My linguini and clams was great, but my guest had a tenderloin that was pretty chewy. Not what we expected. We should have sent it back.

Me and my fiancé were celebrating our anniversary and couldn’t have picked a better place to go. It was our first time there and the service was amazing and food was delicious as well. We even had our own little private area so it felt more secluded and special. As if it were just the two of us in the whole place. Definitely will be returning again soon.

Great service began with the bartender and continued throughout seating and serving staff. Food was excellent as expected as we have frequented multiple Johnny’s locations over the years.

Food was generally quite good but the crab-stuffed snapper was over cooked to the point of parody - the outer edge was tough as shoe leather. Martinis were amazing, as was the stuffed mushroom appetizer. Service was oddly slow; seemed like everyone around us, who were seated later, got drinks, appetizers, meals and were out the door before our meals arrived. Overall, a pleasant dining experience as long as you have time to kill (and skip the stuffed snapper).

We had an early reservation the day after Valentine’s Day because we had an event to go to afterwards and so there was nobody in the restaurant at that time and out of all the beautiful areas and tables that they could’ve sat us at, they sat us right next to the kitchen which was loud and not very romantic. That was a little disappointing.
They had a specialty tropical martini for Valentine’s Day and it was absolutely delicious! I ordered the Steak DeBurgo. Absolutely loved the sauce but there were only two tiny medallions on the plate and for a filet mignon.... they were very chewy. That’s not normal. Felt disappointed in that. I had also had the Johnny’s Minnelli garlic Alfredo noodles in the past and they came usually as fettuccine noodles but they did a corkscrew pasta which tasted different than I’m used to. Other than that the atmosphere was beautiful in general and our waitress was wonderful. Just feel that they could buy a higher quality meat for the medallions for the price you pay.
we went there for lunch. We had never gone there and heard that the food was good. There was no one at the reception area. We waited for over 5 mins. Finally we just walked into the bar area where there was no one and eventually a person saw us and seated us. The restaurant was nearly empty. I think there was only one table with people eating when we arrived. The person taking our order was not very friendly. We just wanted a casual lunch in the bar area and she seemed like this was an inconvenience to her. We waited and waited for her to come back and take our order. My wife ordered soup and wanted soup served with her sandwich. Only after a long wait for our food and only when her sandwich arrived at the table was she informed that they were out of the tomato bisque soup. Cmon, out of their most popular soup on a Saturday afternoon? Hope someone was going to make more for the evening dinner patrons. So my wife asked for French Onion. We were both done eating our sandwiches when the soup finally arrived. Then trying to get our bill took another long time. I would not go back again if the server we had is working. Terrible experience.

I usually don't do reviews, but I figured it was about time I said something. My wife and I have visited Johnny's a number of times. It is always a hit or miss. Our last visit was on Valentines Day. I ordered the bone in Ribeye and my wife ordered the Oscar Filet. Her vegetables were cold and her steak was just mildly warm. My ribeye was very disappointing, not tender and it was served cold. You might say a little warm but that would be an overstatement. I asked to heat it up and I believe they must have microwaved it because the plate was so hot I couldn't touch it and my garlic mashed potatoes were steaming. I have to say I was really disappointed because the last ribeye I had was really good. What I am even more concerned about is listening to others around us complain. Both times we visited people were complaining. Food should be delivered immediately. Not sure where the disconnect is but I hope they figure it out. I am reluctant to go to this restaurant again given the past two experiences. Bummer because we live in Sun Prairie and it is close to our house.

Wonderful Steak House!!! The service was spectacular, the food was prompt and delicious. The drinks were made with care and were delicious.
They waited at the table to make sure our steaks were cooked to our satisfaction and they were.
We were celebrating a special occasion and they made it special.

Went on a Thursday night. Not too busy. Our server was Austin and he was great. Very nice and service was fast. He checked on us but wasn’t overbearing. Steak was cooked very good as was the shrimp.

Would recommend, but maybe not on a weeknight. Service was very good, but the food was just okay. Nothing to write home about. My risotto was underdone and rubbery, but I have had it before, and it was spectacular. My boyfriends steak was not quite medium like he wanted and had a little too much fatty parts that were not crisped up like they should have been. But we have had really good meals on weekends there.

We had a reservation, but had to wait 15 minutes in the bar to start, no big deal. We order a filet and sirloin, and after an hour the server lets us know it'll be up shortly, though we did get our salads in that hour at least. The worst part was we ordered the filet medium rare and sirloin medium, but they showed up rare and well done, respectively. We asked them to refire the steaks and the filet came out as cold as before, but they got the sirloin right at least. Third try they got the filet right. I expect a cook that knows how to grill a steak when I go to a steakhouse, but that wasn't the case. They did give us free desserts, but I didn't really want a dessert in the first place. We also needed drinks a couple times but the server wasn't around much. The place looks nice, they had a pianist playing a keyboard which was nice, but ended shortly after we sat down. Disappointing choice of places to go, I've had better dinners at Outback for comparison. I won't be going back here.
Overall very good experience. Servers and waitstaff were very friendly, food was very good, atmosphere was enjoyable and for what we received the price was reasonable.

We have been to Johnny's in Middleton, Quad Cities and also the Sun Prairie location the 1st weekend they opened. We thought we would try the SP one again since it had been almost 1 1/2 years and hoped the service would be better. Needless to say we will NOT be back. We dine out a lot and are willing to pay higher amounts if the food and service are both great- this was not. The bar atmosphere is nice- but service was very slow. We were seated at the booth closest to the kitchen even though lots of other tables were available. Waitress was friendly- but service level and speed were horrible. Ordered the clams/mussels appetizer- young man that brought it out- just threw it on the table, said nothing and gave us 1 plate. Took forever to even place our dinner order . We observed MANY tables taking forever to even place their orders. Clams were good- mussels were garbage and even though the shells were open- they were stuck to the inside and really didn't come out- total waste of money. Bread and salad were both good. My entrée was the Seafood Pasta Pomodoro- which was very good except for the mussels in it since again couldn't get out of the shell--- either cooked wrong or just cheap mussels. Husband had the Ribeye- ordered medium rare. For sure more on the raw side in areas- no way I could have eaten it. The garlic mashed potatoes actually were super dense and tasted like thick paste with no garlic flavor. He paid to add on mushrooms and onions-- simply horrible. They must have sat under a heat lamp for a LONG time- any sauce was dried up and the stems of the mushrooms were all dried up. He really only had a few. I tried his food and fully agreed. Waitress was slow to check on us or bring our bill. Again noticed the service portion at all tables around us. We will NEVER be back after giving this place 2 tries and will NOT recommend it to anyone. We dine out a lot and there are way more places worthy of visiting, better food , better service & MUCH cheaper
Food was cold and sent back. This is the second time we've dined here and wont be back. Both times food was just OK. We've been to many other Johnny's Italian Steakhouses and this is the only one we've had a bad experience at.

We have been here a number of times. On our past two visits, the food was excellent as always. The service continues to need improvement. On our recent visit we were seated in the bar on a weekday night, in spite of having reservations many days in advance. We waited a good 10-15 minutes before a server came to bring water or take our drink order. During dinner I asked a different server (busboy?) for a water refill, since mine had never been refilled. Never returned! The cocktails were perfect, the server friendly, polite, and answered our questions; just not as attentive as we would’ve liked, especially since we were entertaining out of state guests. We will likely return at least once more.

I'll start with the steak, a ribeye. It was very good, cooked to order, lovely marbling, generous portion. The calamari appetizer was also very good. But the chicken picata was only so-so, and the portion was stingy. But the real stinker was the linguine basillico my wife ordered, which was supposed to have garlic and basil, neither of which was evident. It tasted like tomato paste. The salmon she ordered to top it was mediocre. She mentioned it to the waiter -- who was good -- and a manager showed up at the table, listened, nodded, then did nothing to compensate. Also, and this is a small matter, the online reservation process asked if the dinner was for a special occasion; it was, my daughter's birthday. There was no acknowledgement of that. In my opinion, if you spend $150 on a meal for three people, three people should leave the restaurant feeling like the money was well spent. That wasn't the case.
We were celebrating our 51st anniversary. The food did not disappoint although my husband asked for shrimp in his pasta and there wasn’t any. He said it was still very good. The service was a little slow the night we were there.

Food is a bit expensive, but well worth it. We were skeptical after reading some reviews but we were very happy with both food and service.

both of us had cold mashed potatoes we never got any bread and her prime rib was as tough as they come I'd rather eat at Eagle Crest much better food
Steak was once again delicious. Our waitress, Diane, was wonderful. I was a bit disappointed with the bar service. It felt like we were not given the attention unless we flagged down the bartenders. Overall food was great!! Will absolutely return.

We have eaten at Johnny's several times, and it has become our go-to place to take friends and family for special occasions, or just to have an excellent dining experience. The atmosphere is rather old world and the menu is dynamic and exciting. The drinks are very well made and tasty, and the desserts are to die for.

We were going to have a drink afterwards and we waiting forever for bartender made drinks for tables only to have him look at us waiting and walk away. Very disappointing.
