Look for classic, time-honored French dishes as well as modern adaptations from Chef Scott Crawford’s collaborative team, including our talented Chef de Cuisine Madison Tessener and Pastry Chef Krystle Swenson.
Incroyable :) merci pour le bon service, belle ambience et bouffe excellente.
Amazing staff and food! We asked our waitress what she recommended and received an "insiders" suggestion of what to order.
Really fantastic food and wine -- we felt like we were back in France -- even the restrooms were adorable!
Everything was wonderful! Our server was knowledgeable and attentive. The food was flavorful, cooked perfectly and arrived in a timely manner. I did wrestle a bit with the toast in the onion soup, but it was delicious and worth the fight. Tables were a bit close together, but again, I didn't mind... just an observation. Will definitely be dining here again!
Rooftop dining, especially on a crisp fall evening, was sublime. Flavorful fall menu. We were in Holly’s incomparable hands. Her recommendations, which she did not hesitate to share when asked, were spot on. The libations were some of the best we’ve had during the past few years.
The food was fantastic! Great plate presentation & flavors were superb!
It was perfect. The food was outstanding. The environment was perfectly lit and just situated beautifully.
Worth all the hype......
What an incredible experience! The service was wonderful, and the food was fantastic. The prices are very reasonable and well worth the cost. This was one of the best culinary experiences I’ve had. I will most certainly be back, and I highly recommend it!
Jolie was everything we hoped it would be. Delicious food, friendly service and a lively, casual and welcoming atmosphere. Just an overall great experience from start to finish. We will not be waiting to get a reservation in order to return. The rooftop and bar are lovely options available for walk-ins nightly. We plan to make this a go-to just for a dinner out and not just special occasions.
Cool spot... but didn't totally love my choices.... Small portions, pricey... and definitely liked sister restaurant J Crawford better..... Plus not that many choices on the menu which was limiting....
Lovely meal start to finish. I stalked opentable for a res and luckily one opened. 5pm seemed so early, but I was glad to make it and try Jolie. The food was decadent. I loved having a view of the kitchen too. Made for a nice experience all around.
Fabulous from start to finish. The menu was small and right to the point. We ordered a lot of appetizers (I think all but 2) and 2 desserts. Everything was delicious. The rooftop was lovely.
What a gem! Love this little piece of Paris – right here in Raleigh.
This was great! Wonderful service and excellent foot. Will definitely be back.
A beautiful rooftop table, a delicious French menu, and great service from Holly and others. Kudos to Scott and his new restaurant.
Very much enjoyed the experience. Impressed by the beverage program as well!!
Food was excellent, service was perfectly-frequent. Noise level on the rooftop is quieter with tables further apart than the first floor, so dine downstairs if you prefer a more energetic ambiance.
Our dining experience was fantastic. The food was great and the service was right on time. My hubby and I went on a date night and had a great time. Thanks!
Jolie is a beautiful restaurant. It will transport you back to Paris. Open cooking, close tables, warm. The thing that lacked the most was the service. I was surprised considering how little the place is that the service was so terrible. After 5 minutes our waiter came up and said "Do you know what you want to drink" no hi, how are you, any questions? Straight to the point. Then he asked us for our order. We initially ordered 2 appetizers. The waiter then came back 5 minutes later and rushed us for our entree order. Our food arrived ALL AT ONCE. If I am paying over $200 for a dinner (for 2 people) I want the food coursed out. We wanted to enjoy our appetizers before our meals. We were not given that experience. What was interesting is the table next to us received their starters first then their entrees. Not sure if our food was just inputted wrong or what. We don't have any reason to be back at Jolie. The food was good but nothing that makes you go WOW and the lack of service was the worst of it all. Save yourself money and go somewhere else.
Excellent food and the roof-top seating is very cool (well, not so cool with this stinkin' hot September). I had the beef cheeks. So...incredibly...good. But....just as I was winding down, we got the chocolate torte for dessert. It blew me away. Best dessert ever. Get it. Really, just get it.
The food, drinks, and service were amazing. My only two complaints are that the restaurant space is small so the tables are very close together. The chairs become uncomfortable after sitting in them longer than an hour. But overall it was a lovely dinner and I would absolutely go back again.
Amazing!! Everything we had was off the charts! Steak Frites, Flounder Almondine, Beef Burginone and Chicken Fricassee. Wait staff was incredible as well. Highly recommend.
Fantastic! Exceeded expectations which is hard to do. Scott Crawford executes well. Love the quaint feel and the food was spot on. Look forward to trying out the terrace up top next time!
Excellent French bistro (via North Carolina), cozy, loud, friendly. Some dishes are superb--the turnip vichysoisse, the chicken fricassee (who knew that old cafeteria staple could be so good?), the steak tartare--and others are fine, if not as interesting as the others (the sweet liver mousse shouldn't be billed a foi gras, given what chefs around the country are doing with foi gras--that dish should be a showstopper given the brand of the place). Desserts are great, and the by-the-glass wine list is limited but smart--just what I'd expect in a Scott Crawford venue. I will return!
Dined on the roof even though it was in the low 80s it was a great experience. Service and food were both great. We will return
Excellent food, service and energy. You can’t go wrong eating here. Can’t wait till next time.
First time visiting Jolie .... an exceptional experience. My wife and I visit and dine in Paris and this was reminiscent of our experience in some of the Parisian bistro’s we enjoy.
The decor is welcoming and invites conversation and menu choice comparisons with diners at adjoining tables.
The staff was well informed and offered several excellent suggestions.
The wine ... a Bordeaux blend .... was very good at a reasonable price. And both the appetizer and entrees were excellent ( the beef cheeks ... outstanding).
Jolie ( although on a smaller scale ) provides Raleigh residents an excellent alternative to Vin Rouge ... without the drive to Durham.
The only downside... parking can be challenging depending on the time.
We shall return soon!
Just as we have come to expect Scott Crawford creates an experience that is uniquely perfect! The food was outstanding we tried 9 different dishes and each of them was outstanding. The chicken was a surprise as I don’t typically order chicken out but we were very glad we did! We already have a reservation for next month! Can’t wait to be back!
I’ve been looking forward to this restaurant opening for a long time. The menu is small with 7-8 appetizers, 4 soups/salads, 5 main courses and 4-5 desserts. The wine list is small too, with all French wines. The food is what you would expect in a French bistro, all perfectly executed. The appetizers are probably big enough to share; my duck rilletes with duck fat chips was easily enough for 2. The couple next to us shared the escargot. My wife’s steak frites was delivered medium rare, as ordered (and recommended by the server) and a generous portion of fries, crunchy on the outside and soft inside. My veal cheek bourguignon was a somewhat surprising late summer dish. Served in a casserole, the veal cheek was pull apart tender, with creamy whipped potatoes. For dessert we ordered an awesome pot de creme and an apple cake. The cake was a little disappointing but the pot de creme was excellent, as were the cookies served alongside.
The restaurant is very small, probably room for 25-30, including bar seating. There is a rooftop bar too. That makes reservations hard to come by. To get a reservation earlier than 9:45, we had to go out 2 months.
We so enjoyed the roof top setting. Food and service was outstanding.
Our first time, we had a delicious meal. I had the Steak Frites and my bride had the chicken dish. We ate outside on a beautiful night.
Spent a lovely evening on the Rooftop dining at Jolie for our first time. The food was excellent, very flavorful with nice presentation on the plate. The menu has several gluten free items, and the chef can work with much of the menu to create other gluten free options. There is a short list of wine choices, but the bottle of Chardonnay we had with dinner was very nice. Service was very good all around, and our server (Canaan) helped with describing the choices and making some great recommendations. Already made another recommendation in October, and looking forward to it.
Jolie was such a pleasant date night with my husband! As soon as the email was sent out about reservations being available, I made one. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is so delicious. We did not have a chance to see the rooftop because it was raining on and off. Next time!! Our waitress Jaime was super sweet and attentive! Anything on the menu I couldn’t pronounce she helped me with. She did a great job describing what all the menu items were that we asked about. We will definitely be back and I will continue to recommend Jolie to friends and family!
Since we’ve dined at Crawford and Son 4 times maybe our expectations were to high for Jolie since it’s only been open for a month. The onion soup and the mussel soup were great. The tartare was uniquely different and my spouse loved it. The apple dessert was superb. In fact the only disappointment was the veal cheeks main course that I ordered. The sauce was so strongly flavored that the veal cheeks, which were very tender, we’re overwhelmed that they tasted like the sauce instead of veal.
I informed Jolie of my comments before I left the restaurant and let me assure you that I will try it again soon and I’m certain it will match the greatness of it next door neighbor.
With the exception of the size of Jolie, everything else is exceptional. The interior is VERY small and cramped. You sit so close to the neighboring tables that you could easily reach over and take a bite off of your neighbor’s plate. Fortunately the noise level is sufficiently energetic that you don’t feel like you are eavesdropping inadvertently on others’ conversations. The food was delicious. We had the steak tartare and duck rillettes to start. The portion size for both was large enough to share if you are not particularly hungry. For entrees we had the steak frites and the veal cheek bourgignon. The former is a classic presentation that is very well executed. The latter is one of the most flavorful dishes I’ve had in a very long time. The service was excellent. One minor nit - the vintage of the wine we ordered was not as represented on the menu. That’s a pet peeve of mine, but otherwise everything about our meal was wonderful.
The food was wonderful - could use a little more selection. Its quite noisy but the roof top is amazing and quite. As you enter the restaurant there is NO place to stand as you wait to be seated. I would love to see a Sancerre by the glass available! I will be back. the Trout Almandine was outstanding!
Scott Crawford and his team transported us to a French Cafe. The small menu is curated to showcase fresh, local ingredients just like you would find in France. The duck rillettes were full of flavor and while the ricotta quenelles did not disappoint but they were almost too sublime alongside the duck. This was not a criticism but just something to consider on our next visit. We went on to enjoy a beautiful summer tart and wonderful trout almandine. We split a salted chocolate tart for dessert.
Jolie is a small cafe and it is noisy. You will sit close to other customers. It is not inexpensive but you will be treated to a gourmet meal that satisfies your appetite - heart and soul. I may never get back to France but I will definitely return to Jolie.
