Sometimes food delivery is slow as it was this time
Always wonderful. Outstanding food and service. Ate on the porch and it was spacious and clean.
Great service and traditional Italian cuisine, the kind I grew up on on Long Island.
Food was delicious, service was great, and loved the atmosphere!!
Johnny Costa’s is a traditional Italian restaurant that, in a day of food fanciness, is welcome. Good hearty Italian fare and great service, on this night by Johnny Jr. A salad or soup is included with the entree so it’s a complete meal. Also has a decent wine list with lots of Italian and other wine choices.
We prefer the large room. We were in the small one beside a noisy table. Food and service are very good.
The problem noted at our previous visit persists. Despite reservations, there was a considerable delay (30 minutes) in being seated. Then, slow service, attributed to the kitchen being "busy and backed-up." True, this was a Saturday night, but one doesn't necessarily wish to spend the entire evening at the restaurant. The food, once served, was excellent as always. Perhaps the solution is not to book on Saturday evenings.
Johnny Costa's is one of the few Italian restaurant's in the area that serves fresh homemade dishes including pasta and their well know brick oven pizza's. All dinners are cooked when ordered so don't expect a fast service meal. The entire staff is very attentive and this is a great place for a night out or a special occasion.
A Palm Springs institution. Good food, good service, popular with locals.
Great food. Iutdoor seating. Quiet. Good fof convetation
We've eaten at this restaurant many times and even at very busy times. Unfortunately our most recent experience included over an hour wait for our entrees, inattentive service, and a server who was arrogant when we asked, at last, about the status of our meals. He said the kitchen was busy and we should be happy with the "complimentary" salads, which per the menu come with every entree. I'm sure the cost of the salads are baked into the price of the entrees. We won't return soon, maybe never.
Johnny Costa's is one of our favorite restaurants in Palm Springs. As usual, the food was excellent. My Caesar salad was very good, just enough garlic to give it some zing. All our entrees were excellent. The service was a bit slow, and the waiter seemed a bit rushed, but over all the service was very good.
I did not like that I had to give my credit card in order to make a reservation. This is very rare on Open Table.
A fantastic experience, great food and service
Great service. Full bar. Vegan options. Lots of people celebrating their birthday, even the staff sang.
Food was delicious! The server was just okay. When we had trouble with our pepper shaker, she did not offer to help or replace it. She just commented that “A lot of customers complain about that.” Then she walked away. Also when we asked another server about a menu item he said, “How should I know, I am Mexican.” We found both responses to be outrageous, given the food service industry protocol and just plain good manners.
Looks like they have put more tables in restaurant and it felt very crowded! We dine there a lot but definitely felt too close to other tables now
Our visit was the worst visit to Johnny Costas we’ve ever experienced. It took over an hour to get our food after we ordered. The server never checked on until we made a fuss. Made excuses but didn’t bring our food. It will be a long time before we return to Johnny Costa’s.
This restaurant is a "must dine here" place. Established years ago and still maintains it's old school charm. Place was full. Daily specials are worth reviewing. I had ravioli stuffed with ricotta and lobster. Did not leave any of it to take home! When busy, expect the service to be slow and need to be patient as we had to be. Do not sit on patio but inside. There is no ambience outdoors. So you do need to visit Johnny Costas!
Delicious food and great service from Nick. I always enjoy a night a Johnny Costa's.
Really good eggplant parmigiana and delicious chicken francese. Both dishes came with a terrific salad and side pasta all cooked to perfection.
Very nice meal in a classic Italian restaurant quiet classic dishes soft music. Great place
The staff treat you like family. Sarah at the bar is amazing, and creates whatever you want. If you are lucky enough to have Johnny Costa Jr. be your server, the evening will be full of delicious and unique Italian dishes which pleases every palette. John's brother is the master chef, and will create dishes not on the menu.
First time. We will be back. Really enjoyed it for the most part. Service/food was a bit slow, but when things arrived they were tasty.
Another excellent dinner and evening at Johnny Costa’s. Highly recommended.
Everything was excellent as usual. Eaten here for 13 years and its always the best
I have traveled to 46 of the 50 states. I have eaten at Italian restaurants in all cities from from large to small and I would say this is one of my top favorites of all time.
Great, as always. Brought 3 with us, also now Johnny Vista's fans.
Took almost one hour between our appetizer and main course to come. Both meals had obviously spent some quality time under a heat lamp or something. Great Capreae sales and squash soup. Maybe find a better Italian place in the area.
Great service and tasty food. Always a favorite.
We dined on a busy night and found the staff to be attentive. The main dining room is first rate and the pace of service was not rushed. We had the special which was delectable. Great wine list. This is a popular place so we were happy to get in.
Always a sure thing. We return every year when in town and they never disappoint.
We really enjoyed our meal. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful. We could talk to one another without shouting and the music was great
We wanted to try a different place for dinner. So glad we tried Johnny's! It was a treat. We enjoyed the pasta primavera and the vodka sauce/penne pasta. Both were very good. We sat outside on the patio and it was quiet and shaded. The pear martini was another big treat! Quite refreshing!
Great classic Italian dining in a nicely appointed room. Always eat when visiting the desert!
We come every year at this time. We have always loved it, but it seems to be missing that authenticity it had; both in ambiance and food. The chicken breast was pounded thin like you would for veal. There is a reason you do that for veal, but with chicken you shouldn't pound it at all. All the flavors were great and we will be back, I would just like to see fresh pasta and larger mussels.
Excellent Italian meal!
We really enjoyed our dinner. A starter of fried calamari was delicious and we followed it with a well prepared house salad. Our entrees were the Fettucine Alfredo and the Steak Bordelaise, both of which were delicious. We skipped dessert!
First time and the service was quick and professional and the food outstanding. It was Valentine’s Day and yet they didn’t jack up the prices or force you to buy mediocre dishes at inflated charges like so many places do. The sinatra steak is beyond delicious and probably half the price of similar dishes at LA eateries- no wonder Palm Springs is so popular with Angelicos. We can’t wait to return and become semi regulars!
We always love this place. The food is always the best, you can always count on it being great.
We were really surprised as we were there for Valentine's day and it was still great food and service, even when it is a very busy holiday night.
Great spot with a marvelous kitchen and lively atmosphere. All service personnel are pleasant and professional. WE prefer the (small) patio, but everywhere is fine.
