The tiny table for two was way to small for two bottles of wine and an appetizer.

Good service, great steak and awesome appetizers. The only thing I would recommend for John Howie steak house if they could also provide steak sauce or make a steak sauce of their own.

This was my second trip to JH’s. My first trip was a terrible disappointment. However they sent me a gift certificate, which is what prompted me to return. And am I glad I did. Even though it was a super busy Valentine’s Day night, we had an amazing time! Our waiter and assistant were on point and the food was amazing! We even decided to try their bananas foster, which was delicious and always fun table side! Also don’t get me started on my 35 day aged steak that melted in my mouth as well as those amazing Brussels sprouts! Truly an amazing Birthday/Valentines Day treat!

We had a great time, the steak was cooked just the way we wanted, ehat I liked the most was our waiter was constantly near by and we didn't have to wait long to order our food.

The food and service were excellent. As New Orleans is home, and I just fine dined there in November, John Howie Steak holds its own when measured against my N.O. bar. Of couse we ended our meal with Bananas Foster...our 3rd table-side-prepared course.
Looking forward to next meal at JHS.

We have been to John Howie 's before, but always for happy hour. This time we went for an early valentine dinner. The food was excellent, the drinks were excellent, and the service was impeccable! Very classy place!

There is no question that this is a quality restaurant. Food and service outstanding, no detail overlooked. We were there on a non-holiday evening, and the place was packed---bar and restaurant. Our servers were quite attentive and friendly.

We marked down on "overall" and "value" due to our bill. It is possible we missed a notation on the menu that described a service charge that would be added to the bill, but if it was present, it wasn't presented in a noteable fashion. To our surprise, a 3% surcharge had been added to the bill to pay for health care, sick/safe leave, and labor costs! When you consider you also had to pay state sales tax on this charge, you are paying a lot of extra money on top of the already-expensive bill for food and drink.

It is our belief that management is 100% responsible for caring for their staff and making them content enough that they will stick around. This includes paying them a living wage and offering enough benefits to entice them to stay employed at your place. These costs should be figured into the total cost of running the restaurant and be reflected in only the prices the business will charge in order to cover these, plus make a profit. Costs of health care and other benefits, whether mandated by the city or state, are the responsibility of the business. If restaurants are finding their costs escalading, they will need to simply raise their prices. In today's economy, it is a little easier for them to do so. Customers would much rather see a small increase in the cost of their food, than get a blatant charge for something that is part of operating expenses. We fear that soon we will be handed a surcharge for cleaning costs (tablecloths, napkins, etc), plumbing (use of restroom), and electricity (lighting, etc).

We would still recommend this place if someone is looking for a classy restaurant, but people must realize they will be paying this added charge, which we personally take an affront to.
