Joseph's Restaurant at Renault Winery
Had been here before and had a great time, so decided to come back last night with friends. Very disappointed with our visit. Place was empty, but not surprising because it's in the middle of nowhere and it's mid December. Menu changed from last time and not as many interesting items as before, especially the short rib mac & cheese. There was only one server for the three or 4 tables and he was not very good. Didn't offer any specials until we asked, didn't pay attention to how we ordered things and never stopped by to see how things were or to ask if we wanted refills. Food was OK. Salmon Tacos and the Truffle Champignon were good. My wife's prime rib was overcooked and dry. My buddy & I both ordered the Rib Eye and his was under cooked and mine was overcooked. And no, it wasn't that the plates were reversed, he didn't want onions and I did, so they just cooked them wrong. His wife did like her Shrimp & Crab Risotto though. Overall, much worse than last time and we won't be back. Not worth the 40 minute drive.
When we arrived, they couldn't find our reservation (luckily we had the email confirmation). They did seat us in a booth (all the other guests were at tables, with no one else in booths, so it was evident our reservation got lost). It took a while to get service (we almost opted to leave when someone finally came)...drink order was wrong, then no offers to refill drinks. Everyone was nice, and the food was average...the whole experience was not the holiday celebration we hoped to have that night.
The Appetizer, salad, bread, and service very average. The dinner entrees the four of us ordered were delicious. We were pleasantly surprised! The restaurant was empty, it was a rainy cool evening. The renovation the winery is going through could be why it was not crowded. The waitress did not show us the winery wines. After my review, we were invited back by the owner to return after the renovation. This generous offer was accepted and we will return after the renovation.
Ok, so the place is a little dated, but the food was good, the service was good and the wine was really nice. Once the place gets updated (in the process) it will be a nice little hidden gem. I give the owners some kudos for trying to update the place because is certainly is a diamond in the rough.. Good luck and we'll be watching for the updates and try back again soon.
This is the second time we dined at Joseph’s for lunch. The food was good, but liked the menu selection the first time we went a bit better. Our server brought us homemade chips which were very good. We had a vegetable flatbread which was ok and a turkey BLT wrap, which was good. What we love about Joseph’s is the wine. Our server was excellent and friendly, even though she was in training. One annoying part of our lunch were all the flies. We had about 5 flies buzzing around us the entire meal.
Thank you for making my friends Birthday dinner so special great food and service
We had such a great time! The food was amazing and the singer really got the crowd going. The staff was extremely nice and attentive. Will definitely be back!
First and foremost, our server, Meghan, was wonderful. This party of 6, and then two more came, was joyful because of the excellent service that Meghan gave. She was patient, answering all our questions, and helped one person who needed to order something off the menu due to dietary constraints. The menu is limited, but what is one it was very good. The hamburger was done just right, the turkey club was big enough to take home half for a future meal. The vegetarian wrap was brimming with fresh vegetables, and everyone was pleased with their meals. The two customers who ordered wine were happy with the selection, as recommended by Meghan. We started at noon and left at 3 and didn't feel rushed at all.All is all it was a wonderful lunch.
The onion soup was the best ever and the half price appetizers were great!
I highly recommend this place it was a fantastic weekend there we ate at Joseph’s to nights and everything we had was wonderful
We took friends there for dinner. The service and food was outstanding.
It’s my wife’s birthday, and we decided to stay local.....great choice. Our meals were excellent and we’re glad to see the renovations taking place. The service was top-notch, as well. Tough to beat this one.
Loved it. It is beautiful and idyllic. The food was great.
Everything was great. We were pleasantly surprised to see that you had lamb chops on your brunch menu which was a big winner with our crew. Everyone said they were done well and were tasty but they were somewhat cold. Prime Rib needs to be a bit more on the rare side. Other than that, we had a wonderful time and service (Kaitlyn) was great. Everyone was accomodating and friendly.
Food was great. Surprised more people haven’t found this place. Even though the complex is in the process of renovation, food was still top notch. Service staff was stretched thin because of other events, but hostess stepped right in to help.
Our server was outstanding! The food was delicious! There was a "singer" who was extremely loud though. Otherwise everything was great!
I was disappointed with the Sunday Brunch. It was not very crowded, yet the waitress was not very attentive. She poured one cup of coffee, but never offered a refill. The food was good, but not outstanding.
We waited about 5 minutes to be seated, however after being seated it felt like we were invisible. There was a young lady filling water glasses at a large empty table. When I asked her for water she informed me that she would get us some when she was finished filling the glasses at the large empty table. She came over with an attitude, never introduced herself and filled the glasses. I believe she was part of management and could use a few educational classes in customer service. Our waitress eventually came to the table to take our drink order, the drink I requested could not be filled (pina colada). When asked what I could get she informed me anything else.? I did order the coconut Margarita, which was very good. We got our drinks a while later and I asked for bread and was told that when we ordered our meal someone would bring it over. Our waitress was very nice but obviously had too many large tables. She informed us that they were understaffed, not my problem. We ordered soup which was tasty but the salad some members of our group ordered, seemed to come out of a bag. Still no bread and we asked again and were told it was being baked? The entrees were very disappointing. 2 family members had the pork which while tender had no flavor. My son ordered the pan seared chicken, which never saw a pan to sear it in and had no seasoning. The blackened tuna was so over seasoned you couldn't taste the tuna and while the menu said it was served over linguine it in fact was served over regular spaghetti.
Our waitress did her best and I did feel sorry for her.
We had Easter dinner at Joseph's last year and had a wonderful meal and fantastic service. That was not the case this year. Everyone in our party was very disappointed in the meal and the service. We will definitely rethink our choice of restaurants next time.
Run down restaurant with food that tasted like it had been leftover and reheated. Omelet bar was really good, but that is about the only thing worth eating. Restaurant was empty which should have been our first clue.
Our waitress was super attentive and friendly. Food was great. Restaurant was louder than usual because of a live singer in the bar area. Overall, dinner was great.
Host Rick went out of his way to see that all tables were well taken care of, we'll go back soon
When we made reservations, we weren't told that Sunday is brunch only. $28/adult is obsurd for the quality and limited options. French toast was hard as a rock. Potatoes were overcooked. Breakfast items (bagels, muffins, etc) were stale from sitting out. If I had known, we would have gone elsewhere for better food and price. Very disappointed.
We stayed at Tuscany house last Saturday night and ordered room service from the restaurant. It was excellent. We then went down the next morning for their brunch buffet. We were very happy with everything they offered and were impressed with the spread they put out. One of the restaurants employees, Erik, was very attentive to our needs. He also always had a smile and was extremely helpful and friendly. His presence added to our pleasant experience. I recommend trying this hidden gem whenever in the area.
Our visit was so disappointing. It was nothing like the brunch I had come to know and love at Renault. The website didnt indicate the drastic changes. The food little more than a basic breakfast. The quality was less than mediocre. We drove 45 minutes a s were deeply disappointed as that was our Valentine's day celebration.
Every time I've been to this restaurant the experience was fantastic. Excellent food, great service, lovely atmosphere. I have no idea why in the world anyone would complain about this place. All I can think is they lack experience with fine dining. Spent Valentine's dinner there and it was phenomenal.
We have an amazing time every time we come to Joseph’s! It’s one of our favorite getaway dinner dates. Caesar is amazing at his job and the chef does a phenomenal job!
Over service as far as asking us every 2 minutes if we needed anything.Sitting almost on top of the couple next to us ,with empty tables all around. No big deal, had a better than average time.People working there were very nice.Love to play a round of golf there some day. Thanks for a nice nite.
We have been th Josephs many times for dinner which was always 5 Star! Brunch left a bit to be desired but we enjoyed ourselves anyway. Service was slow
... Not enough staff? Buffet was only OK we expected more! Eggs were cold and hard for scrambled tasty but sat there until we left? You need a few more choices. The best dish was the bread pudding it was excellent. The eggs benedict served at the table was very good
The crab cake was tasty but had way to much cartiledge in it. We didnt finish it
I hope the Sunday Brunch improves. We r excited to see where you are taking tje Winery in 2019. Good luck see you soon
We had a group of 12 meet here for Sunday brunch. The buffet food was turned over frequently enough, although the food itself was nothing special. However, the "bellinis" were really just sparkling wine with syrup. And our biggest problem was that all children in our group were charged the full buffet price, including the 18 mo old. This is outrageous and is enough of a reason to never return and definitely warn others about. The mediocre food and service really solidify our desire to never return.
We were not acknowledge at our table for 10-15 minutes. Despite it being a prefixed menu, our app and dinner meals came out wrong. There was a significant time lague between placing our order and when our food was delivered. We ordered glasses of wine when our dinner was delivered to the table. I ended up having to go to the bar myself to retrieve these glasses of wine. By that point, we had already finished our dinner.
Had dinner reservations for New Year's Eve at 7:30. We arrived by 7:05 and were seated right away. That's the only good part about the evening. We were completely ignored for 15 minutes before someone came over with rolls and water and said our waitress would be right over. After about another 15 minutes the waitress showed up and took our order. By 8 p.m. we still didn't have our drinks and my husband had to flag down another server to get our waitress. She showed up and apologized that we didn't have our drinks yet and said she was going to tell the manager. Sat there another 5 minutes, watching other servers bring trays of drinks to all the other tables, and we left. Couldn't even say how the food is, since we didn't get anything but rolls, they were good! If you like rolls, this might be the place to go. Also, no prices on the menu, what's the big secret?
The food was excellent, the portions rather small and the price kind of high but it was New Year’s eve. We were a bit disappointed that there was no option for apps and portions were small.
Our poor waiter could not get to us as often as we would have liked due to the very large tables he had to wait on in the back room where we were seated. We had to wait quite a long time for drinks until the second .bartender in the party room helped out.
We used to go to Joseph's all the time and the food was great. Not sure what happened, but we had a terrible meal. First of all my steaks came out raw. I asked for medium rare and was insulted by the waiter for claiming I didn't know what medium rare was. I cut the steak in half and showed her that it wasn't even cooked. They took it back and obviously just seared the outside , brought it back to me still raw In the middle. My girls filet was rare, asked for medium rare but would eat it because it is filet and she is not that confrontational. I sent mine back and asked for a brand new strip at medium well this time. By the time they brought my meal back, my girls food was as cold as ice and they said they would take it off the bill but took the plate away??? What does that do for us. I refused to pay for either steak and the restaurant was empty. I couldn't imagine what my meal would be like if it was busy. I was extremely dissatisfied and they ruined our anniversary dinner. Things happen, but when I go to a restaurant and pay for a meal, I expect a basic steak to be an easy order.. and if you know your kitchen under cooks things, the waiter should let me know that and maybe I would change the temperature I'm ordering at... we won't be going back. What a disaster!! I'm very frustrated that my dinner was ruined like that. I will be sending a message to the owner
Nice and remote. Great find. Liked the ambiance. Had fun. Great service.
We made a reservation and it was completely unnecessary as we were the only couple sitting at the bar. Didn't have the wine I wanted. The soup was excellent. Unfortunately, it was all down hill from there. My dinner, the salmon, potato and vegetables were cold. The dish was hot, but cannot say the same about the entree. My husband's dinner, shrimp and chicken in vodka sauce was also cold and the vodka sauce was bitter and dark. The bartender offered us free dessert to compensate, but at that point we just wanted to leave. Two other couples did come in and sit at the bar. The bar was out of Jamison and the Pinot Grigio they wanted.
The turkey diner was overpriced and quite skimpy. To say we were disappointed is to understate things dramatically. There was one scoop of mashed potatoes, a mere smattering of stuffing, ample string beans, but sufficient amounts of actual turkey meat. The kids’ size ($10) was identical to the adult size ($32) so, in effect, we paid $22 for a slice of pumpkin pie, as the kids got a scoop of vanilla ice cream with their meal. We live nearby, and our sons have been staying at the adjoining hotel for its convenient location near us.
First time we were disappointed in many years of dining at Joseph’s a couple of folks ordered coffee & had to send back it was cold & some of our party ordered the Turkey dinner & the food was not hot & the turkey was dry. The others who ordered from the regular menu were very pleased this won’t stop us from visiting again because this was the first time this has happened
Best fun ever due to the entertainment. The singer was very engaging and we sang along.
Wouldn’t recommend for Thanksgiving meal. It came with both dark and white meat. I don’t like dark meat so it was useless to me. The stuffing and cranberry sauce wasn’t that great. The only thing I really liked was the mashed potatoes. The pie was good too but overall I would not go there again for Thanksgiving
