Wonderful the food and ambiance were amazing.
The tapas are wonderful at Joselito's. We visit fairly often and like the menu changes when the seasons change. Always great food and service.
Charming. Atmospheric. Sophisticated. Leisurely and laid-back. Delicious and refined food. Great bar and friendly staff
This was my first visit and I enjoyed the food, service and ambiance. I think the brunch menu is a great deal and I hope to visit again.
Outstanding food and good service. Table maintenance could’ve been better but staff was friendly and attentive. Really loved the option of sizes for the dishes and cocktails were on point.
Tapas were very small and overpriced; service was polite but disinterested. There was nothing special about the restaurant's location or ambiance to suggest the need for expensive dishes. The bathrooms were shared public bathrooms, outside the restaurant, accessible via a door leading into the corridor of the building housing the restaurant.
I don't particularly like small plates of anything and Spanish food is no exception. I think Joselito's probably has great Spanish food but it's not a flavor I especially like; not spicy enough. I went during Happy Hour so the noise level was low but I think it gets pretty loud later.
This restaurant is a real find. Had dinner here before the theater, and really enjoyed it. Sangria is good, frozen ice cube of fruit is a nice touch. Nice starter of complementary bread with olive oil/herb dip, with very good and flavorful olive oil. The eggplant appetizer was a little stringy, and not as good as other versions of this that I've had elsewhere. But the duck breast with risotto is one of the best dishes I've had in recent memory. The duck breast was tender and not gamy, and the risotto was flavorful with a light touch of fig. Monkfish is another memorable dish. I'll be back to try the rest of the menu.
Quiet relaxed atmosphere. Excellent small plates and very friendly and attentive wait staff. The sangria was delightful
Great food, service was terrific. The duck was amazing and all of our party enjoyed it. The server had a problem splitting the check, but they worked with us and solved the issue. I would certainly recommend for an intimate group or couple.
Salted cod fish fritters with honey aioli was outstanding, as well as the Five seasonal vegetables, cream cheese dehydrated black olives, maldon salt.
However we found the -Wagyu bavette, roasted bell peppers, chimichurri,- Stewed homemade pork meatballs with cuttlefish,- Penne pasta with Spanish chorizo and crispy Manchego, -Tuna crudo, avocado mousse, pineapple-ginger sorbet, almonds, cilantro, as well as the - Jabugo hand cut black hoof Iberian ham, picos, ran the range of good to just ok.
Went for brunch. Service was incredibly slow and inattentive. The steak I ordered was over cooked and not seasoned at all. Waitress kept on supplying the table with little bottles of sparkling water but we were charged $3 a piece for them, and were never asked if we wanted them.
The cold octopus salad is amazing served with their fresh crusty bread. The other dishes we ordered we're equally as delicious. Excellent cocktails too! Joselito has made it to my top 3 restaurants in DC.
Each visit to Joselito has been excellent - we have never been disappointed.
Naked guy outside peeing
Love the conviviality of the place. Service is outstanding and the food is both delicious and a feast for the eyes. Perfect for an enjoyable dinner with a date or your spouse. Do me a favor, and just go some time.
Valentines Day dinner, food was delicious. Most dishes available in 3 portion sizes: tapas, medium, and family style. Good amount of seafood represented in the menu. Decent wine list. Service is outstanding. On a busy night, the place may feel a little cramped, but intimate otherwise.
We enjoyed several notable small plates, including the Basque style Maryland crab, duck, and monk fish. Our server was very pleasant and appropriately attentive despite the busy night. Looking forward to a return visit.
The sangria and food are very good and the servers are excellent. My big complaint is the tables for two in the room with the bar are way too small and close together. In a small plate restaurant a table should have room for the small plates. There were empty larger tables for two in the back room but they were not offered to us. Are open table customers offered the less desirable seating?
Good food, excellent service in nice bistro surroundings. Docked a point for going way too light on the seafood content (one shrimp in a dish meant to be shared?!) of the seafood-rice dish -- I expected better given the price point and the tapas we had eaten earlier. But on the whole, a worthy find and definitely one of the better restaurants on Capitol Hill.
Charming, cozy, bistro atmosphere. Thoughtful food with a surprising and pleasing twist on alimony every dish. The red sangria was terrific, not sweet, clever presentation with a frozen cube of fruit over which the wine was poured. The eggplant spread and stuffed pimentos were amazing!
The food at Joselito is superb. The choice of different size servings is a real plus. Service is very good. It is a fantastic place, both for lunch and dinner.
Tapas style is what we chose, and the drink specials were fantastic
Another fabulous dinner at Joselito. We started with a couple creative cocktails before moving to an excellent Tempranillo, which was well priced and recommended by our attentive server Leo. The tuna crudo was to-die-for, as was the homemade zucchini soup—perfect for the rainy evening. We can’t stay away from the pork shoulder, and it never misses. Even the warm bread with a simple olive oil and rosemary mix was spot-on. We’ll be back soon.
Normally I would give this place 5 stars- I LOVE IT! But, the bartender couldn't mix drinks well (Old fashion was horrible) and he tried to tell me the "specialty drink" was a screwdriver- and then lied about what goes in a screwdriver. The duck is my favorite dish, but it was horribly overcooked and dry. Not sure if they have a new crew, but the meal itself was not worth what we paid. Only giving 4 stars because I've been there many times and this was the first time I've been disappointed.
The other staff was fantastic and even chatted with me while I waited for my guest to arrive.
We had a wonderful Super Bowl Sunday meal at Joselito Casa de Comidia. A five-star meal. Excellent tapas and outstanding red sangria and great wait staff. We sampled six and I would go back again and again just for the roasted sardine on a bed of spiced potatoes, the braised pork cheeks and the grilled Iberian pork shoulder. Nice ambiance, feels very "home" and such a pretty place after dusk when the lights are switched on.
The waitress was not very nice -- I just didn't feel at ease. The food was fine but quite pricey.
Friendly knowledgeable service, great atmosphere, wonderful food beautifully presented. We will return often. A new favorite
Magnifico restaurante. Disfrutamos mucho de la cena, la compañía , el entorno, la decoración y la atención personalizada recibida.
Gracias a Javier, al Chef Sierra y a todo el personal que nos atendió. Son encantadores.
Tonight we arrived at 6.20 pm at the restaurant for a pre-JFKC concert (8pm) and we were promptly seated.
From the outset I must say that the food we received this evening was superb. Presentation, taste ,temperature and portion size were all excellent !We had Sardines with Mashed Potatoes, Jamon Iberico , Fried Boquerones, Penne with Chorizo and Manchego and Fishermans Seafood Rice.. It was the first time we ate in this cozy restaurant and the food certainly did not dissapoint us. However that was different for the service. Although our waiter was friendly he clearly lacked service timing skills. It took well over 20 minutes to get our first tapas and 30 minutes before we got our sliced jamon iberico!!! The rest of the small dishes were also slow to arrive. As we had to attend the concert we had to leave in a hurry and we could not have dessert!!
On paying the bill ( which took a long time to get even after requesting the waiter to speed up the process) we met the manager of the restaurant by coincidence. He asked us if everything was ok and of course I told him the story. He was extremely courteous and apologetic.
I would recommend this restaurant with 5 stars for food but they better get their service organised in the future.
We did the chef's tasting with wine pairing which was a real treat. The food kept coming with a delightful array of tastes. While service started out slow, once the order was in, the pacing was spot on for the rest of the evening. It was a splurge to enjoy the chef's tasting (special occasion). I would return...loved the atmosphere.
My husband and I celebrated his birthday at Joselito. We have dined there a number of times and always love the food, wine, ambience and warmth of the manager, chef and staff. We had not been for a while, and it always feels like coming home. It is the perfect place for a date, evening with family or friends or a business dinner. They do a great brunch as well on the weekends. If I still lived on the Hill, I am sure we would be there every week! I recommend Joselito to all my friends. It is a wonderful find.
Joselito is just excellent. The small plates/tapas are all interesting and very tasty. We have been several times in the past six months and always find something new to try and enjoy.
Overall good. Mix-up with basic drink order and stale bread, but no one got sick.
Our experience at Joselito's was lovely, up until the point where we were abruptly asked to leave. It seems that the restaurant had other guests that it wished to accommodate and rather than let us know that we had overextended our dining experience politely with a 10 minutes heads up, the hostess came to our table as we were finishing our dessert drinks and told us that we had to depart - immediately. Frankly, I was shocked and embarrassed. We left and the whole lovely dinner experience had been ruined. It was unfortunate as the food and ambiance are wonderful. The customer service was, however, severely lacking.
The cuisine was delicious and the staff were very helpful
Unimpressive service and the food was not great. Went for brunch so maybe dinner is better?
Wonderful time, the duck is to die for. Only thing to distract from the evening was the hard chairs, which didn’t bother me but bothered my guest. 100% will go back
My wife and I met in Spain in the late 1970s and lived there together for three years so dining at Joselito is a special pleasure for us. The atmosphere, service, food and drink all are consistently outstanding. Our most recent dinner was during Restaurant Week when their menu is, even more than usual, an outstanding value.
We went for the Restaurant Week special tapas menu. It was all great--we haven't had Spanish food in too long. The standout was called soy duck with garlic rice, which says nothing about its tender rare duck breast with crispy fat and the creamy mushroom-fig-arugula risotto ("but we can't call it that," said our informative waiter; he said this is his favorite dish too). Glad we went.
