Disappointed. Food was mediocre. Staff seemed inexperienced.
I treated my parents here for their wedding anniversary. When they got home they said it wasn’t the best of anything from the food to the ambiance. My Mother stated that her shrimp was cooked a little too hard to be stuffed and my Father said he has had much better steak. They also stated that it seemed to be a lot of children present for a restaurant that was suppose to be so classy. Plus, they would’ve appreciated being seated closer to each other being that it was just the 2 of them. And they were seated in a gigantic booth that may have seated 6 or more people. So, needless to say I won't be suggesting this place to anyone anytime soon. And I should have listened to my friend when she told me “they are just ok”.
Went here for Valentine’s Day. Being that they had open availability, later found out why. Why 20 minutes for a server eventually the host came out and took our drink orders. Still no server, then the manager took over and we were like ok this should be good now. We were wrong yet again. Took forever to get our bread, we got our appetizer which was the best part. We sent our meals back twice due to them being cooked incorrectly. Asked for steak medium first time well done. Second time way under done. Staff and managers are running this place very poorly. We were here for 2.5 hours and actually never ate food. And the two tables around us when we sat down had the same issue. One table even gave us the remaining balance if there 100 dollar gift card to pay our bill. Which we didn’t get to use. We handed it to another couple dealing with the same situation. Unfortunately Valentines dinner was ruined and we will never be back!
Had a reservation and waited 20 minutes to be seated.
Didn’t take a drink or appetizer order for another 10 minutes.
The drink I ordered tasted awful so I took it it up to the bar and asked for something different because our waitress never came back.
Dinner took at least 30-40 minutes to come.
It was just over all disappointing.
I made a reservation for my wife and I for Valentines Day. We had never been here before so I thought we would try something new. The staff didn’t seem prepared for us or any other guests when we arrived for our 5:30 reservation. Although we only waited a short time, the food took quite some time to make it out to us and we rarely seen our waiter. Overall the food was good, reasonably priced, and it was not a bad experience, but we probably won’t be going back as there are too many other places that we felt were much better.
Our first time there. The place was modern, subdued walls, simple monochrome paintings, large windows, very soft music, and uncrowded, space. Extremely private feeling. Waitress, was genuinely friendly, informed, and kept checking on us (along with a hostess, busboy, and a manager). We felt. like both family and VIPs. I've become less into steak, but my N.Y. Strip, was so tasty, not salty, and chewable. The side pasta, was heavenly (white parm cheese sauce), my wife's petite filet, garlic mashed, and our asparagus, were all great. The bread was also, warm, soft, and had a homemade flavor. The deserts (small chocolate fudge cake with ice-cream and my wife's cream-brule') were quite good. We usually go, to regular restaurants, (with total dining times, under an hour). That hour, is our usual time-attention span limit. This meal, took about 2 1/2 hours, but was a forced relaxation break (which probably became a new experience). One thing (upon reflection); we intend to return and consider Johnny's, our deluxe 'gastronomical and emotional spa').
We had a party of six for a birthday celebration. The sampler platter app was good. Salads were good. The chicken parmigiana and veal parmigiana were not very good. The broccolini has a terrible after taste and was cold as were the mashed potatoes. We won’t be back.
Party of 7, we all enjoyed our food. Staff was very friendly. A good time and value.
Jenny/Jena, (sorry it's been a few days) She was the best! Our group thought she was very welcoming and attentive.
Very nice it was my husband 's birthday and he loved it
Our waiter Moe was very congenial and friendly, made great food recommendations , and spent quality time talking with us. We've already recommended the restaurant to several friends and we'll be back!
Johnny's Italian Steakhouse is a quiet gem in Farmington Hills. Not pretentious, but unassumingly quality and value. I have taken several clients there, and have not been disappointed.
Overall the experience was good. Food was okay, have had better steak elsewhere. Our server, Danielle, was fantastic!
Our server was nice but quite distracted.
The food was excellent!
The steak was not cooked to order. Well done. Had to be sent back. Everything else was very good.
Food absolutely amazing! Will recommend to everyone.
Will return very soon.
Wonderful Lunch, all parties enjoyed every aspect and will return.
Service has been impeccable each time we have been to Johnny’s. Food is delicious and atmosphere is appealing and classy.
The Mangent Staff seem to work as a team with their staff. I thought the service would just be average since I had a coupon. But the service was excellent. It was my fourth time there and my husbands first time.
My wife & I pick a new restaurant we’ve never been to for New Years Eve dinner & this year it was Johnny’s Italian Steak House. It was a very good choice & we will be returning for a meal in the future. Good food, quiet ambience, and casual.
We dined on. Christmas Eve . The service was top notch. We had the sampler appetizer and it was delicious. The bread and salads were great starters. Everyone enjoyed their entrees which varied from steak, pasta and red snapper. We will definitely go back. It is a perfect place of a date, family gathering or even business meeting.
Business luncheon, food was phenomenal and restaurant is beautiful and a hidden gem in Farmington Hills, MI. Service was ok, everything came out correctly and in a timely manner. We just didn't get any information about specials or recommendations being that it was all of our first time being there. Location is hidden its connected onto the Holiday Inn Express. But, the restaurant's decor and ambiance is amazing and the food was delicious. I will definitely go back again!
We had a party of 6. Only one person said their food was good. The other 5 said the food was "OK". My chicken carbonara was very salty and overpowered the taste of the rest of the ingredients. One of my co-workers got the steak and they said it was a little tough but had good flavor. For the price it was not a good value.
Well, I'm am glad I'm with great company, because the food wasn't. Calamari is salty. The Lobster Mac & Cheese would have been better if it were Kraft. My Tiramisu was frozen. My wife is still waiting for her lemon for her water. The best thing was the bread, however did not receive a bread knife. Everyone had to cut their bread with their own knife. Plus, we could not get more bread even though we asked.
Bad experience! for our annual Christmas dinner.
Enjoyed the experience overall
We waited 25 minutes for anyone to come to our table. The restaurant wasn't busy at all about 5 other tables had people at them. We flagged down a waitress and she helped us right away and let a manager know. When i received my drink Kahula and Cream the cream was bad it was all curled on top. When we received our food most of the food was cold. We had movie tickets so just ate it. We didn't have time to get dessert we knew by the time she brought it to us and the bill it would be to late. A manager never came over to see us either. We would never recommend this place.
Appetizer was wrong. Had to do over. Steak was cooked 2 levels more than ordered. Should have sent back but we were under a time crunch. Should NOT have had to pay $30 for a meal not ordered!
The restaurant was cold, the food was just fair. It did not meet my expectations for this the type of restaurant. The steak in the salad was over-cooked. Also there were not very many people in the restaurant...
Amazing service!!!! Our waiter was amazing ! The sou chef came out and talked to us as well. It was my mother birthday and we had to leave another restaurant because of terrible service and thankfully I found this gem and we were treated so amazing! The Parmesan crusted New York strip is amazing ! Thank you for a great meal and experience !
good salad and bread...meat portions were very small
Great menu. We were very happy with our choices but want to return to try other entrees from their menu.
The service was at a snail's pace..took 15 minutes and a reminder to the hostess to get a waitperson to our table, and the pace of the meal was even slower, which suggests a lack of action in the kitchen. Also the proportions were very small...$20 for a chicken breast the size you would find on a McDonalds sandwich. Their steak portions were also very small for the price. It's difficult to consider this restaurant Italian or a Steakhouse.
Very good food was our third time there. Took a bit of time to get our waitress over to get our drink order but we do enjoy the food.
Pretty disappointing. Took a customer for dinner last night and experienced slow service and poor food quality. They are trying to be a fine dining restaurant, but it's in a Holiday Inn with crying babies in the restaurant and no tablecloths. We both ordered a filet, both were overcooked. I ordered mine Oscar Style...the Bernaise was certainly not homemade (maybe packaged and reheated?) and the crab had a funk to it....overly strong flavor. I should have complained but didn't as I was with a customer and didn't want to make a scene. Won't be back.
On our second visit here, we found the service to be lacking. We had to wait a long time for bread, a side we ordered never came. The server tried to be pleasant but we still found the service to be poor. The food was fair. My ribeye steak was very fatty.
I don't think we will go back a third time.
Don't let the stock photos of the food fool you. This place is a hotel lobby restaurant through and through. This is no "upscale" "fine dining" establishment. It's a restaurant past the double doors in the lobby of a Holiday Inn. The food is mediocre. $28 for a 1/8" ribeye steak. Gloopy sauce on their Drunken Steak. $3 extra for sour cream for your baked potato. And the cherry on top, the waitress didn't tell us that there was a cake fee until we saw it on our bill at the end of dinner. Please don't waste your hard earned money on this place... I've already wasted mine for you.
Waitress (Ana) was inattentive, delivered my order wrong and when brought to her attention she asked why we didn’t notice in an accusatory tone. A good waitress would have known that when picking up an order from the kitchen. Then after bringing out the right meal she commented “at least you got a free meal”?? She never apologized once, never had the manager come to our table, never offered to refill our drinks. The charbroiled ribeye was fatty, and not charbroiled (it was gray). Garlic mashed potatoes were warm at best. The turtle cheesecake was dry and crumbly. The vacumn cleaner being run in the next aisle was a big distraction. Overall a very disappointing experience for our “night out” which we don’t get many of.
First Time Diners Here
We had read some horrible reviews but there were also good ones so we took a chance on a rainy night to try this new place. Wait person Shauna was great! Food was pretty good and price included a salad and potato or pasta. Focaccia in the bread basket was just fair, but everything else was good. We had shrimp stuffed with crab and a bone-in rib eye steak, rare. Everything was made correctly and the portions were good too. Shauna kept checking back to make sure everything was ok and to refill water. No problems other than Open Table said the restaurant had cancelled our reservation, while we were sitting there eating. Can't figure what's up with that? The host fixed it and all was fine.
Good food, good value, nice environment , good location
I was sorely disappointed in the salmon I ordered. The portion was too small; it was overcooked and dry. The baked potato, however, was excellent. I was also irritated by the numerous interruptions by waitress and dining room manager inquiring how our meal was . . . made continuity of conversation impossible. I also thought that the meal was overpriced for the portion and quality. I don't think I'll come back.
