Johnny's Italian Steakhouse - The Woodlands
The ambiance at Johnny’s is reminiscent of the classic supper clubs of the ‘40s and ‘50s, creatively blending the sophistication of the past with a modern edge. Our guests can enjoy music by Frank Sinatra, Diana Krall or Michael Buble. Johnny's Blue Bar™ provides guests with a lively lounge atmosphere where cell phones take a backseat to conversation.
At Johnny’s, our steaks take center stage, and are complemented by a gourmet assortment of Italian cuisine and seafood. With new-fashioned luxuries and old-fashioned service and hospitality, Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse brings the Rat Pack era to the 21st Century.
This restaurant is tucked inside the Holiday Inn behind Party City in Shenandoah/Oak Ridge. The Italian Beef was delicious and plentiful. The potato soup was packed with potatoes and flavor and had real bacon bits and shredded cheese on the side. The soup could be a meal in itself. Betty, the waitress was very good and attentive. My friend had the steak salad which was cooked to perfection and quite tasty. I will definitely return.
The restaurant is located within the Holiday Inn. It was overall a very good experience - service on point, wide variety of dining options, and quality of preparation was good.
A group celebrating birthdays. Those who ordered the salmon reported it was very dry and over cooked. Everybody else was happy. Service was outstanding (Clark?).
As ALWAYS, Johnny's never disappoints. We went for NYE and it was a little bit of a wait for food, but that was to be expected on a holiday. This restaurant is truly a gem in the area and I love that it's a little ways away from the hustle & bustle of the actual "Woodlands" area. The food is ALWAYS amazing and the friendly staff is even better!
We have been to Johnny's several times so we scheduled an early New Years Eve dinner. I have to say that the usually excellent service and food kind of disappointed the 4 of us. Two of our table were served the wrong meals with cold food and undercooked potatoes. The meals were replace and then the arrived they were excellent as always, but the usually attentive staff was pretty much absent. Johnny's has very good food, a decent wine selection and limited but creative preparations. I'd still recommend going a little out of the way to go there.
Third time there - first time excellent service and food - second time food not as good or service - last time chicken parm to thickly breaded and marinara sauce not as good. Service not that good - something has happened in the kitchen from the first time - I don’t think there is enough wait staff . raved to friends Then we were all disappointed
We have very mixed feelings about this restaurant. The appetizer was awesome! We both enjoyed it. My husband’s steak was moist and flavorful and cooked perfectly medium rare. My medium rare steak was cooked medium well. It was awful. So we sent that steak back and the next steak was medium rare but so dry I couldn’t eat it. I was so embarrassed that I didn’t like the second steak either. I didn’t send it back but didn’t eat it so I think the waitress knew I didn’t like it. They were very sweet and comped the steak and the dessert, which is why they weren’t given only 1 star. We’re not sure we’ll come back. We had been to the Johnny’s Italian Steakhouse in Illinois. This was no where near as good.
I would have never gone here since it's in a Holiday Inn, but was convinced to go... so happy we found this nice little hidden gem. Food was up to our picky standards and we've been back 4 x's since finding it.
Loved our experience. The staff made us feel very loved on our anniversary. Great menu and bar selection. Everything was so delicious.
Excellent service and great food! We'll be back for more soon.
The food and service were excellent, we will be back for sure!!!! The Banana cheesecake was to die for!
My party was initially suspicious of the restaurant given its location inside of a Holiday Inn. However, by the end of the meal we were all pleasantly surprised by the experience. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was intimate, and the wait staff was attentive to our needs while maintaining a high level of professionalism that would be at home in any fine dining establishment. Our entire party agreed that we will dine here again.
Food and service never disappoint - both are consistently great! My only recommendation would be a little more plate styling - presentation is too basic but the food is delicious!
Ordered ribeye and tenderloin medallions, both were cooked as ordered and very good. Service was outstanding and excellent wine recommendations were made.
On the whole, average. Very busy on a Saturday night, poor waitress seemed to have half the place to herself but was quite cheery nonetheless. Food was mediocre - pork chops almost too dry to eat, Drunken Steak had not the slightest hint of a beer base and had a couple good chunks of grisle, although it was cooked medium-rare exactly as requested and the garlic sauce was good. Lobster mac & cheese was nothing to write home about. Overall the dishes were not worth the prices - many other better dinner options nearby.
We are always impressed with the food at Johnny’s. We have eaten here many times. That being said, we have often left the restaurant thinking that for all the wonderful food they present, their waitstaff leaves a lot to be desired. Don’t get me wrong, the waitstaff have always been totally polite and have worked hard to please us. But, it appears to me that they maintain a bare minimum number of servers. Those who have waited on us, both this occasion and several before this, have all been horribly overextended. We were at a four top table, and out waitress was taking care of us along with three other four tops as well as a table of nine. Too much happening for one person to manage.
This was our first time eating at Johnny's and everything about our dinner was exceptionally good. We will definitely be returning in the very near future.
The ham and the turkey were delicious. The mashed potatoes were lumpy and stuck together. The green bean casserole had green beans that weren't cooked and most importantly of all there was no stuffing. What is Thanksgiving dinner without stuffing? The wait staff was excellent.
They couldn’t get the steak right and told us we were wrong .
This was a Major disappointment on this visit...The food used to be much better in taste and presentation...The server Clark did wonderful job with what management had given him to work with... The kicker was that Johnny's was TOTALLY OUT OF WINE...REALLY a restaurant totally out of wine. THE WHOLE WINE MENU??? This was a surprise and just doesn't seem right... either they are under capitalized or maybe going out of business. Not sure but the manager said that his distributor did not deliver to them that day and he would be out of wine all weekend. This was Friday Night? I'm sure there is an alternative way to pick up some wine to get them bye... Again it just doesn't add up. On our other visits this eatery was quite good and great value... With so many restaurants in The Woodlands area, there are many other options...I wish them the best , but I wouldn't waste a trip to Johnny's till the get their act together!
Had a wonderful dinner. Appreciated quiet environment. Super for conversation. Food and service outstanding.
Nice place getting very busy more business...main manager pushy embarrassed the server...but overall harmless.
Probably the best steak in The Woodlands and some very good Italian food as well. Quiet, awesome service, good wine list and excellent value.
I used to love going to this restaurant and would have given it a five star rating. Their menu used to consist of dishes with a European flair. Their pear, brie, and turkey sandwich with aioli was fantastic, along with tuna on flatbread. I used to enjoy their tomato soup/bisque also. Unfortunately the menu has been dumbed down. I'm not spending $22 for lobster macaroni and cheese. The last time I had their tomato soup, it was watery and tasted like it came out of a can. I suppose the restaurant has decided to appeal to the unsophisticated masses since it's in a hotel and trying to cut costs.
Service kind and appropriate, place is comfortable . Food standard for a hotel based restaurant.
Great time for our anniversary! Food was great, staff was very attentive but not hovering. They set us up for a private room. Will go back!!!
The service was very slow and our order was incorrect plus over cooked. Very disappointing.
From beginning to end our dining experience was excellent. From service to food- welcoming, attentive, warm and great taste. We will definitely return.
We went to Johnny's for a friends birthday dinner. The food and service was very good. I would defiantly go back. We sat about 3 tables from the bar and the noise level was somewhat loud, but other than the noise from the bar we had a very nice time.
The place is unexpected when you see the location. The service was great and the food was amazing. We had scallops with bacon jam and Brussels sprouts, and stuffed mushrooms as appetizers and they were delicious. I had Chanel #5 ravioli pasta and it was creamy, but not heavy with artichokes and fresh shellfish. My husband had a Parmesan crusted steak. I would definitely go back again. The only downside is that the restaurant feels a little enclosed, like a cave. But what a great surprise to find a great restaurant in the Holdiay Inn Inn shenandoah!
Ok, don’t freak out. The restaurant is inside the Holiday Inn. I know, I know. The food was excellent and very high end. The steaks were better than Morton’s or Double Eagle, and almost approaches Ruth Chris (sorry nobody beats them and I know that I am biased). The wine was delightful, with so many tasteful and full body choices. The restaurant is small and the dining area is very close to the bar (hence the noise level) but the food makes you forget about that. Excellent service. We are going back to experience more of this menu.
What a hidden little gem!
Even the hotel is beautifully decorated!
The food was very good!
The service was very good!
Very nice decor-great concept!
Definitely go eat there-you’ll love it!
We will return!
Thanks everyone for a great experience!!
Great food and great service...will be back! Celebrating my wife and sons birthdays.
Service was OK because they were having a reunion in the bar area. food was good but slow to get there. May go back, may not.
Good food - nice place - service was a little slow
Heard about this Steakhouse from friends...What a great find, food was outstanding and well priced. This is one I will be coming back too quite often.
Impeccable food and service!
The steaks were delicious and cooked perfectly. Great service.
The service was good and staff friendly. Since, it was our anniversary, I ordered 2 glasses of sparkling wine on line when I made my reservations to be delivered as soon as we were seated. But, that did not happen. I told the waiter, but I had to order it again at the restaurant.
It was quiet and relaxing. I ordered my prime rib medium and it was more well done. No pink at all.
Over all it was an enjoyable evening.
