Beautiful setting - excellent food and service
We were in NYC for our Anniversary and had a special anniversary Dinner on Friday Evening before going to the theatre. Staff acknowledged that we were there for our event. The restaurant is beautiful after the renovation. We had a drink at the Bar right at the restaurant's opening. The young lady serving at the Bar was lovely and personable and our Manhattan cocktails were delicious. We then proceeded upstairs for our meal and everything we ordered, starters, entrees, side dishes and desserts were delicious. I can't really recommend anything because everything we had was delicious and other diner's meals looked delicious. Portions were very good size. Staff were very attentive. I can't imagine anyone giving this restaurant a bad rating or unfair criticism. Because we had theatre, we arrived right at opening but by the time we left, the place was packed on both floors. We loved it and we will be back!
Everything was perfect
Loved the renovation of this landmark restaurant. The new decor is beautiful but the new menu is outstanding. Everyone in our party loved each course they ordered. We will be back and have already recommended.
We love the "new" JoJo! Beautiful decor and great food.
Recent refurbishing. Have dined there intermittently since opening. Food no longer outstanding, but competent. Shows signs of dilution in chefery. Jean-Georges hand quite evident in the ‘old days’. No longer. Thus, feel that Jojos now is overpriced and not a place to ‘dine’
It was very busy the night we were there but we had an early reservation so we didn’t get involved in the inevitable backup later in the evening. Staff were friendly and efficient but didn’t rush you along. Food was innovative and great.
I am a fan of Jean George but had never been to JoJo and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious and the service impeccable. I will definitely return.
My with and I have been huge fans of Jean-George since he opened his first NY restaurant, Lafayette many years ago. We've loved JoJo from the very beginning and were heartsick when it closed (though temporarily). I am happy to report that the reopened JoJo's is every bit as great as the original incarnation. Whether it be superb tuna tartare, JoJos signature chicken, the salmon, to the amazing butterscotch pudding -- everything hits all the right notes. Highly recommended.
Have eaten ar JoJo in the past. The new incarnation recently opening four months ago has managed to reach a new level. Beautiful renovation, staffs attention to detail, superb presentation, just a perfect dinner. I have a strong feeling that once on the radar it’s going to be the place to know. Will return.
Vastly different decor and lighter in color and more open space, and the noise level is much higher, but the food is amazing and the menu is very creative, even better than before.
Excellent food and ambiance but service was bad
We had an amazing evening, the food and atmosphere were wonderful!
We wish we could go back every week!
Would also recommend our waitress Anna...very knowledgeable about menu and really cared about meeting our every need.
The service was terrible. And they did not listen at alll.
First time back to JoJo since the renovation and we were pleased. We went before the theatre so didn't spend a lot of time but were very pleased with the salmon (which we both had). It was moist and perfectly cooked, and the vegetables were good as well. Service was pleasant and efficient. I would just request a baguette rather than the dark bread which was served.
JeanGeorge Vongerichten at his early best - JoJo's was his first restaurant in NYC and now rejuvenated. I have been a fan through all its decorative incarnations because his inventive and delicious food, good service and lovely restaurant ambience make for a compelling and never fail combination. Thankyou for a joyous oasis in all the NYC restaurant noise.
Wines are very expensive
Food is excellent. Farm to table
Ambiance decoration super!!!
Extremely attentive people who work for the restaurant made our wait for the table pleasurable and there generosity for waiting were unsurpassed.
The choices we ordered were with wonderful, balanced and subtle hints of different herbs and presentation.
Ambience simple but refined with great art and fresh flower arrangements which made meal and overall experience more vivid and memorable.
Love this place And love the update. We had an awesome waiter and the place is really cool and fun. Updated cocktail menu really appreciate it. And really friendly service.
JoJo is fantastic, everything from the ambiance to the wait staff to the delicious food is well curated. The sea bass and chicken were excellent and I love that each night has a different special. Must try on upper east side.
It is designed like a cafeteria . What happened to luxury and elegance ? Obviously it appeals to the casual crowd that doesn’t own a necktie . Still the food was good . This however would have been laughed at in the 80s . Times change .
No complaints -- but no raving either. Very good, but below the city's best.
Newly renovated inside is brighter and more casual. Don’t like new menu. Not as many interesting and appealing dishes. Broccoli soup was overly spiced.
Staff is nice and they didn’t rush us.
lobster was dry, noise level intense, not worth the redesign
This used to be my favorite restaurant. I went there recently with visiting friends who had been there before the renovation. I find it no more comfortable to be served by a 100 percent female staff, probably all under 35, than it is to be served by an all male staff in black suits. This bevy of young women were not ready for prime time, nor was the chef. Greated by a young women with bunny ears, it seemed more like the playboy club. I asked for the duck breast medium rare and was told that they prefer medium because it is more tender. I agreed to take it however the chef prefers it. It arrived tepid and grayish brown. It was tender, but seemed to have been steamed. The sauce and the sides did nothing to excite the palate. The lamb shank arrived in a pretty covered casserole. The server, although she described at length the long slow cooking process, seemed unaware that the lid might be hot. After the first unsuccessful attempt to remove it she used a cloth and placed it on the edge of the table where it fell into someone's lap. Attempts to remove the lamb form the bone and plate it were too difficult for her and she placed a bitesized piece onto the plate. My very polite friend was no more successful and spooned out the potatoes. Finally, a collapsed serving table against the wall fell over onto us. Had I not been a guest, I might have complained.
We had a really delightful dining experience! The setting was cozy, comfortable and decor was on point for early Spring. The food was very good, as expected for this restaurant group, though I would have expected it's own dessert menu. All of the items listed were either from Nougatine or ABC. We went with the pudding since it's always a winner (the best in the city) but I would have loved to try something new. Overall a wonderful experience and can't wait to go back!
Wonderful service, great food and pleasant ambiance. We’ll be back.
Food was outstanding. Menu was excellent. JG did a nice revamp of JoJo.
Beautifully designed and elegant! That goes for both the townhouse setting and cuisine. Im putting this one on my favorites list!
We went for a pre theater dinner. The waitress did not pace the experience we had to rush out before having tea. Two sorbet offerings on the menu were not available. The staff is young and eager and need more seasoning for this caliber of restaurant. Seating is very tight and difficult to have a private conversation the majority of tables are positioned too close together.
The food was exquisite, and while I miss the look of the old JoJo's, the rehab looks beautiful. This was one of the best meals I've ever eaten in NYC.
The food was excellent! That noise was a bit too loud and the price was a bit expensive but other than that the restaurant was great!
Waited 25 minutes to be seated for our 8:00 reservation made weeks before. Several other parties were also waiting in a very cramped space. Since there is no comfortable place to wait, I would recommend they manage the reservation book more carefully. We loved the food but our experience was marred by the wait.
The space is beautiful, the food was excellent and the service was top-notch. The noise level, however, was a deal-breaker. My two guests and I had to yell at one another to be heard over the unbearable noise. The restaurant was full to the gills and that's great for business but, sadly, none of us will ever return because we do not enjoy dining in that sort of setting. We purposefully dined early (6PM) with the hope that the place wouldn't be too crowded/noisy.
New space looks gorgeous and food is fantastic and well priced! Winner!!
Beautiful contemporary renovation which was well worth the wait while restaurant was closed for some time. It was nice that most of the staff was women.. They were very sweet, quite competent and genuinely kind..Jean George’s unique French- Asian touch made his food interesting and a unique experience as usual.”
Service was exceedingly slow. Entrees took almost an hour to arrive
Food was excellent
I continue to be a fan of this chef!
Our experience was outstanding at JoJo. In fact, we had dinner twice within five days! The staff was amazing and our waitress greeted us with a hug when we returned for the second meal. We will be visiting JoJo every time we return to NYC. A delight!
Our first time at JoJo since the renovation, the change was welcome as the restaurant was in need of an update. It is light and welcoming with a nice ambiance. Our server was delightful and totally professional. Our starters, the Thai flavored broccoli soup and the foie gras terrine were both exceptional in flavor and presentation. Both of us had the steak main course which was prepared to perfection and fork tender. We were pleased to find their signature molten chocolate cake still on the menu and as wonderful as ever. The carrot cake was absolutely delicious with a not too sweet rich cream cheese frosting. We definitely will be back and recommend it to friends
