Staff was very nice. Food was really good! Vibe of the restaurant was nice too. Very good experience
Excellent as always we keep going
back because of the great food and service
Good menu, good prices, good location, highly recommend
Never disappoints. Great food, phenomenal service, and convenient location.
The restaurant is casual and comfortable. I don't usually order pasta, but the pasta dishes sounded good, and the three different ones we got were quite delicious: butternut squash, mushroom and spicy sausage. The truffle fries were generous and tasty. Overall nice atmosphere and good food.
The food and atmosphere were perfect! We could talk and hear each other, but the customers were happy, talkative, and generally great atmosphere in addition to the wonderful food!
Been dining here for years. This time server did not know how to use a wine bottle opener. Hamburger was overcooked. Everything else was okay.
Nice selection, delicious, great service and fun atmosphere.
The Short Rib Pappardelle came highly recommended and did not disappoint!
First time at Johnny’s and very much enjoyed our experience. Son is a student at UMass and was recommended by another parent. Service was excellent. Cocktail menu unique and thoroughly enjoyed the one chosen. Food was good and atmosphere enjoyable. Look forward to coming again during next visit to Amherst.
As always great food , service overall an enjoyable evening out.
Went here for our anniversary and staff were amazing. We got there late and they held our table and congratulated us based on our reservation details. Food was delicious, but definitely on the pricier side!
Our server was very kind and knowledgeable about the menu. The appetizers were delicious and kept us content until the entrees came out, which took a little longer than normal because the kitchen was short staffed (no complaints).
My Family and I had a GREAT Sunday lunch at Johnny's.
In fact, I may have had the BEST fried chicken sandwich. The chicken was REAL, not the processed patty that has become way too prevalent elsewhere.
My Daughter had the Tavern Burger, medium rare. I wish that I took a picture because this (not so) humble burger was worthy of being in a magazine.
My Wife ordered the Ham Melt. OMG! Another bullseye...shaved ham, melted cheese, grape jelly (I kid you not) on griddled swirl rye bread.
The ambience was better than expected and our service provider was charming.
I am looking forward to my return soon...truth be told, I am getting mighty hungry thinking about our Sunday lunch at Johnny's Tavern.
Great food and atmosphere. Our server, Isabella, was the kindest and most attentive server we’ve ever had. Will definitely return.
Amazing food, service and ambiance. We went on a very busy night as well. Bravo!
Bridget was our server this evening. She did a fabulous job! We are frequent visitors who basically have the same thing each time. Even though she hadn’t served us in a while, she remembered everything! As always, the food was yummy!
Very good stop in Amherst for lunch. Took our UMASS student for lunch here. The food and ambiance were wonderful and the menu has something for everyone. Next time we visit this lovely town COVID should be over. This was the first restaurant we actually ate inside. Very respectful of the rules.
Overall it was a very nice meal....
Visiting son at UMASS and Johnny’s does not disappoint Brussel sprouts appetizer amazing. Barramundi is always good
Johnny’s is always consistent. You cannot miss on any dish. Good crowd and good vibe in the restaurant.
My nephew and I enjoyed your restaurant so much last night. He is a vegetarian and simply loved the mushroom ricoti (?) I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was hot and delicious. We enjoyed the brussel sprouts and the truffle fries, but my favorite part of the evening was your French Onion soup. The beef base was so tasty, not SO salty that you find everywhere else. Thank you especially for that! Our waitress Carly was vety attentive and the food runners brought our food out piping hot!
The fresh pasta was terribly undercooked ! So disappointing
Bread was stale, but was cheerfully replaced.
Arugula salad was dressed with a very flavorful light vinaigrette that was quite delicious.
A special, the pan-seared trout with maitake and farro was fantastic.
The pan-seared branzino with seafood risotto was superb, with a crispy crust and moist, flavorful flesh. The scallops, shrimp, and mussels were perfectly cooked, and the risotto was silky and creamy.
Overall, a very memorable meal.
First time dining here on this visit from Texas. From the food to the service an excellent dining experience. The French onion soup and PEI mussels appetizers were amazing. The latter's portion is entrée sized and easily sharable for 2 persons. The fried salt & pepper calamari with garlic aioli sauce was different but good. The spaghetti Bolognese was superb and hearty. The Tavern burger was cooked to perfection and one of the best burgers I've had. Our server provided friendly and effective service. We plan on visiting Amherst again and we would definitely dine here again. Highly recommended
Outstanding ingredients and thoughtful but straight forward menus make Johnnys a way above average restaurant. Starting off with the pork belly appetizer through the rare tuna sandwich i had for lunch. Delicious.
Johnny's was a perfect lunch destination. The atmosphere was comfortable, the service friendly, and the food was real.
Absolutely fabulous atmosphere and staff!! My lower rating stems from the food taking a turn for the worse since early summer 2021. I dined there in June and was so tickled with the fare, I went back a second night during a 4 night visit. I’ve returned with a friend in October only to find the same menu and price, but with inferior produce, quality and techniques. The potstickers alone should have been my sign. Now they are deep fried dough balls around a small nugget of pork, barely topped with common greens, and a drizzle of the chili sauce. In June they were pan seared morsels of delight, topped with a stunning farm fresh and exotic variety of greens, all topping a dazzling heat from their chili dressing. I won’t return anytime soon.
We had a great time at Johnny's Tavern. One of our party is in a wheelchair and access was easy. The food was some of the best in the Happy Valley and the wine was excellent. We also got great service.
Johnny’s is our new favorite place in Amherst!
We celebrate a lot of our special days at Johnny's and are always happy with the food and service. Tonight was our 14th wedding anniversary and the service was prompt with a smile! Loved our server tonight and will definitely be going back to Johnnys!
Johnnys came highly recommended by employee Paul.
Visiting the area from Saratoga, New York we decided to give it a try.
It did not disappoint. Mussels were amazing and my salmon was cooked to
perfection. Companion enjoyed the truffle fries and delicious fish and chips!
Also kudos to the bartender...margueritas were perfect.
We will return!
Good meal, great bar. Fun people and great staff.
Good food, good service, and a very nice room. Recommended!
We love going to Johnny’s where the food is always excellent. There have been occasional missteps, but we understand the volatility of the labor market right now. However, tonight was disappointing. Our server, Isabella, started out ok, but after the first round of drinks and bread, it was downhill. We requested our salads with dressing on the side. When they arrived, there was no dressing and we had to request it. I ordered a glass of wine with dinner, which didn’t arrive until I was almost done and that was after asking about it after a fair amount of time had passed. She blamed a backup at the bar. People who ordered drinks after me got theirs, which told me she did not place the order when I first asked for it. When I called her out on it and sent it back, the manager came over to offer it to me, stating that it had been ordered, but the “bartender didn’t get the ticket,” which was contradictory to the narrative. This confirmed that the order had not been submitted. I understand that people make mistakes. All I ask is that the person who makes the mistake owns it. Being dishonest about it doesn’t sit well with me.
Had to wait a long time for entre but understand it could be staffing shortage. It was worth the wait.
Very good higher end fare in Amherst with a bit of a local emphasis.
I love this restaurant.
Food, value, service always excellent.
A little noisy but I always request a booth so that helps.
Good drinks and good food. Our server was wonderful as well. We love dining at Johnny’s.
Very delicious food and our waitress was lovely, one of my fav restaurants!
