John's is a neighborhood restaurant in Lincoln Park that serves a regularly changing menu of seasonal dishes. We offer both a la carte and tasting menu options. Our Chef’s Tasting Menu will now be available seven nights a week—in the dining room or at our bar. This exquisite five-course menu is priced at $115 and will always feature dishes that aren’t on our a la carte board. We do ask that all members of your party order the same menu.
For walk-in guests, you can now also order the Chef’s Tasting Menu every night.
We've carefully curated our wine list to complement every occasion and dish on our menu, highlighting small producers alongside renowned vineyards.
Our bar is walk in only and great if you want to pop by for just cocktails and snacks but also always serves our full dinner menu.

Food (as always) was exceptional but service was spotty this visit. Waiting on silverware after courses served and waiting for wine recommendation after first courses arrived. The wine selection is great.

Food is very good but the portions are small and you will end up spending about $200 per couple even if you try to be cost concious. Maybe that is just life in Chicago but it seemed a bit high to us.

The experience was phenomenal. All of the staff members provided excellent service. The food was outstanding!!! Altogether I enjoyed every second of my visit and every bite of my dinner.

The vibe was great. Crowded but fun. We chose to sit at the bar though we had reservations. Our server/bartender was great. Engaging and knows his cocktails. Everyone near us was nice and seemed to be caught up in the vibe. Food was just outstanding!

Both the food and service were substandard. The gemelli pasta had an odd tasting sauce that we found distasteful. And, the branzino was filled with bones that left us picking bones out of our mouths throughout the meal. Additionally, the service was not coordinated. Our second course was brought soon after we started our first course. We sent it back, but then they forget to bring it, until we asked about. Overall, it was a disappointing dining experience. A mandatory 20% service charge when you really don't have a dedicated server, seems unjustified...especially when the food is not delivered in a timely manner. When we complained, the wine steward removed the service charge, but we found him to be a bit mechanical and unapologetic in his response. We would not return, as there are much more satisfying restaurant options in the area.

Everything we ordered was delicious - fresh and unique. The ordering concept was also refreshing and we enjoyed the uninterrupted opportunity to enjoy our food and company. Food came out a bit fast and our second glass of wine was apparently forgotten. The seating area at the rear of the restaurant felt sterile and incongruous with the rest of the experience.

Was not aware food needed to be ordered at the hostess counter in full. After a long hot day at work, it was deflating to not be seated right away with a glass of water at the time of my reservation. This ordering style should be more heavily advertised so guests can come better prepared. At the very least, would be considerate to offer guests a glass of water or NA beverage while they are perusing the menu.
