Joyce was a great experience. The service stood out as superb upon arrival; I was greeted with smiles and warmth and that same service continued throughout my reservation! The oysters with the hot sauces were great, as was the braised beef and sweet potatoes, recommended by a lovely staff member. The cornbread and salty butter was right up my alley! Definitely want to try more things the next time I come back. Decor is very cute and intentional, it feels familiar and welcoming so definitely matched the staff vibe!

Husband and I came to Joyce for dinner about 30 minutes after they opened, and the restaurant felt really warm inside. It took a bit of time to cool down, which made the start of the night a little uncomfortable. The decor is cute, kind of like a cozy little resort, but even that felt a bit unfinished. The ceiling was just bare. No beams, no plants, no detail. And honestly, that ended up reflecting how I felt about the food too. Service was friendly, but nothing stood out. Same with the food. We started with the Joyce elote with blue crab remoulade. I couldn’t taste the crab, though I did get a few pieces of shell. The shrimp and grits were bland, and somehow the shrimp didn’t have any flavor. We also tried the BBQ sliders from their Fourth of July collab menu. I don't remember if it was pork or beef, which probably says it all. The pan-seared scallops with salmon caviar were just salty and kind of lifeless. They did gift us two glasses of champagne for our anniversary - which makes this review even harder to write, because I really wanted to to like this place (there's been quite a bit of hype around the restaurant so I had high hopes). We ordered one cocktail each in addition to the champagne, and the drinks took forever to come out. But they were strong, so that’s something. Overall, the menu sounded great and the setting has potential. But nothing felt fully thought through. Decor was like the food, it all felt like it was missing the final touch. I could see the vision, but the experience just fell flat. There are so many new restaurants constantly popping up in LA that I sometimes find myself thinking about places I tried once and really enjoyed, even if I never made it back. Unfortunately, Joyce won't be one of those places..

Went to this restaurant before a date and I went to a stage play at LATC. Parked right across the street. Once we got in, we were greeted with a smile. Our order came out quick, and let me tell you... EVERYTHING WAS TASTY! SO... GOOOD... Enjoyed the Hen, and the Shrimp and Grits, Mac and cheese and greens... We enjoyed them all of it. I asked to speak to the chef, and he graciously came out and I thanked him wanting to know where he worked prior... and it was from a restaurant I was familiar with. The food was outstanding. Thank you, Joyce staff, .. I will return and make room for the Bourbon Peach cobbler. The waitress was wonderful, offering, but we were confused in the beginning not understanding who our waiter was... No big deal, once we got her she was attentive. Treat yourself and go enjoy a meal.

Great spot for a working lunch—it fit the bill for our teams to get together and talk shop but also enjoy ourselves.
