Probably the best steak in The Woodlands and some very good Italian food as well. Quiet, awesome service, good wine list and excellent value.
I used to love going to this restaurant and would have given it a five star rating. Their menu used to consist of dishes with a European flair. Their pear, brie, and turkey sandwich with aioli was fantastic, along with tuna on flatbread. I used to enjoy their tomato soup/bisque also. Unfortunately the menu has been dumbed down. I'm not spending $22 for lobster macaroni and cheese. The last time I had their tomato soup, it was watery and tasted like it came out of a can. I suppose the restaurant has decided to appeal to the unsophisticated masses since it's in a hotel and trying to cut costs.
Service kind and appropriate, place is comfortable . Food standard for a hotel based restaurant.
Great time for our anniversary! Food was great, staff was very attentive but not hovering. They set us up for a private room. Will go back!!!
The service was very slow and our order was incorrect plus over cooked. Very disappointing.
From beginning to end our dining experience was excellent. From service to food- welcoming, attentive, warm and great taste. We will definitely return.
We went to Johnny's for a friends birthday dinner. The food and service was very good. I would defiantly go back. We sat about 3 tables from the bar and the noise level was somewhat loud, but other than the noise from the bar we had a very nice time.
The place is unexpected when you see the location. The service was great and the food was amazing. We had scallops with bacon jam and Brussels sprouts, and stuffed mushrooms as appetizers and they were delicious. I had Chanel #5 ravioli pasta and it was creamy, but not heavy with artichokes and fresh shellfish. My husband had a Parmesan crusted steak. I would definitely go back again. The only downside is that the restaurant feels a little enclosed, like a cave. But what a great surprise to find a great restaurant in the Holdiay Inn Inn shenandoah!
Ok, don’t freak out. The restaurant is inside the Holiday Inn. I know, I know. The food was excellent and very high end. The steaks were better than Morton’s or Double Eagle, and almost approaches Ruth Chris (sorry nobody beats them and I know that I am biased). The wine was delightful, with so many tasteful and full body choices. The restaurant is small and the dining area is very close to the bar (hence the noise level) but the food makes you forget about that. Excellent service. We are going back to experience more of this menu.
What a hidden little gem!
Even the hotel is beautifully decorated!
The food was very good!
The service was very good!
Very nice decor-great concept!
Definitely go eat there-you’ll love it!
We will return!
Thanks everyone for a great experience!!
Great food and great service...will be back! Celebrating my wife and sons birthdays.
Service was OK because they were having a reunion in the bar area. food was good but slow to get there. May go back, may not.
Good food - nice place - service was a little slow
Heard about this Steakhouse from friends...What a great find, food was outstanding and well priced. This is one I will be coming back too quite often.
Impeccable food and service!
The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly. Great service.
The service was good and staff friendly. Since, it was our anniversary, I ordered 2 glasses of sparkling wine on line when I made my reservations to be delivered as soon as we were seated. But, that did not happen. I told the waiter, but I had to order it again at the restaurant.
It was quiet and relaxing. I ordered my prime rib medium and it was more well done. No pink at all.
Over all it was an enjoyable evening.
We went for mother’s day brunch. For $50/person the food was not spectacular, but they did have a large variety of options. The atmosphere was less than appealing and we were not in the dining room. They had a large conference room with round top tables. I would not have booked here had I known this. Not personal at all and quite loud.
Mother’s Day brunch: breakfast food was bland but lunch food was awesome. Service was very good. Pretty good value for $50pp
Food was ok. Took a long time to get salad before the meal. Meal wasn’t anything spectacular.
The food was great as well as the service
Nice place however the bartender was rude, it seemed she’d rather catch up and chat with other employees. The atmosphere was nice and the food was good except for both steaks being over cooked. For a medium filet, no pink whatsoever. The flavor was good just over cooked.
Little slow get what you pay for on the food
Easter brunch. Food was excellent. Some of the best prime rib I have ever had. Everything was excellent. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
Easter Brunch Buffet was mmm, mmm, great! I could cut the prime rib with my fork!
It may be good for a regular meal, but we were here for Easter brunch and it wasn’t good. Food was meh and we were seated in one of the conference rooms at the Holiday Inn (the restaurant is located inside.) Felt like a bad wedding reception, wish they had seated in the restaurant or at least noted this as we reserved—never again.
Was referred by friends was a little apprehensive with the restaurant inside a Holiday Inn however pleasantly surprised. The restaurant was beautiful decor, lighting. Full bar, private tables or booths. Diverse menu, salads, appetizers, pasta, seafood and steaks. All was great tasting, service good.
Great food, drinks, and service at a great price! Highly recommend them for any occasion!
Waited almost five minutes for a hostess to come upfront to seat us. Server was very nice and knowledgeable. Steak was over cooked. Appetizers and entrees arrived promptly. Had to ask for drink refill.
We came to Johnny’s for a special date night. Overall service was great after one disgruntled table was handled and Dakotah was available to serve us. The calamari was excellent, better than we’ve had in a long time. Prime rib was flavorful, not as good as we had expected: served lukewarm and was dry, not juicy as we expected from Angus beef. Wine selection was fair and our Summer Cabernet was really good!
Our evening was wonderful. Our steaks were cooked exactly like we requested. My wife had the shrimp ravioli that was also delicious and one of our friends had the chicken that was perfect.
The service was some of the best I ever had and the manager came by a few times to make sure everything was to our satisfaction.
My wife and I dined there for a belated Valentine's day dinner. The food and the service were very good. The manager went from table to table introducing himself. The happy hour appetizers and the drinks were very good. I would definitely recommend.
Found this place on Yelp while I was in town visiting friends. I was nervous when I pulled up, it is in a Holiday Inn, but that was not necessary. We were given a nice table in a closed off area, perfect for catching up with friends. Our server was great and very attentive. The food was fantastic and worth every penny. We had the salmon, filet mignon, prime rib, seafood ravioli pasta and a shrimp dish. We also had every dessert except the cheesecake and sausage stuffed mushrooms. There was not one complaint and everyone left very pleased! The manager stopped by our table during the meal to ensure our satisfaction as well. I would definitely do back if I get back to Houston!
1/. Did not fill our Special Open Table request
2/. Poor steak quality
3/. Good service
Valentine’s Day dinner. Delay in seating, they blamed Open Table for double booking. Long wait for drinks at the bar. Lasagna was below average. Green peppers inside was an unpleasant surprise. Sauce was subpar. Appetizers were good, toasted ravioli. Salad with iceberg lettuce, really?
They we're not prepared for our reservation and were two deep in the bar while the owner just hung out drinking.
The Manager was great, as was the waiter. My mom had an issue with her food and they took care of it immediately. Things can always go weong but the manager took care of it with empathy and class. We will return.
Good steak. Lobster tail was bad! Very dry. Couldn’t get it out of shell
The food was good but the service was not. There was only one waitress for the restaurant and a bartender. It took a long time for the waitress to bring the food and the drinks where refilled only one time.
I had been to Johnny's about a year ago with friends. At that time the service and food was excellent. I did not have that same impression this time though. We made a reservation for 6:30 and were seated immediately. We waited several minutes for someone to take our drink order. It took 23 minutes from the time we sat down until our drinks arrived. My martini came first and my wife had to wait several more minutes to get her Italian margarita. The food, when it arrived was not as hot as it should be. We both had baked potatoes (loaded) and they were almost cold. By the time you added condiments like sour cream, it was really not hot at all. The server was quite cordial and prepared our leftovers to take home and even included a fresh loaf of bread with dipping oil and parmesan cheese. The taste and portion sizes of the food were quite good though.
Not sure I'll be back soon. Will monitor reviews to see if things improve.
