Mother's Day Brunch
Solid well prepared steaks and seafood just beyond the throng oh Newport summer crowds. Eat for the food and service, not the views
Food was very good and the service was excellent as well.
Great food. Got really loud and the lights were a bit brighter than we’d like but the band was good and the place was nice.
Everything was good except my baked stuffed shrimp tasted really off. I could hardly eat it because it tasted old, like it may make me sick.
Surprised that it wasn't crazy busy on a Friday night. Food was excellent. We were a party of 5, had steak, lobster Mac and cheese, and fried chicken. Everything was perfect. It was all filling, didn't even have room for dessert. Drinks were great and service was super.
It was nice visiting the new location for the first time. It was reassuring to find the same items
Present on the buffet. The addition of the salmon and garnishes was a pleasant surprise, which we totally enjoyed.
We enjoyed our visit and will return after the summer rush has ended! Have a great summer!
This was our first time at Johnny's at the Atlantic Resort and we were very pleased. The new space is comfortable, clean, and on trend. Our food (lobster bisque, clam chowder, pan-seared scallops, and linguine with white clam sauce) was delicious!!! We will definitely be back!
Good, but sadly, not the old Johnny's. Without carpeting to absorb noise, it was very loud, especially since it wasn't crowded. During times when it is full, the noise level must be extremely high. The house specialty, Shrimp and Feta, was always my favorite, but the shrimp were much smaller and there was far less feta. The bolognese sauce had plenty of meat but lacked the robustness that a bolognese should have. Disappointing.
We were a large group and the staff was very accommodating. Half of us enjoyed the buffet brunch and the others ate from the menu. The food was good and plentiful -- the only issue was how long it took for the people ordering off the menu to get their food, which meant that the people having the buffet were finished before the others. Other than that, we enjoyed our lunch and ended up being there long enough to enjoy the first number of an excellent jazz ensemble!
We head to Johnny's for a great dinner with live music. The staff members are incredibly friendly and go out of their way to make you feel appreciated.
Food was good. Customers do appreciate transparency when asking about an item on the menu. Our server was detailed but forgot to mention the difference of price of 2 items which was a $12+ difference when we asked what is the difference of the two. We received the surprise when we saw the bill!
This was my first dinner and second experience at Johnny's. The food and the service were fine -- not extraordinary -- but very good. Worth the price.
What was off-putting about the experience cannot be fixed easily, but included a vast, uninhabited space (except for the bar -- at 7pm on a Saturday night), strange music, poor acoustics (one man who was dining across the room was not shouting, but his voice reverberated strangely around the room nonetheless), and strangely not oriented to a lovely view. When I last ate at Johnny's -- I took my office staff for lunch, and we ate on the patio -- the food was also very good, the service great, and the ambiance far more relaxing and evocative of a "seaside" resort setting.
The dining space seems to have been so oriented to large groups that to go there for a relaxing dinner for two -- especially inside the dining room -- was just unpleasant. This seems a basic design flaw, but for a $60 dinner for two -- with no alcohol or dessert -- a little atmosphere would have been nice.
It was a great way to celebrate my birthday!
Lunch with friends during Restaurant Week-great food and service! Enjoyed it so much we made dinner reservations for later in the week!
Great restaurant inside the Hotel with plenty of seating at the bar and in the dining area. I visited during restaurant week and tried two different entrees. The baked stuffed lobster and the Bacon wrapped sirloin both entrees were delicious. We tried the chocolate mousse cake for dessert which melted in our mouths. I would return to this place in the future.
We had excellent service and the food was great. We went during restaurant week and had the lobster. It was stuffed with more seafood. It was a great value.
Went for lunch, all was very good! Nice place, good band, good food. Will be back.
Full sunday brunch menu. Omelettes to order, carving station, eggs benedict, scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, fish, stuff chicken breast, ceasar salad, roasted potates, fresh veggies, petite desserts --- all very good. Food was not piping hot, but all fresh and tasty for 21.95 P/p
Ordered off the Newport Restaurant Week menu, backed stuffed lobster and bacon wrapped filet mignon for entree’s, which were excellent. Cooked perfectly and generous sized portion. Appetizers of lamb chops and shrimp cocktail were also very well done. Drink service was a bit slow but otherwise we had attentive service. Atmosphere was ok but would have appreciated that the glare from lights be dimmed.
Brunch was great ! Pretty much the same brunch as Atlantic Beach Club always was
Great food but service wasn’t the fastest, but they are nice. second time and service still the same. We’re halfway done with the meal before we had water.
Will go back just know the service is slow, but they are friendly and nice.
We were 5 people dining for brunch yesterday. It took about an hour to get our food. The server did not communicate with us about any delays. The food was good but I won’t be going back to wait that long for food again. When our food was finally brought out, one of the omelette orders was wrong. I had higher hopes for this restaurant.
We had a wonderful meal, with great service. The personal pizzas are wonderful!
"Hotel" feeling; food average.
I was very disappointed with the fact that my family and I drove up to Newport from New Jersey to spend Thanksgiving dinner with cousins who recently lost their mother and we were told the Buffet was over and what was left was a leftover Thanksgiving meal. When I saw what was being offered, I chose a lobster salad instead. In addition, when we tried to make the best of it and were socializing with each other, lights were turned off indicating it was time for us to leave. Will not attend this restaurant again.
Their economical Thanksgiving buffet was quite good. The service given the day was amazingly attentive. My husband and I went there the Sunday before to check out their free afternoon jazz which was also quite good. Wine and appetizers were reasonably priced. We will go back when we return to Newport in May for their early bird dinner specials.
Great food. Strange ambience. The food was creative and delicious. The dining room was strangely sparsely laid out and very loud. Needs work.
there was a great assortment of brunch items to choose from!!
We came for lunch during resultant week and arrived before the restaurant got packed, however it did get packed within about a half an hour of us arriving. We had to ask for things from our not so attentive server (drinks mostly) multiple times and the food took forever to come out. When the clam chowder and lobster bisque came out, there was a film on top of them like they had been sitting out for a while. They were luke warm and average tasting at best. One of the other appetizers was a sampler, and while the clam cake was delicious and at least a good warm temperature, the stuffie was cold, so we really weren’t sure if it was good or not. Our meals were all average, not cold luckily, but not hot. The dessert was well presented and actually very tasty. Would not be back, except maybe for drinks at the bar.
Great service-waiter very friendly and informative. Food delicious and generous servings
The food was underwhelming.... it was seafood... but the lobster was almost tasteless and swimming in butter..... not worth the trip....
Very nice. Great drinks. Came here for a quick meal It was very good.
Great food and good price. Would go again! One of the only brunch buffets in the area and great price.
Great dinner, loved food would definitely recommend to friends and family
My friend and I had salads; Greek salad with chicken and arugula with chicken and some fries. It was a nice lunch and Deb was super nice. Other staff also friendly.
Used to be a warm inviting place with good food
He sold the place
And built this place
Cold- literally and stark
Food was not good at all
Very disappointing cuz we were ( used to be- no more)
This was our 2nd visit . Figured the first time was a fluke. Nope. Actually worse!
Wont be going back.
This was our first visit to the"new" Johnny's having been to the original by the beach many times. This may have effected our visit ratings since it is a major departure. The environment was casual. Staff attention was very good but there were no more than 3 other diners present at any one time. This was mid afternoon, 3pm. The branzini was very nice but the Israeli couscous was slightly overcooked and was bland. The hummus appetizer was wonderful. The black bean hummus was adelight. The clam chowder was good.
Noisy. Food was pretty good but on the expensive side. There is little ambiance. Hard surfaces everywhere make it echo loud voices. The chowder was good.
It's a hotel restaurant that sometimes has buffets rather than the full menu as shown.
Last minute dinner reservation while visiting Newport. This hotel is only a few months old, so all the furniture is new and clean. Food was very tasty and the service was support although we can in very late, around the time they were closing. We were served and not rushed.
