Hopefully it’s just covid struggles, but their menu has shrunk. They practically only have cheese options for appetizers so we ordered 2 brie’s and 2 salads for 5 people. All four came out on small plates and everybody could just have a couple of bites. In the past portions were much larger, salads like 4-5 times. Our waitress barely came to the table. We sat with empty drinks and plates for quite a while and I had to get up and go get somebody. They weren’t busy. The waitress was standing talking to coworkers at the bar. The food itself was ok, but the quality and quantity are way down, especially for the price. This used to be one of the best places in town. I hope they get it together soon.
Amazing!! Loved the food and the experience. The lattes were the best we’ve ever had.
Josephine House hits all points!
Food, service, ambiance and value! Never disappoints. Harold was awesome!
We had just celebrated our anniversary the day before and wanted to do breakfast at a place we had never been before and The Josephine did not disappoint. It’s in a classic Austin neighborhood and is very charming. We sat outside and were treated to good food, coffee, and great service. It was a great start to the day and offers yet another outstanding dining option in a beautiful city!
We were asked to leave our table before 2 hours.
Food tasted cheap. My ribeye had a burnt taste to it.
Birthday. Food was awesome. The only negative was we sat outside at the sunniest table I’ve ever seen and the sun was beaming it’s rays of hellish heat on our libations. But again the food was really delicious.
Charming place especially for brunch! Every bite is absolutely delicious!
We sat outside and were inundated with flies. It was disgusting. We had to leave before finishing dinner or wine. The server was nice but our table was the only one without a fan hitting it and therefore the flies weren’t swarming others at the same rate. They offered a free dessert but we did not want to stick around any longer to receive it.
food and service was great! Just LOTS of flies outdoors, not the restaurant’s fault though
Our first time at the restaurant. Won't be our last. Great server, knowledgeable. Noisy only at first when the person at the table beside ours spoke as though through a microphone. Proportions are generous. Setting charming.
We really enjoyed our brunch at Josephine House. The ambiance is great! The waitress was fantastic and split up our pancake entree for us. She even checked several ingredients out for us so we could determine if it was safe for pregnancy (it all was btw). reservations are super helpful as it is a small restaurant and it didn't look like they are seating inside.
Each part of each dish/plate vies for the top spot in this experience.
best Fries bar none, and best burger in Austin.
Dessert is a life well spent
And then there is the Green Juice - damn!!!!! wakes you up and aids in enjoying the rest of the meal
Richard and Susan Marcus
FLIES!! Yuck. Just miserable. Surely you can do something.
With a bit of investment the outside could be turned into a patio allowing it to be used during rainy weather avoiding a debate on boxing & leave vs being able to sit inside.
Too bad as the food is excellent !
Waiter did not check in on us until we were almost done eating our food, took a long time to get the check. Value for food was not good, very overpriced. This was surprising because we have thoroughly enjoyed dining at Jeffrey’s before so we expected similar high quality service and food, but were let down. Other brunch spots offer better quality food for lower prices.
Loved the food and the ambience! Pancakes were amazing, as was the Gazpacho! Highly recommend.
Great local place with cute environment and great serve
Good, but expensive not many options and small portions.
Great staff and food
Pancakes to die for!!
Like many places these days, it's understaffed. The food was very good, but the staff were not attentive.
Josephine House has consistently delicious food. I usually have the shrimp and grits and really enjoyed it. The service is efficient but never intrusive. Love it!
Wonderful service. Delicious food to suit everyone even my picky MIL who doesn’t get too adventurous with food but thought the snapper with sofrito was delicious.
It was a little loud inside but the food was excellent!
Service was sweet, but very slow. Also, the flies were terrible outside. Hard to eat our food.
Food is delicious. Highly recommend huvos rancheros @ nutella morning bun
Great time. Hostess and waitress were terrific!!!!
Super delicious! We really loved their nutella buns and the fruit plate. Also the pancakes were great! We loved going for breakfast. ALSO get their orange juice! Delicious and fresh!!!!!!
Fantastic restaurant, with a great vibe. Sat outside on a warm summer night, but was still able to stay cool with a combination of fans and overhead covers. Cant wait to go back!
I had a great lunch with an old friend. Our service was wonderful, our salads were delicious. Our only complaint was the flies. It was distracting and not appetizing and I am hopeful this amazing restaurant can come up with a fix for that. I have seen little spinning things on tables at other establishments with the same issue.
Had a party of 12 for a business lunch and worked with the staff to reserve a beautiful space on the patio! Was hard to find anywhere in town willing to accommodate. Food was incredible and ambiance is lovely. Our server Josh was phenomenal and had quick recommendations for everyone, including an amazing selection of wine.
First time we’ve been there for brunch. We’ll definitely go back!
Service was very good, though not excellent. The pancakes were much sweeter than I remember, and not quite as good.
This place was amazing. The reviews and pictures and the wonderful experiences we have had at their other concepts is what brought us here. Once we got there, we were a little disappointed in the variety of options on the menu. We selected an app and two entrees. Once we got the food though, we were blown away. What seemed like standard Texas menu choices turned out to be a thoughtful and expertly executed and interesting food. We will be back. Completely blown away by the food, simple, clean, elegant, delicious!
LOVE Josephine House. Will become a staple Friday night dinner spot.
We had a lovely brunch at Josephine house. Our table and food were great. Overall a really nice experience.
We’ve been a fan of Josephine house for years and when we can get a reservation these days we are happy and excited to get back on the deck. Would love to see some new items on the menu now and again but it’s always a wonderful treat.
