, we enjoyed ourselves. The noise level was quiet; however, I figured it was this way because we went during lunch like around 2:00pm. There were about 4 other parties having lunch that day, about total of 12 people (including our party) during our time there.
Very nice, food was hot and delicious.
It was amazing!! Staff and manager are wonderful. Very accommodating especially with kids!! Our whole family loved this place! Thank you again for the food and the amazing experience.
Food was good but not great. All four of our group ordered different fish dishes and they were tasty but a bit overpriced what what we got in my opinion.
Service was good-shrimp was very good, but flounder only fair
We meet once a month and try to pick a restaurant we haven’t been to before! It was my turn to pick the restaurant so I went online to Open Table and checked out the Top 10 “hidden gems” in neighborhoods! I found Joyce’s Steaks and Seafood on San Felipe... it was a good location, so I booked it! THE FOOD WAS GREAT!! Each of us had something different and we all raved about it! Excellent choice!
This is a great intimate venue. It's almost like something out of a novel. It's a neighborhood place. The folks running (and owning) the place came from the Ukraine. Love these people! Friendly, and really good food!
We always enjoy Joyce’s. It’s a neighborhood gem for us. The food is well-prepared, and the service is efficient and friendly. I highly recommend it!
We had a Saturday night reservation, arrived a little early. We were seated at a terrible table - right in the middle of the restaurant - waiter path, exit path. Etc. We would usually ask to sit at a less hectic table, but the hostess was quick to walk away, even though no other guests were waiting to be seated. And one of the entres was delivered at about room temperature. Not warm or hot. The other meal was delivered much too hot to eat for 5-10 minutes. The food was good - we like the entree choice list. Just disappointed in tonight’s visit.
Surprisingly this has very few handicapped spaces, (I only saw one) whereas lots of their clientele is older. But we just did a wheelchair instead of a walker for my mother in law and it was fine parking further away. Very special place.....food is great, individual attention given to diners, we had an 87 and 96 year old birthday and they did the candles. Very fun.
Always enjoy our visits to Joyce’s. Food is always consistent. Very pleasant.
Went for Saturday dinner during HRW and the menu was very generous. Very good value and delicious food! Older crowd from the neighborhood - right up our alley. Wish it was closer, we live in Bear Creek, but will definitely make the drive again. Service was very good as well, and the garlic butter is to die for! We both had the blueberry bleu cheese salad and red snapper with green beans. For dessert we had the crème brulee and bread pudding. Very much a do over.
Food and service was excellent! But, $36 for a lunch special was a little much.
However, Joyce's has the BEST bread pudding in town!
Joyce’s is like a little beach town restaurant. We dine there frequently. Food is simple but fresh and well prepared. Ambiance and decor remind you of something you would find in a seaside town, nautical and fishing village motif. Excellent oysters on half shell or try the oyster shooters-delicious! Good variety from fried fish and shrimp to broiled flounder and redfish. Also good salads like the lump crab salad with remoulade dressing. Service is attentive and friendly from all the staff.
