Waited 25 minutes to be seated for our 8:00 reservation made weeks before. Several other parties were also waiting in a very cramped space. Since there is no comfortable place to wait, I would recommend they manage the reservation book more carefully. We loved the food but our experience was marred by the wait.
The space is beautiful, the food was excellent and the service was top-notch. The noise level, however, was a deal-breaker. My two guests and I had to yell at one another to be heard over the unbearable noise. The restaurant was full to the gills and that's great for business but, sadly, none of us will ever return because we do not enjoy dining in that sort of setting. We purposefully dined early (6PM) with the hope that the place wouldn't be too crowded/noisy.
Beautiful contemporary renovation which was well worth the wait while restaurant was closed for some time. It was nice that most of the staff was women.. They were very sweet, quite competent and genuinely kind..Jean George’s unique French- Asian touch made his food interesting and a unique experience as usual.”
Service was exceedingly slow. Entrees took almost an hour to arrive
Food was excellent
I continue to be a fan of this chef!
Our experience was outstanding at JoJo. In fact, we had dinner twice within five days! The staff was amazing and our waitress greeted us with a hug when we returned for the second meal. We will be visiting JoJo every time we return to NYC. A delight!
Our first time at JoJo since the renovation, the change was welcome as the restaurant was in need of an update. It is light and welcoming with a nice ambiance. Our server was delightful and totally professional. Our starters, the Thai flavored broccoli soup and the foie gras terrine were both exceptional in flavor and presentation. Both of us had the steak main course which was prepared to perfection and fork tender. We were pleased to find their signature molten chocolate cake still on the menu and as wonderful as ever. The carrot cake was absolutely delicious with a not too sweet rich cream cheese frosting. We definitely will be back and recommend it to friends
Great food and beautiful renovated space. Excellent service.
The renovation was beautiful and I absolutely loved the decor and the use of colorful glasses and plates that don’t necessarily match. The food was good - but I guess I was expecting a little more from a place like JoJo. Our table wasn’t quite ready when we arrived on time so we had to grab a drink at the bar. Not the end of the world and we understand they were busy, however the bar was tiny with only 4 stools and it was the only place cocktails were made for the tables. So you couldn’t even stand without a server going to get their drinks. Not the the worst but not the best experience. However, The cocktails were really great - we had the thyme lemonade and a dirty martini. The crab dumplings were probably our favorite dish. We also had the warm seafood salad - while it wasn’t bad it was not excellent. The calamari was chewy, the shrimp was prepared really great. For entrees we had the salmon and the sea bass. The salmon was much better prepared than the sea bass. The potatoes were the best thing in the sea bass dish. Finally, The desserts were really great! We had the chocolate cake and the pear crumble. All in all the service was wonderful and the staff always accommodating. We may go back to try other menu items in the future but it most likely won’t be our first choice.
Hip. Great food. Very fast, friendly service.
Foods came from factory?, nothing surprise.
Once I went to here for my dinner, I requested changing seats since that was too close to the gate and there was enough place to move, but the woman whom I asked showed unpleasant feeling. People working there looked arrogant.(Of course, I made a reservation, it wasn’t walking in.)
And they don’t even know how to set chopsticks.
For grande finale, dishes were broken in the middle of restaurant so I had to wait to move.
I love the fresh and young new vibe.
The food was delicious
The seating feels very intimate and private
The service was really on point
Will return !
Comfortable bistro feel.
Food is great; freshest ingredients. Small but varied menu. Perfect for quiet night out.
Service was unreal, and the quality of the food was great. Definitely coming back!
First time dinning after the renovation. Very different ambiance but the food still amazing. Upstairs was very quiet for a good conversation. The only improvement needed- more vegetarian dishes in the entree portion.
Food was really great! Service was great also. Downstairs is very noisy...upstairs maybe better.
Wow, he's done it again. Delicious! Can't wait to go back. Thank you!
First visit since the restaurant remake. Room very nice. Table downstairs so did not see the upstairs remake. I liked the room but noise level higher than the old room. My biggest disappointment was the menu. Escarole salad was very good but the crispy chicken was very mediocre. Since I don’t love fish my other options were lobster, beef or duck. Nothing else appealed. For dessert had a scoop of the three ice creams and they were good. Best dish from the old menu was the veal Milanese. Sadly that is gone. Overall a nice restaurant but the main courses just did not inspire. Maybe for springtime they will make some menu changes.
Everything was perfect! We wanted to try Jojo after it reopened and we were absolutely delighted. The food was outstanding. We were two couples and we sampled many of the appetizers. Each one was better than the next, although my personal favorite was the warm seafood salad. I had the beef tenderloin as my main and it was cooked perfectly and was extremely flavorful. The sauce on the side had a little kick which was a very nice touch. This is a fantastic restaurant on a quite block in midtown. Two thumbs up!!
Food was superb and service couldn’t have been better.
From start to finish, the dishes were perfectly incredible. Outstanding!
The service was a bit rushed given we were in the last seating and there were plenty of people in the restaurant.
Very charming and comfortable restaurant. The service was great with very attentive staff. Food was creative and delicious.
Excellent food and reasonably priced for the quality. A lot of service staff but took very long to take drink orders and even longer to bring.
This is a wonderful restaurant
Love the new decor. Great job and glad JoJo is open again. The food was also excellent.
The recently reopened and remodeled JoJo is really good. Excellent food and drinks and wine. Reasonably priced UES bistro.
Great food - very nice setting. The duck was spectacular!
I don’t normally leave reviews but this place was sorely needed in the midtown east/UES area. Great food, excellent value and very attentive service. Reasonably priced wine list to boot. Really an all around great dinner spot.
For apps: I recommend the kale broccoli and six minute egg salad. A very light salad with good balance. The peekytoe dumplings are okay - there is some citrus sweet in it which doesn’t quite go perfectly with the savory of the dumpling.
For entrees: get the tenderloin. Don’t think twice. It was perfectly cooked at medium rare and comes with a spicy orange sauce on the side. An excellent dish. If you’re into fish, the black sea bass was flavorful and well cooked.
Dessert: let me preface it with I really don’t like carrot cake. It usually has too much ginger or too much shredded carrots. This carrot cake was perfectly balanced.
First time here after the renovation. Food and service was excellent
Food and service was amazing. Front staff totally unaccommodating. Asked to be sat a corner table and was denied. No one sat there our entire meal. Asked front
Staff on the way out why he did not seat us there and his response was we had a cancellation. If they had a cancellation why then did they not move us? Or tell us on the way out. Complete careless attitude typical of Jean Georges front staff.
The food is so delicious yet light. I feel like I'm eating something really special without feeling like there is a pound of butter in it.
Fabulous loved it
Jojo is excellent. The newly renovated space is beautiful, clean and modern. The food is outstanding. Service is professional and warm. Highly recommended!
Everything at JoJo was spectacular. Great service, good wine selection, and food that was out of this world. We had a citrus salad, warm seafood salad, duck, salmon, and chicken dishes and all were made to perfection. Don't let the relatively few choices on the mains menu set you off- they are all good and very creative. New decor since renovations is lovely, and makes for a very relaxing and comfortable dining experience. Though we live across the park on the west side, we plan to return to JoJo as frequently as budget allows. Not cheap but certainly great value for money!!
The food and service were lovely, but our date night was tarnished by a very loud woman at the next table — 18 inches away. It was impossible not to have to hear her every word and made our own conversation challenging.
Great food. Device was “nouveau”. Needs some polish.
This was our first visit to the newly renovated JoJo. They did a fantastic job. It's completely redone, and is light and airy, slightly wider (it's in a town house). The food was excellent; I loved the duck on a bed of wild rice with a candied sweet potato. One friend had the beef, which she loved, and my husband had the lobster. The chicken was delicious, but chicken is just chicken!
Desserts were also spectacular. We'll be back and can't wait for them to open for lunch!
My wife and I came from Boston and ate here on Saturday night for the first time and it was perfect. The menu is simple but with great variety, the service is over the top and the ambiance could not be better in a newly renovated town house. Definitely has the feel of a neighborhood restaurant and not the typical tourist stop. We highly recommend JoJo.
It was our first time and we loved it! We will be back often!
