About
Our local go-to. Great food, wonderful, friendly waitstaff, reliably delicious!
Creative and tasty.
This place is so overpriced and the food is nothing special. I can’t believe it’s surviving in this neighborhood. We were the only people under 80 on the night we went so that my be why.
excellent seafood, well-prepared. attentive and helpful service.
Fun place! Good bartenders! We arrived early for dinner at opening for 5pm. A private party was ending and we were welcomed without hesitation.
Everything on the menu rates praise. The service is very good and the space is warm and inviting.
Very comfortable atmosphere. Excellent food! Friendly staff
Great service, ice cold beer, wonderful food, very fresh and tasty food, great atmosphere!
Great server, Ian!
The food was good. There were huge black gnats flying around our food and got on some of our bread. Other than that it was fine but I don’t know if I’d return.
This was our first visit and we definitely plan to return. I didn't realize the night after Valentine's Day they would still be serving a fixed menu, but it was reasonably priced and the options were good. I would say my ribeye was tasty but not a great cut - lots of fat (not the marbling kind) that had to be trimmed and discarded. My wife had the lobster which was decent but, you know, those are frozen, not alive moments before being served. We brought our desserts home because there was too much food; the bread pudding didn't fare well a day later although my lemon pie held up well and was enjoyable. Our waitress was great, and the people sitting next to us were fortunately nice since our tables were basically touching. It was basically designed for four with one upholstered bench and two chairs on the other side, but then the two tables moved 6" apart. No matter, it worked out well and I'm sure if we wanted more privacy they could have seated use elsewhere. So, in all it was fun and we'd return for the atmosphere. Maybe we'll fare better on the food next time, I'd have to assume their fish dishes would be fresh and well prepared. We'll see!
Very Nice, Everytime we have been the food has been great and the service prompt and friendly
We always have fun at Johnny's
Great Lobster and Oysters!
Great place with amazing food.
First-rate service from start to finish, great food, great drinks, kids loved it too. We absolutely love this restaurant! Can't wait to return.
We went to celebrate a birthday. Our waitress was amazing and made the night really fun. I’m sorry I don’t remember her name.
It was so delicious. Went for restaurant week. Was my first time. I loved everything I tasted and the service was so welcoming.
Perfect blend of Cashions and the old Johnny's. It's wonderful.
We had the duck and the breaded salmon filets. Both were excellent.
Restaurant menu was delicious. A terrific value. We would definitely recommend.
Love this place. Everyone should try it. Never had a bad dish here.
Fabulous restaurant! Superb cooking, wonderfully attentive and hyper-friendly staff, great ambience including fantastic musical selections. Fairly expensive but well worth it. Seafood and shellfish especially recommended (not for nothing the restaurant's name).
I ate here several times in the past when it was Cashion's Eat Place, which the sign reminds me. Everything was as delicious as always. We had fried oysters which were tasty; nice and crispy. I had the lobster, delicious, as was the accompanying spoonbread. My companions had the crab cakes which they enjoyed. We ordered Potatoes Anna for the table which were also excellent.
I had a nice glass of chardonnay with my dinner. My stepson had a beer and my husband enjoyed his mineral water.
(Note: No bread was brought to the table and we did not request any. Also, no special coffees are available so we were a bit disappointed, so we decided to skip dessert and coffee, opting for gelato next door. The tab for three of us, with drinks and tip came to $200. A good value. The music was pleasant and not too loud. It was a great evening.
A neighborhood gem. Best gumbo I’ve had in years. Service five star
Growing up in Massachusetts and spending summers on The Cape, my bar for seafood is set high. Johnny's got over it easily. Our table ordered oysters three ways, crab cakes and their lobster - for moi. Oysters - delicious, crab cakes - delicious, and my lobster could have been something I could have trapped myself off Menemsha - tender, juicy and gone too soon. Johnny's definately made it to my 'return to' list.
Food could’ve been better. Crab cakes had shells in it. Scallops could’ve been seared a bit more. Everything else was great. Loved the oysters!
This was our first visit back to Johnny's since they moved back to their original location in the Adams Morgan area. We were not disappointed, and in fact, we actually liked the ambience and vibe of the 'new old' place almost better than when they were over by Capitol Hill. We enjoyed an appetizer of the BBQ shrimp and grits, which were spicy and just enough to whet your appetite. We then each had the crabcake dinner - huge jumbo lump crabcake with fries and slaw. I'm not a huge cole slaw fan, but something about Johnny's special slaw makes me want an entire bowl. I asked for the recipe a number of years ago but never tried making it at home. So good... We had dessert - I opted for the awesome chocolate angel food cake with caramel sauce and my husband had the apple tart. Our server was a very pleasant woman, gave us a little history of the restaurant and having moved back to it's original location. The restaurant itself was a bit noisy but not in an obtrusive way. Would definitely plan on coming back when we're in DC next year.
Indubitably excellent food and service with generally fair prices and decent portions except for the brussel sprouts.
Had a great time as always. Food was superb especially the oysters and grilled calamari.
Went there for the first time and really enjoyed our meal. Will come back again. Great crab cake and pork shnitzel.
I have been a customer since the Cashion's Eat Place days and love the food prepared and/or supervised by chef Ann Cashion. Johnny is also a superb host and I always enjoy saying hello to him. Additionally the staff is the best as is the food!! The scallops were cooked to perfection as always!!
Consistently great food, service and ambience! A neighborhood favorite.
We had a wonderful time. Service was a little slow at first; perhaps extra crowded for a Monday night. We were rewarded for our patience. Delicious perfect food and lovely conscientious wait staff.
Our party of six included oyster lovers who really liked the fresh oysters on the half shell. We also loved the crab imperial appetizer but most other entree items were unremarkable. Not sure we have reason to return and waitress was often not around which didn’t help the experience.
Food is delicious, service was great. Quiet restaurant.
Wonderful as always. Kudos to John, Ann and their amazing staff!!
As soon as my party was seated, The Johnny welcomed us personally. Our waiter was amazing. He recommended dishes we loved and made us feel like family. Food and drink made the night perfect.
Excellent on all fronts...as usual.
Terrific restaurant, terrific food, superb service.
