Joselito is one of a kind and our favorite place to go for Sunday lunch.
Our neighborhood favorite where dinner is always well-prepared and perfect for sharing family style.
La mesera era un poco cortante y no muy pendiente de la necesidades de la mesa. La comida fantástico y el lugar muy bonito.
It was truly disappointing to find that a dish a majority of us wanted was 86’d after the first order. The restaurant was not busy at all so something must have happened in the kitchen. Service was good but the poor guy was a bit stretched.
I stopped in for lunch at Joselito. I ordered an appetizer portion of some grilled pork and potatoes. The dish was tasty but expensive based on the portion size.
While Barcelona offers great people-watching and Jaleo offers more breadth, Joselito excels at irresistible madrileño-worthy tapas. The multiple portion options allow you to supersize your favorite bar snack into a family meal - why hasn't anyone thought of that before? We ordered cocktails and found them bland - better to skip right to the reasonably-priced wines or delicious sangrias. Rack of lamb and ceviche-style scallops were standouts, while the salt-cod fritters were neither salty nor satisfyingly fishy. The service crew is scattered and inefficient - we had to chase down servers a few times - but the food was so good, we didn't mind the occasional wait.
This visit was my first. I will be returning soon
The food was spectacular, service was prompt. Our server was very personable and very knowledgeable.
Wonderful food, great and friendly and helpful service, homey and romantic setting.
Atmosphere was very nice. The food was good though pricey for the portions. The dishes came out slowly. We had finished all of our dishes before the rice dish arrived long after we had ordered and this was on a weeknight when the place was not particularly crowded. Had to ask to have water refilled several times and it was a scorching hot evening. The red sangria was excellent.
Disappointing. The food was okay but not fabulous. The service was poor. I went for restaurant week and so got a discounted price. But I wouldn't pay full price and probably won't return. Too many other better options in DC.
Friends visiting from out of town and I thoroughly enjoyed our brunch. At first we were disappointed because they were serving their restaurant week menu and not brunch. When we told our server she came back with a brunch menu so we were able to get what we wanted and it was excellent. Thank you.
My wife and I are regulars at Joselito so we don't let the crowds during Restaurant Week keep us away. The service was a little slow for our early Saturday dinner but, even so, service was fine and the food, wine and atmosphere were as reliably outstanding as ever. And how can you beat three excellent tapas and dessert for $35?
Great food, the service needs to be a little more polished. The food came slowly and my guests and I kept getting food given to us at different times. The sangria was a little over priced for the value.
We’ve been to joselito many times, and this experience did not live up to previous visits. The food was not quite at the same level, and the service was not as sharp.
Decent restaurant, but in a city with so many great offerings I don't see myself returning. The biggest issue was the service which made us feel like a burden rather than guests. The food was fine, most dishes were forgettable, but nothing was offensive. The serrano ham and iberico ham was good, but looked like it was cut with a hatchet.
We celebrated a friend’s birthday with excellent food, sangria, and service. Thank you!
We visited Joselito during Restaurant Week. It was very busy, nevertheless the service was outstanding and the food delicious, with very creative interpretations of classic Spanish cuisine and generous portions.
We'll definitely go back.
An excellent Spanish tapas restaurant on Capitol Hill. Went there during restaurant week and we all felt it was a very good value. Service was friendly and efficient, wine selections and cocktails very good. We would go again.
I was disappointed the tuna was over cooked. However, I would return for another meal.
We celebrated my husbands birthday here and he was a happy guy. Iberico jamon is his favorite and they have it as a starter.
The service here is SO friendly and from start to finish, they really take great care of you. Highly recommend the cumin fried anchovies!
Best Spanish restaurant in DC -- will definitely be back again.
Have eaten at Joselito at least a half-dozen times over the years--it's so good that we are willing to deal with D.C. area traffic and Capitol Hill (lack of) parking to return. Really, this is a great little place, with food that's usually terrific and never less than good. Great for lunch, brunch or dinner. We're fans of Jose Andres' Jaleo--a groundbreaker in its time--but the tapas at Joselito are even better.
Service: Staff was slow to take our orders (and a nearby table also had difficulty getting their check). Staff did not remember who ordered coffee or who ordered which dishes; we had to direct them both times. Staff/kitchen did not pace entrees correctly; the five entrees arrived in three different groups with minutes in between. The restaurant was not crowded, our group was not large or demanding, and the brunch menu has only 9 dishes -- there is no explanation for the poor service.
Food: The french toast was tasty -- for a dessert. It is inappropriate to serve ice cream with a brunch dish and doubly so to not explain this on the menu. It was not proportionally sized to the other brunch entrees. The omelette, which two of my party ordered, was a disaster. The vegetables were old and watery. The goat cheese was nonexistent. The portion size was small. The side salad had yellowed lettuce shreds, mealy tomatoes, and unripe yellow fruit (?) that was inappropriate for a savory salad. The beer I ordered was not served as a full pour, which is clearly marked on the glass.
On a positive note, the bread was excellent.
Always outstanding in every way!!
Yummy food. Very attentive wait staff. Very comfortable place.
Such a gem! This was my first visit and I'll definitely return. Service was friendly and food recommendations were spot on. Absolutely delicious cod fritters to start, savory omelette, and the bread pudding dessert was an absolute winner!
We had one of our best meals...enjoyed the wine pairing menu. Delicious food and the wines were superb. Wait staff was excellent and very friendly! Will be back! Thanks!
Love this place! Delicious food and friendly staff! It is also loud enough and casual enough to bring a toddler and no one notices the loud baby noises :)
Food was incredible, especially the tasting menu which was absolutely out of this world. The service was very attentive and the wine recommendations were all on point.
Fabulous food, service, decor and ambiance! Definitely will return and recommend.
A lovely evening meal with my boyfriend, we booked last minute and had a nice table in the center of the restaurant. Our favourite dish was the Tuna Crudo - the flavour and texture were outstanding. We also enjoyed a fantastic Syrah blend wine from the Wine menu.
I loved Joselito Casa de Comidas. The only reason. I gave it less than five stars for the food is that my choices were limited by my shell fish allergy and I don’t eat red meat or pork😜 The food I did have was very tasty. The service was lovely. I highly recommend Joselito Casa de Comidas .
Fabulous food and wonderful wine! We loved this restaurant
Great food, ambience and service!
We tried the chefs tasting menu - it was delicious!!!
The decor, ambiance and level of service are all outstanding. We really enjoyed our conversation with the waiter as he helped us select items from the menu, the owner came by to check on us, and at the end of the night they brought us a complimentary dessert drink. Strongly recommend for dates or intimate dinner gatherings.
Was a special birthday occasion for seven people. Everyone could not have been more helpful in putting together the menu, in making us welcome, in the service. The food, of course, was outstanding.
We went for a late brunch family celebration and enjoyed it very much. The service was friendly and prompt. I had the fisherman’s soup which was hot and tasty. Noise levels were ok for conversation. A nice family run restaurant for family or friends get- together.
