Whether it's date night, late night, or your next event, JOTORO is your perfect place. We like to say JOTORO is where mariachi meets old school hip hop. Our bar serves up hand-shaken cocktails, craft-batched margaritas, and over 50 labels of premium tequilas.
JOTORO is a full-service, 220-seat eatery that feels like a neighborhood taco joint featuring a comfortable and rustic feel with one of a kind eclectic art designed exclusively for the space. We have created two outdoor covered patios that flank the prime corner of Sparkman Wharf, which is the perfect spot for people watching and dramatic views of the skyline at night.

Seated outside Lovely dinner
Visiting from TN, my husband & I split the wedge salad which was delicious! The spin on this classic by using grilled pork belly with a chili lime bite was indeed the perfect bite. I had the Baja shrimp tacos and hubs enjoyed the TX Style Steak & Cheese Enchiladas. Our waitress was very attentive. Overall very nice place!
I don't remember who our waitress was. I know she was in the military, but she was amazing! was on top of all our orders, never missed a beat, and her energy was amazing!!
now the food is alright, not much to choose from, but okay. the drinks are amazing.
Our first time here. Food was good but a bit expensive for Mexican - but it's the location too. Good people watching and a nice place to walk around before or afterwards. We were a bit miffed that we had a reservation and arrived on time, they sat the couple in front of us without a reservation and then we were told we had to wait 10 minutes for a table to be cleaned. When my husband questioned it, he was told that reservations are more like call ahead lists??? We would go back for the nachos - looked great at the table next to us.
Great location. Fun venue. Nice variety of food and drinks. Great for groups and celebrations.
The food never ceases to amaze. We are always trying something different and it is all equally good. I recommend to all of our friends
Freak service and drinks were awesome! And atmosphere was awesome as well.
Very good food for the value. Great atmosphere and location. Very good customer service and the waiter, she was fantastic.
Visited Jo Toro for a date night with the wife, as i work in the area i had visited before, but wanted her to experience it. We had the trio starters with now our favorite drink Blueberry Gin Fizz! Everyone was courteous and attentive. We will definitely be back.
Because Eater recommended this restaurant we went. Mistake. Uninspired Mexican. Not my thing.
Great, great service by Kaley, good food although the menu is limited, nice ambiance
This is our third visit to this amazing restaurant and every time the food is amazing. We keep trying different things and it is all equally good. The margaritas are also excellent. The service is great as well. If you are looking for good Mexican food this is the place.
This restaurant was not to our taste. The guacamole was chunky and tasteless, the chips were greasy, the food was all too spicy. My kids food was not touched. Go here solely for the well-crafted tequila cocktails and friendly service. Skip the food.
I was thoroughly impressed with the food. So flavorful and not that old school Mexican that is smothered in cheese or sauce. Standouts were the ahi tuna appetizer, guacamole, shrimp tacos and the cocktails. I was underwhelmed by the service. We got seated at a table and asked if a booth was an option and it took them almost 10 min to return and accommodate. And for perspective it was a Monday night...not a weekend. Once seated, it took forever to get our first drink. Which we all know is where money is made. I hope they are just working out the kinks.
The drinks are good and the Brussel sprouts are great. I had the Taqueria Salad and I am sorry but for $17 that was not worth it at all. It had nothing in it that cost $17. It was worth maybe $6.
The drinks were amazing-loved the mangolada the most but all were great as well. The amount of food provided is great and matches the price point. I love where this is located and I'll definitely be back again.
Me and my 3 friends had high hopes for this place particularly since the location is in Sparksman Wharf. The reservation for seating was the best part of the experience. The food was basic at best and definitely not worth the value (I got two small blackened shrimp tacos for $14!). My other friend's food was just as expensive and not even tasty for the price. The drinks were not good either. We had to send three drinks back because they were just bad. They sat us on the patio (good thing), but they sat us in a very small table right near the door which was too small for 4 guys that were all over 6'2 feet tall (yes there were other tables available that could facilitate us). To me, this place may read like a tourist trap. I am so disappointed as I really wanted to like this place. Myself and all my friends agreed that will be the first and last time we ever will go to JOTORO.
We had an amazing dinner with fine cocktails!
Had a good time with my girlfriends. Customer service and food was wonderful.
I expected more in terms of food from a Michelin starred chef.
Hostesses and waitress were great! Food is a giant step above typical Mexican fare and you will pay extra for that. Worth it to me. You can tell they use high quality ingredients and make from scratch. Trio chip dip was a big portion with freshly made chips, steak enchiladas were tender topped with a smokey, rich red sauce. Shrimp on the tacos were cooked perfectly and just the right amount of veg and Thai sauce. Really an excellent meal. Order the skinny margarita for fresh made natural ingredients! We’ll be back.
The guacamole was the worst that we've ever had. The tacos were OK but nothing to brag about especially for the price. Service wasn't bad but we felt like we were being rushed. Our seats were in the area next to the trolley cars and it is quite noisy when they go by. The Tuna appetizer was quite good though.
Great food and atmosphere. Waitress was excellent. Food does have some kick to it.
Queso was like nacho cheese at a stadium and the guac was tasteless. The salsa had a chipotle flavor which I don't care for but realize is personal preference. Entrees were just ok (tacos and burrito). I am told the margarita was terrible (think bottled mixer rather than fresh ingredients). Service was fine but we won't be back.
Food was good, cocktails were underwhelming and did not live up to the hype. Overall, not worth the money in my opinion.
Menu is pretty small, but may be reduced due to COVID. Food was good and good service. Outdoor dining area is large, covered and comfortable
The margaritas and shrimp tacos were AMAZING. Our waitress was a bit flustered and inattentive.
I really enjoyed the restaurant. Everything was good and staff was excellent.
We had a phenomenal time. Food was excellent.
Love the brunch!
Everything was good. Food was excellent. It was VERY loud. The music was VERY loud.
JOTORO has the potential of being a good restaurant, but needs to workout some kinks. The noise level will never go down, so I would recommend dining outside. As far as the food goes, one person in our party ordered a burito and it was cold, so the manager very nicely offered to get him another one. The second one arrived just as cold. That was unforgivable! He was not willing wait for the 3rd one, so the manager again very nicely took it off our bill as well as his 2 drinks. My husband got a steak taco and said his steak was very tough. The rice and beans that came with his and another diner's meal was barely luke warm. My shrimp taco was very good.
Hopefully as time goes on, the kitchen mishaps will get ironed out. The service was good, but showed the newness of the place. We might give it another try in a few months, if we can dine outside. There is nothing enjoyable about not being able to hear people at your table. One other note, bring a sweater. On the night we went, it was in the 60's outside and the air conditioner was running full blast. All 4 of us were cold and we had sweaters!
The skinny margaritas were phenomenal, as were the shrimp tacos. Service was great. Will absolutely be back! Excited to have a new restaurant in the area.
Erica’s service was amazing. We will definitely come back.
It’s was great amazing guacamole and tacos!
It was good
Delicious cocktails, good food. Easy to eat clean or naughty deepening on what you’re looking for.
Entirely negative experience. Table was over a hour later than reservation. Food was cold. All beverages were pre made. Our server was lovely but the hostess staff was unprofessional and unhelpful.
Jotoro has become a very successful restaurant in the Channelside / Sparkman Warf area. Great drink, good food, good service and a fun atmosphere, especially Thursday to Sunday.
