John's is a neighborhood restaurant in Lincoln Park that serves a regularly changing menu of seasonal dishes. We offer both a la carte and tasting menu options. Our Chef’s Tasting Menu will now be available seven nights a week—in the dining room or at our bar. This exquisite five-course menu is priced at $115 and will always feature dishes that aren’t on our a la carte board. We do ask that all members of your party order the same menu.
For walk-in guests, you can now also order the Chef’s Tasting Menu every night.
We've carefully curated our wine list to complement every occasion and dish on our menu, highlighting small producers alongside renowned vineyards.
Our bar is walk in only and great if you want to pop by for just cocktails and snacks but also always serves our full dinner menu.

The place is nice. The food was great, BUT it's still very expensive for what it is. The whole counter service idea -- when you have to order with the host before you get to your table -- is cumbersome and uncomfortable. They also had a prefix menu substitution and did not even bother to tell us. Also now, like many other restaurants in Chicago, they adopted this annoying 20% mandatory fee to cover the minimum wage for their wait staff. Why should the customers and not the owners be responsible for covering your staff minimum wage?

It was a great experience in particular the lobster salade and the Hokkaido scallop. They were our favorite meals.

All of our food was amazing. Our favorites were and octopus, steak and fries. Everthing was well timed. Can’t wait to come back!

The rear room ambiance is not as good as the front room. Noisy conversations instead of audible music, plus not as cute lighting make for a less enjoyable experience. However, the steak tartare and pork spaghetti dishes were excellent. On everyone’s recommendation we got the French fries, but we did not think they lived up to the hype. Were they good? Yes. Did they compliment the other dishes in our meal? No. We also had the hamachi crudo. It was good, but missing some vinegar/acid element. Plus, I thought the fish was cut a little thicker than I would have liked. I’ll definitely go back to John’s, but I may order differently next time!

Sat in back room. Much of our food came out super fast. One Entre` got lost in the shuffle and it took several of the wait staff to track it down. Timing was terrible. Entre’s were super average. Scallops were nothing special. Pretty disappointing.
