About this restaurant

  • Great for scenic views
  • Charming
  • Good for special occasions
Welcome to The Jolly Fisherman, Craster. Combining stunning sea views with delicious home cooking and beautifully kept ales, this is a tastefully refurbished pub with tradition and character at its heart. We’ve taken great care to retain the charm of this historic pub with stone flagged floors, low beamed ceilings and comfortable seating. In the winter months, you can relax by one of our roaring open fires and in the summer enjoy the view from one of the most spectacular beer gardens in Northumberland.

Great location and great sea food at reasonable prices, Kippers fantastic but mussels slightly overcooked for our taste if I could find one negative, other than that fabulous overall experience, staff are brilliant.

A very popular destination, so book in advance as we did. Service is very good, the ploughman's was very good, I would have liked it though if someone had checked whether we wanted blue cheese, as it is an acquired taste. I would still recommend as a go to destination, you will not be disappointed.

We have been coming here for years. But we probably won’t be back for a while. The menu doesn’t change apart from the odd daily special. Despite having a reputation for seafood it doesn’t have much on the menu. They are very dog friendly which is a bonus as we now have a dog!

Been a few times, however I was disappointed this time. I really fancied a Sunday roast and ordered the roast lamb. When it arrived and I took a bite, I realised it wasn't just rare but practically raw! It really wasn't plesant to eat. I did mention it to to waitress and she offered to send it back (which I probably should have) but I declined. I left most of it. It really should state the cooking being rare on the menu or mention when ordering and offer the guest a well done option. For £21 I was very disappointed.

Lovely late lunch in the upstairs restaurant with fabulous views of the bay at Craster. It was towards the end of a busy lunch time and the pub was still busy so a little wait for service but not a problem. Fish cakes and burger were tasty and the chips were ‘proper’. Would have liked there to be a fish & chip option but sadly not. Definitely worth a visit if in the area but need to book if looking to eat in the restaurant.

We had a fabulous evening at the Jolly Fisherman! The food was fantastic, beautifully presented and tasted amazing. The staff were brilliant, view wonderful and the best the zero alcohol selection, we have come across. Will definitely come back, if we are in the area again!
