Taco Tuesday is a great deal! I highly suggest it to anyone in the CBD for lunch! I also love the fried plantains.
Great small plates and excellent guacamole. Tried a burrito and 2 tacos - everything was above par.
Asked the chef to specially make a batch of the hottest hot sauce/salsa and they did not disappoint! Impressive!
I cannot say enough good things about Johnny Sanchez! Servers were friendly and playful, and they explained everything to us. Skirt steak literally melts in your mouth and those were the best potatoes any of us ever had! Torta dessert was shared and absolutely loved by 3 of us, and the flan was the best I've ever tasted - the toasted coconut put it over the edge. We almost came back to ask if we could get more dessert to go!
We will definitely be back the next time we come to N.O !!!
Margarita was too salty/strong—not good like those I’ve had previously, and tacos didn’t seem up to par. Just not the restaurant’s best night, but, that happens sometimes. I’ll certainly be back.
Our 12 in our party loved the food and drinks. The waitress was very attentive, including answering questions and monitoring the food for someone with multiple food allergies.
Amazing food - great price and awesome service from Sam! We will be back.
Great food and service. Fun place to watch the saints game!
Excellent. Fully recommend for food and happy hour too
Excellent food. Excellent service. Great atmosphere.
I went to JC for my birthday celebration. When I gave my name, the hostess immediatley wished me a happy birthday and showed me to where my group was already seated. Our server was equally pleasant and went over the menu and specials of the day with us. I would definitely recommend this place.
We went right before the Pelican’s game. Atmosphere is just ok. The fact that the restaurant is in the lobby of a high rise limits the uniqueness of the property.
The food was good. The street tacos were tasty and since it was happy hour the price was very good. Beer was good although it could have been colder.
The service was what was lacking. It took about 10 minutes after sitting down to have our order taken. I absolutely hate sitting down and having to wait to even have our drink order taken, and especially when we had a reservation.
I initially ordered a Sazerac cocktail. Being New Orleans, this should be a pretty standard drink. I was served a glass of the bottled sazerac as opposed to the actual cocktail. We informed the waitress and she had the bartender make the real drink. It was hands down the worst Sazerac I have ever had. It tasted as if I was drinking a glass of black licorice. Food is great, but they need work at the bar.
Johnny Sanchez never disappoints! Great Happy Hour specials.
One of my all time favorite spots!!
Restaurant was highly recommended by friends. The crispy Brussels sprouts were probably the favorite thing we ordered. The food was about a three on my scale, but found the black and gold margarita not very good. Even though the restaurant was only about at half full, service was slow, and we were never asked about drink refills. Next visit to New Orleans, will try a different restaurant.
Excellent authentic Mexican food. Empanadas, duck enchiladas were a hit!
This place is amazing!! I took my boyfriend here for his birthday because he had been wanting to go for a very long time. Everything was excellent from the moment we walked in until the minute we left. Great food with very tasty and unique options served hot and fresh. Best service. Spacious seating. Comfortable. Low Latin music playing in the background. Awesome drinks! Just great! It was all great!!
Our waitress...she was very attentive in the beginning while we were waiting for the group, then she vanished into thin air once everyone arrived. After 20-30 mins of waiting, we asked the hostess to help us. The hostess was INCREDIBLE and very personable. Maybe it was an off night? My friends had been there before and said that it was normally outstanding service - however - when I went, that was not the case. It also took a long time for the checks. Overall, we spent two hours there. One of which was spent waiting on or looking for the waitress.
The food was pretty good. Not an elaborate menu, which I liked. Everything was reasonably priced for what you were being served. Brussel sprouts were my favorite. There were vegetarian options for my friend.
The restaurant was not super crowded or loud.
We have never had a bad experience here. The service is always outstanding and you can’t ask for better food!
Great food, as usual. Good service.
This was our first day ever coming to New Orleans and this place was lovely the food was fantastic as well as the service.
One of the best places I have ever ate. Thank you Aaron.
Parents weekend
Thought it was expensive for what we got. Also felt it was too spicy.
Had a lovely time with some amazing food.
To be fair, I was expecting a lot because we watch Aaron Sanchez on cooking shows. Disappointingly, many of the critiques he has for his cooks in his shows were evident in his restaurant. The food was mediocre with everything lacking seasoning. Tacos were dry and needed some kind of sauce or salsa. The waitress and kitchen were slow. Guacamole came out. Then, 10 minutes later, chips came for the guacamole. 10 min after that, we received the salsa but still no drinks. When drinks did come, they had no cups for kids, only tall water glasses without lids. Needless to say, it was spilled by my 2 year old and he was not happy about sitting through the meal in cold, wet clothes. We finally went to the pizza restaurant next door and bought a kids cup from them.
When we arrived for our 6:30 reservation, the restaurant was just finishing up with happy hour. When we left 2 hours later, all the empty tables were still in need of cleaning and dish removal. The bathrooms were filthy and without toilet paper. And, yes, it took 2 hours to have our meal of tacos, Brussels sprouts, and pollo arroz because service was so slow. I would have ordered a second drink but the waitress wasn’t around.
Food was really good, service was good, and it was a really quick place to grab lunch.
Clearly excellent food for a very good value. Taco selections are wonderful and imaginative. Note however: If you are going for an enhanced taco that is better that chains, this is a different league. Bring a friend. Our serve was extremely attentive.
My husband and I love Masterchef so we wanted to come check out this restaurant while visiting New Orleans. We each got a margarita which was made well and tasted great. We got the crispy Brussels sprouts, two meatball tacos and a steak quesadilla. Everything was delish! The meatball taco had such a good flavor and the crispy cheese baked on top of the quesadilla was perfection!!
Very cool experience!
We had high hopes but the menu was both overpriced and underwhelming. The interesting flavors on each dish (like adobe on the grilled fish) either don’t come through or aren’t added.
Chips and guac were great. Drinks really good. Entrees did not look like lovely photos on website and were not what was expected. Carne asada very very chewy.
I've been to Johnny Sanchez several times and it's always been great service and food. It was a special occasion yesterday so we had 12 guests and we were treated very well by Norma. The food came out in a timely manner and everyone was pleased with their meals.
This fun eclectic NOLA/ Mexican restaurant is delicious. We love it so much. Can’t wait to come again and hook it up to s Saints game. So convenient to the Super Dome . Every bight of food was delicious. The Flan was perfect . 💜⚜️
Food was excellent. Service was awful. It was a Sunday night and not busy at all. Our server was training a new server. She was checked out, low-energy, sounded bored, behavior was lazy. Her body language and the way she managed our table was very unpolished. She wasn’t good at offering suggestions or alternatives for the menu items that were not available that night. She didn’t seem like she should be representing a respected chef. She was too unprofessional to be training a new server. Unfortunately our experience with her tainted a night we had been looking forward to after travelling for several days.
Food excellent / Service unacceptable
Our server took long to come to our table and to check on us. We had multiple people that didn't receive food they ordered, he did apologize tho.
Drinks were delicious. We had the Oaxacan margaritas. I absolutely loved the smokey salsa and Brussel sprouts were amazing. I also had the shrimp and carne asada tacos, which were as good as expected. Our servers got off to a really slow start, not sure if it had anything to do with the fact our waitress was training a new employee, but they were super nice and a smile goes a long way. I would definitely come back.
A great restaurant with amazing service and delicious food!
Drinks were amazing. Chips & Salsa amazing. Everything else was over salted.
