Always an amazing time! Delicious food, fun and interesting cocktails, Great atmosphere and fabulous service!

Service was great. Our waiter offered his opinions on what to order which I always appreciate. He also helped me choose a cocktail off the extensive cocktail menu. It was fantastic! Super cool and different experience. Highly recommend.

Everything was spectacular! From the time we arrived and gained entry, to the delicious cocktails and food. Highly recommend to anyone looking to surprise or impress a date!

Sat at the bar after reading reviews about wait times. Even though we sat at the bar, wait time was still a bit long. Some of the bar seats should just be for drinks only as the real estate is rather limited.

Great ambience and drinks. Food was average. The tenderloin was more sirloin than tender. I would go back fro drinks only.

Excellent service and atmosphere the drinks and food were amazing. The bartender was wonderful and went over and above for our birthday celebration. Highly recommend visiting!

We were seated right away and our drink orders came quickly. There was a little bit of time between courses but nothing like other users said there was. The food was outstanding-and the drinks were great as well. We really enjoyed the live music which wasn’t super loud so we could still talk. The space is beautiful and the menu has som great offerings. We will definitely be back!

Food and drinks are AMAZING! My only criticism is the dining room is very dark. I had to pull my phone out to read the menu.

Other than the service we had a great experience. I think the waitress might have had too many tables but overall it was a great evening

Had a hard time hearing the waitress but that is my only complaint. The music, ambiance and drinks were so different but pleasing. It was just a really cool place.

The experience started poorly after being left outside for quite a while since you must ring the doorbell and be escorted to the dining area. We were eventually let into the building by a cook for the restaurant next door and told to wait in a stairwell for a few additional minutes. While not critical, it was not the best way to start the night. Overall, the restaurant was nice, live music was enjoyable, and the drinks were quality. Service was relatively slow as it took nearly 30 minutes to make drinks for both rounds ordered. I cannot attest to the food as we did not order any.

I would say it’s worth a shot to experience, but it is certainly not my first choice in the area.

While it was a little hard to get in- had to ring the bell 3 times and wait in the cold- the restaurant itself was lovely- great atmosphere and had a feeling of intimacy - food and service were great!

Johnnys is a cool hidden spot. They need to adjust their “secret code word” entrance. If others are waiting for the door to open, you don’t need a code word.
We were seated immediately, the drink menu is expansive and pricey. The drinks were good, but our server was no where to be found for moments at a time. We talked more with the chef, whom created an incredible menu with excellent food. There were only 2 servers in the entire place, they were understaffed which resulted in tables being less tended too.
We had the beef cheek pasta and lamb chops, all of which were phenomenal!

Cool place in RO, with festive libations and yummy small plates. The staff was very accommodating and courteous.

Nice restaurant for drinks and maybe apps but food is just so so.

They ran out of a dish we wanted but over compensated with a great dish.

Waitress was not familiar with the items on the menu, and could not hear us place our order, and it was so dark she could not read the menu either. Service was very slow, 40 minutes waiting between small plates (we ordered all 4), and food arrived cold. Never asked if we wanted a 2nd round of drinks. Saving grace, the chef is a class-act and was out monitoring the floor. I wish him good luck. I'm not in a rush to return, but if I ever do it will be because the duck tacos were delish, and for their great wine list.

The food was great from the appetizer to dessert and drinks!

Love this place!

The waiter was nice and he tried but service was extremely slow. It was so slow that we ended up leaving after waiting over an hour and a half for a filet and Lamb Chops. Will not return.

Best place

Such an awesome place! The speakeasy feel is so cool to slip in the back and be led through a fake freezer. Yes you might spend a couple hours here because the service is a little slower but I’m not sure why you’d want to rush out of this place anyways? The ambiance and feel is amazing. Dark room, old world feel perfect for a date night.

Great location, ambience, and food. Downgrade in rating was due to the service. Waitstaff friendly but when it takes 30 minutes to get drinks, appetizer order forgotten, another 60 minutes to get meals .. it's hard for the rest of the experience to offset those misses. It was a Friday night but less than a third of the tables were occupied. Much different experience than our last 5 star visit. Hoping they were just having an off night as we really like this place.

Johnny's is a great intimate dining/drinking/socializing experience. I always enjoy visiting. Johnny is usually present and is a fabulous host. Our server for the evening was below average. I had to go in search of her more than once because our glasses were empty. This was especially annoying because the speakeasy was not at all crowded.

The food was amazing and the restaurant itself was great but the service was horrible. I took my husband there with some friends for his birthday and we all got one round of drinks. Not because we didn’t want to order more. We were never asked again. Our water wasn’t refilled till the very end. It took 45 mins for the server to take our order. I relayed that it was my husbands birthday But noting was offered. It took another 45 mins to get the bill. Which was wrong but we just paid for it because we knew we’d be waiting another 45 mins to get it corrected. It was a shame. This place has so much going for it if they could just figure out the service. Maybe they just need to focus on drinks and cut the food out completely if they’re not going to have enough servers. The chef offered us some creme brûlée on the house.
I believe he knew what was going on but we would’ve spent a lot more money if only we had gotten service.

Great food but it we waited a very long time for it. People next to us got there food before us and we’re seated we’ll after us. We had to leave for show so we didn’t even get to eat all we ordered. We sat at 7:30 and needed to leave by 9:15 and still didn’t have our full order. Other than that, great drinks and what we did eat was delicious.

Had a fun time. The food & drinks were great. We will definitely be back!

Johnny's is a go to place for my wife and I. We love the atmosphere, the cocktails and the food is outstanding. Service was a bit slow on the last trip but as always Johnny was very welcoming and the food and drink was as expected, great!

Great food and a fun experience!

I've lived in Royal Oak for over 4 years and this was the best first visit I've had to any restaurant downtown. The ambiance is phenomenal and the cocktails are very well done. I can only vouch for the Lobster "Pap & Cheese" and the salmon, but both meals were excellent. The crème brûlée is an absolute must-have for dessert. I will certainly be coming back.

Delicious food, accommodating staff, great ambiance.

This place is so cool to visit! Would be better if GF items could be available for food or at least labeled on the menu as some staff isn’t fully aware. Takes awhile to get service as well. However this place is super fun to visit and I recommend it a hundred percent!
