Lobster Salad Roll
celery, mayonnaise, toasted hot dog bun
Fried Clam Strips
served with fries, coleslaw and tartar sauce
Cod Fish and Chips
served with french fries, cole slaw, tartar sauce
Pros: very clean and well spaced. Service was friendly. Cheese plate was nice, if cheese was cut a bit thick
Cons: service was very slow, there was a vent above us periodically spewing cold air on a single digit temp day. Food was just ok, nothing great. Fries were overcooked and clam strips were undercooked. Our order was clearly under a heat lamp for a while as plates were scorching hot. Unfortunately that mean my son’s sandwich bread was stale and tartar sauce and coleslaw on my plate were both crusted over
I mean, it’s just a hotel restaurant. As good as can be expected I guess.
Booked this restaurant on New Year's Eve day. Got a reservation with no problem at all. The service was outstanding and they had plenty of wait staff. There was no waiting for our food to be served and it was very good.
We had a wonderful family Christmas Eve meal.
My boyfriend JOHNNY and I went last night. Amazing food, great service. The owner Peter sent us a round of drinks on Christmas Eve! Definitely be back! Thank you Johnny’s!
Excellent food and service.
I had the turkey and it was moist and delicious. Our waitress Maria was attentive, friendly and had a good knowledge of the menu.
Great service and delicious food. Had both breakfast and dinner. Both meals were wonderful and the service was fantastic.
Large dining room with little ambiance. If you want seafood and atmosphere, I loved the Moorings on the water
Fried seafood no Good
Old cole slow
Only the ketchup was Good .
Sorry for this bad comment; the waitress was very kind
Great food and service
We truly had a wonderful experience with the Thanksgiving day buffet. Food was delicious and plentiful. They were accommodating to our party size and still had reservation availability close to the holiday. Beautiful views of the ocean from the 2nd floor dining hall
It was a buffet style Thanksgiving dinner they do once a year on Thanksgiving Day. All the food was delicious and hot and abundant. The wait staff was very attentive to your needs. The price was very reasonable and I would highly recommend going there forThanksgiving dinner
Thanksgiving buffet was excellent!
First time dining here and was looking for a holiday meal. The buffet was excellent and Lori was a very attentive server.
Always enjoy the Thanksgiving buffet at Johnny's. They were very late getting the butter out for the rolls (and it was still frozen), and the cranberry sauce out for the turkey. The food is always good.
As always Johnny’s served up a great meal and relaxing dining experience.
Best clam cakes we’ve had, other food also very good
Food, service, and ambiance were all outstanding.
Will be going back soon.
The wait staff was helpful. We enjoyed the food. It takes a little longer at this restaurant because they do weddings and have room service too; but it was ok
Food was delicious ! Our waitress Sarah was awesome , very attentive .
Music was over the top loud and not good
We went there for Newport Restaurant Week. The options were good with $35 and $50 options. Food and service were great!
We enjoyed a great dinner. I had the Fisherman’s platter my wife had the pot roast. Johnny’s always serves a great meal
Great sandwiches, very nice and professional server. Definitely go afain
Meh! Nothing about this Brunch to recommend. It was mediocre from the service to the food.
Brunch was okay. Servers were nice.
It took one hour and ten minutes to get the food and the appetizer came with the food not before!. The hummus was tasteless, the oysters so so, the muscles were a bit better.
We made a reservation and when we showed up the hostess told us to just go outside and pick a table. I wish she had shown us where to go because we ended up seated in the wrong spot for a long time with no one checking on us, and we were starving so this put a damper on the whole experience. Once we asked the bartender for help we received excellent service and great food.
The team at Johnny’s were over the top. Every member of the team hustled to ensure we had a great meal. The food was great and served hot . Great experience
Great food and water views as we sat outdoors. Waitress was very attentive.
Kids menu had many choices and great value
Maria was the Best and her trainee was on the ball!
The scallops were outstanding as was the pear bread pudding dessert. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. Don’t let the fact that it’s located in a Wyndham hotel put you off.
Johnny’s has great food and exceptional service at very reasonable prices. We enjoyed the fisherman’s platter and the pot roast. We have been dining here for twenty years (when they were down at the beach) so we know how well this restaurant is run.
Our reservation was for 11:30. We arrived a few minutes late, but were cordially greeted. The first disappointment was that we had requested patio deating, but the hostess told us that they don't seat buffet guests on the patio. (There were plenty of empty tables inside and outside.) The waitress also didn't seem to understand the policy.
The buffet food was indifferent and not particulary flavorful. The buffet opened at 10:30 and we started to serve ourselves at about 11:40. It seemed as though the food had been put in the warming pans at the opening and not refreshed after that. The pancakes especially were dry, and one was actually crispy around the edge. I didn't realize that the server slicing meat was also making omelets, but by then my plate was full, including eggs.
On the positive side, the ambience was very pleasant, the staff was very friendly and the whole operation was kept very clean. The bacon was nice and crispy and the coffee was good. The waitress returned to refill our cups but didn't ask how the food was. I appreciated that she was masked, and that there were sanitizer dispensers on the wall in several locations.
This was a special occasion--our 57th wedding anniversary, and I had included that fact in our reservation. On the whole, it was a disappointing experience for such a special occasion.
Good service. Food was fresh, hot.
Dinner was delicious! Service was amazing!
Great food, great service! Baked stuffed shrimp and rack of lamb were delicious. Mixed drinks were fabulous. Ended dinner with fantastic cremé brûlée and chocolate cake. A birthday dinner to be remembered. Stay out of the crowds on the wharf and enjoy the fire pits and water views from Johnny’s!
Ambiance was poor. Just a brightly lit, poorly decorated bland space. Wait staff and the wait for food was long. It was a $$$-$$$$ price point, but really a $$ restaurant. If you’re just looking for something casual, it’s fine. But not a destination at all and definitely overpriced for the product
