Atmosphere was incredible, as was the service! None of our party of 4 were fans of our meals, though. Undercooked (too al dente) and underseasoned...very small portions. I’ve made better pizza and pasta at home for so much cheaper. If you’re going to spend $65+ a head for dinner and cocktails (we even went during happy hour!) I would recommend Sarto’s or Bar Dough. I hope they figure out the menu soon because the spade is really cool!
Food was delicious - all the way around. Pasta, salads (the grilled Caesar is great), vegetables (grilled carrots!) and the scallops were all exceptional. Gelato - white chocolate caramel was incredible. Service was just right and our server was super pleasant and engaging. Tables are too close together for my taste, but...
the service and food was outstanding. It was a little loud, but not too bad.
Food was fantastic. Pasta dishes were incredible and the starters were also great ! Elk pasta dish - very nice!
The wine was good as well, priced a little high though.
Perfect space for a romantic date night with my husband.
Amazing and delicious, highly recommend. Great for couples and for families
Candle was a little off-putting...service was great!
We went there for our first time and the food was pretty good, but came out very slow. Our server was not very good and acted more like a salesman than a server. He also was more interested in getting the girls phone numbers at the table next to us.
Can I give a standing ovation?! It's like being part of an Italian family that is a lot cooler than you! Thank you for the excellent treatment, Kim
Turn your music down. It's WAY too loud in there. For a fine dining experience that you advertise, you can barely hear yourself talk due to the music. Plus, ordered a pizza and it came with hot pepper flakes on it, which wasn't on the menu. I can't eat spicy hot food. Had to send the pizza back to be redone.
We went with another couple for date night. Everything was excellent. Service was over the top. Very nice romantic place. We will want to come again, maybe for the Sunday special.
Loved everything about this experience.
Decent. Got seated near the wood burning oven which was outrageously hot. But the staff were amenable to moving me. The garlic knot was tasty but absurdly strong in garlic — great for garlic lovers! The shrimp pasta was yummy and so was the ricotta cheesecake. The Don Agustin cocktail was quite boozy and enjoyable. Service was not outstanding but pretty good.
We had the best server. Sadly, I do not remember his name. Our drinks were super good, not very strong, but tasty! Limoncello to end was delicious and sweet. Our meals were just okay. Quite expensive for small portions. The scallops were great, but only 3! Garlic knot was only 1 big one. Pizza was lackluster and low on flavor. Bucatini was delicious.
Overall, it was okay, but very expensive for a not great meal.
Came here for my anniversary and was honestly a bit disappointed. Ambiance was cool, cocktails were good as we hung out at the bar for a bit and had a couple of drinks before being sat. Was able to check out the downstairs area which I think would be really cool when they are serving drinks (not on Tuesday's). The tables are VERY close together which is fine and reinforces the Italian family style. BUT, sat next to two individuals who had no regard for their surroundings and had pretty explicit, distracting conversations. Mind you my GF and I are far from prudes but it was a genuinely uncomfortable conversation to listen to and really deteriorated our time there together on what was supposed to be a special night for us. Obviously not necessarily within the restaurants control. What is however is the food. Squid Ink pasta was very good. Veal Chop was OK, Broccolini was legitimately cold when it came out. Not sure if being a Tuesday they did not bring their "A" game but don't think I'd go back.
Amazing. Go and sit in the basement. Get the chefs tasting menu.
It was good. Pizza dough slightly undercooked. Elk pasta had great flavor, pasta itself was a tad chewy. Drinks were amazing service was good.
Wow! Amazing atmosphere, exceptional service, outstanding food. A must try in Denver!
We enjoyed ourselves here. The food was very tasty and the service was great. Portions were on the small side. We were under the impression, from reading a couple of articles, that the downstairs was a “subterranean bar” kind of a separate entity from the restaurant. It’s not, it’s additional seating in a different and very cool atmosphere.
Excellent service, including reserving the primo table next to the window for my wife's birthday dinner, and comping a delicious and just-right-size dessert. The "Tower of Power" was an excellent value and the appetizers and wine were first rate. The pizza was very good, but might have been cooked a bit longer for my taste buds; it was a bit doughy and the crust was a little tough, but the flavor and portion size were spot on. I can't say enough good things about the elk Bolognese pasta dish; in fact, it may have been the best meat pasta dish I've ever had. Our waiter was a consummate professional, and was right there when needed without hovering or being pushy or intrusive. I would heartily recommend Jovanina's for a special dining experience. Thanks to them for a great birthday dinner treat for my wife.
Everything was perfect. Super friendly and attentive staff.
My husband and I enjoyed an incredible anniversary meal at the chef's counter. The food tasted amazing and was presented beautifully, the staff took incredible care of us without being clingy or stopping by too frequently, and the whole evening was lovely. Will definitely be back!
great menu. fun place. will be back. very nice wine selection.
The atmosphere is quite lovely. The food was really great and the plates were just the right size to share. Our party of 5 had 2 app, 3 salad/veggie options and 3 of the pasta and 3 of the dessert options. Our least favorite was the garlic not (too much garlic and difficult to share). Highly recommend the bibb salad, broccolini, & asparagus. The pasta choices were outstanding. The only dessert maybe worth skipping was the mint gelato. It was like chewing on the mint plant. The strawberry shortcake and rhubarb cake were outstanding. This would be a great place for a girl's night out! Side note - our waiter was attentive, but we felt a little condescending when we asked food questions. The kitchen staff was spot on with the creation and delivery of our food.
It was amazing! Everyone loved it and we’ve been talking up the food all over town.
Absolutely fantastic. From the speak easy like atmosphere in the basement, the impeccable service, the amazing food, and even the wax candles in the dining room, great experience. If you’re thinking about it, Go...just go.
The garlic knots are amazing. However, there's A LOT of competition with this style of food (Italian). How does the food compare to Dio Mio or Tavernetta? It's not as good.
Everything here is amazing! Howie is fantastic & everyone helps out everywhere. The elk pasta is to die for & it is my #1 favorite restaurant in Denver.
Really enjoyed the menu and knowledge of the server regarding all of the drinks. The absinthe pour is quite the experience. Dessert is top notch here as well.
Unique and fun w excellent service and food. Highly recommend
Can I give it 10 stars?! This is one of my new top 5 restaurants in Denver! The food was incredible and the ambiance leaves little to be desired. Highly recommend the elk ragu (if it is still on the menu when you go).
Always a 5 star experience
We had sort of an awkward experience - we felt like our server was annoyed to be working or maybe he didn't like our table. Every time he came to the table we all looked at each other waiting for him to get impatient with us or walk away before we could even order. We were all laughing about it by the end of dinner, but it was noticeable that he did not want to be serving our table.
We went for Sunday Supper. It was so much fun meeting new people and dining family style. The food was outstanding - everything! We also had a lot of fun interacting with the staff. We plan to go again.
The food is amazing. The service couldn’t be better! Our experience was great. The size of the portions, temperature, combination of ingredients, presentation, everything was outstanding. The desserts are to die for.
The only thing that they need to make better is the noise level, the music was too loud and that makes difficult to have a nice conversation.
The food is great! We were seated in the basement at Sotto Voce, which was dark and had an inviting atmosphere. We enjoyed our entrees and appetizers (the broccolini was perfect!) and the drinks were delicious. The atmosphere and service, however, is not reflective of "Italian dining" and we felt incredibly rushed. The tables are way too close together and the the servers tended to talk loudly and were impersonal, so not only did you know what everyone within three or four tables were eating, you also got to hear the same recitation of "favorites," which was always the most expensive option. I did not trust the wine recommendations and the other drinks took too long to be served.
Sotto Voce was a great experience, round booth in the corner was perfect. Grace, our server, was super, though she was absent a bit, she knew the menu and created a very nice evening for us. Food was very good. Don't miss the bone marrow luge!
Great homemade pasta! Very friendly service.
What a happy surprise! Fantastic, creative Italian. The Parmesan soufflé is s must. Everything we ate was so delicious. Bravo.
We went for Sunday Supper and it was outstanding! Gracious, warm, and generous hosts. Fantastic experience.
