We were excited to find a Joe's still open since most have closed down. Our order took over 45 minutes to get to us. The final bill was pretty high considering the food was just mediocre. We were not the only ones with this issue. Many other tables called the manager over.

We ordered cheese sticks and they took a very long time. Waitress never acknowledged this and they were barely warm when we finally got them. I ordered a salad. General iceberg mix with 2 grape tomatoes. No cucumber, eggs or cheese. Looked old and it had a hair in it. I did get another salad and it looked the same, but no hair. My husband had the captains platter with hush puppies instead of coleslaw. He got 2 hush puppies. Seriously, should have been at least 4 considering it was a side and sides are $4.99! His fish was good, but a little over cooked and mostly crust. Seriously reminded me of Long John Silvers! I had fettuccini Alfredo and it was very bland, I didn’t even get a to go box. We will not be back.

My son and I ate a Joe's. I received my food but his did not come out for another 30 min. I had to eat mine so it wouldn't get Cold in front of him. Then, we had to be there a half hour longer so he could enjoy his food delaying our plans for later that evening. The manager refunded my son's meal. Over all the food was good. The service could use some work. However, it was a Saturday night. We will come back.

We were there on Thursday evening during spring break so needless to say, they were packed! Our waitress was very attentive and we could tell she had a lot of tables. The kitchen was very behind and she let us know they were running slow so we could order accordingly. When another server accidentally ran our appetizer to another table she got the manager and her came and apologized without us saying anything to either of them asking where it was. Food was decently portioned to price and my fish n chips was hot and crispy. It did take us longer them expected to eat but we were okay with it so we told her not to worry about us, we were in no hurry. They did have a lot of Food delivery service pick ups though and I do feel the large amount of Door Dash orders is starting to overwhelm restaurants as more people are dining out. In house servers are paying the price for slow service to in house patrons. Restaurants need to find a way to cut off allowing orders when the kitchens are overwhelmed. This is not a place I would dine at in a hurry. We were seated a total of 2.5 hours due to the slow kitchen.

Horrible waiter , started out her convincing the kids they wanted the expensive light up cups without including the parents decision. We were there two hours never got refills on drinks or anything , husband had to go to the bar she was back for our order and told us that half the food there is bad. Once food arrived we never saw her again, waiting 30mins past when we were done eating just for a check, we used online pay just so we wouldn’t have to wait for her to come back whenever she felt like it to bring the check back. Also they were not that busy so not sure why service was terrible. The bar was great and fast.

We came in for the Galveston Restaurant Week. I ordered a drink. The server brought us water and then disappeared. After awhile, another server came out to tell us she was going to wait on us because the manager called the staff into a meeting. What? In the middle of dinner service?! I asked this server about my drink and told her we needed the Galveston Restaurant menu, and she didn’t think it was still going on (it was). She said she would check on the drink and get us a menu. After awhile, still no drink. The original server came back out, and I asked again about my drink. By this time, we had been there about 30 minutes. Did finally get the drink, but our order wasn’t taken for another 10 minutes. By then, we had been there 40 minutes, and this restaurant had very few customers….maybe 4 or 5 other tables, which another server was waiting on all of those tables. The servers were nice, and the food was good, but management needs to work on these problems. As we drove through Galveston and looked at the parking lots of other seafood restaurants, those parking lots were full. Joe’s Crab Shack has some work to do.

The Happy Hour at Joe’s is a great deal! They have fun cocktails (on the sweet side) and local beers. Not a quiet night out and not for the health conscious but certainly a fun go to for us when we visit Galveston!

Seafood didn’t taste fresh. Way overpriced. Had to wait with reservation. After seated, hostess came over to ask our name, rolled eyes and was mad cause we were seated. Waitress was nice but didn’t advise of any market prices. Won’t ever go back.

This was a Sunday evening and very few tables in the restaurant. We were sat and waited 10+ minutes before a runner brought the wrong meal to our table asking if we had ordered “X.” I explained that we haven’t even been greeted by our server yet. She promptly got our server, who in his defense had a large 10-top next to us and either did not see us or was not told we were in his section. Now I will say he was very kind, very friendly, and had he provided more attention to our table, this would be a very different review. He was apologetic, offered suggestions, and took our orders in a timely manner. After the meal did come (3 children’s meals, soup/salad, and crab legs), our server checked on us early into the dinner, but never came back. I had to ask another server later in the meal if he could ask our server to get more butter… I would have asked our server over to the table, but I honestly never saw him after only a few minutes into the meal. He did eventually bring the extra toward the end of the meal after several minutes. My wife’s soup/salad was bland and the kids’ mac and cheese meals were stale Kraft packets. I will say my crab legs were good, but I ran out of butter half way through and saved one leg for the butter late in the meal. We eventually ended our meal and my kids were getting impatient so my wife took them to the car. I sat for another few minutes, waiting for our server to emerge from the kitchen, and eventually had to ask the other server from earlier to again find my server to bring the check. It’s possible my server had tables on the other side of the restaurant, but there were just a handful of tables on the entire floor. We felt ignored throughout dinner, and I didn’t see much of him at the larger table either. Again, he was friendly and interested when he was at the table, I’m not unhappy with his demeanor or professionalism; just wish we would have seen more of him. I take issue when any table is ignored or “missed” constantly.

Sat at table outside for 10 minutes before I had to wave down a server and ask if he was our server. He took drink orders and appetizer order. At 30 minutes into our visit, we still had no drinks and I found the manager to tell him. We got another server who seemed great at first and then basically ignored us. We were there for a total of 2 hours and should have only been 1. Food was great once we got it, but the service was terrible! Manager never came back to check in with us or state apologies which would have gone a long way. Maybe sitting inside would have been a better experience.

Good evening, We dined at your restaurant on 9/17. We arrived at 7:20 for a 7:45 reservation but was sat down after asking the host how much longer at 8:30. It appeared that is how everyone was getting seated. Guest would ask and then immediately get sat. When we got to our table, it took 10 min or so for someone to greet us and bring 1 water, 1 unsweet tea. We also ordered a kids milkshake and a Cat5 drink. My daughter never received her kids milkshake until we were getting ready to leave after eating. This was close to 9:45 which was 2 in a half hours after our original reservation. My husband never received his Cat 5 drink after asking for it 4 times. We were given excuses about the staff being gone for the Managers wedding and how he had to get the ice cream for the bartender. After dining and as we are asking for the check, which was a hunt to do, he brings us a water downed milk shake in a kids cup. There was no cat 5 ever brought. My husband was looking forward to having a nice cold drink after the beach. My daughter had to share my water since she had nothing to drink. Well our food arrives and we eat our dinner. The food was decent but the quality was not as before. We don’t go out to eat often so this was a treat and we were highly disappointed. We even saw one worker bring food out for another table and he didn’t know where it went. So, instead of taking it back in, he let it sit on an outdoor table for almost 5 minutes. Following that, the waiter serves it to a table inside. Horrible service!

i always make sure to stop at Joes whenever i’m in town, and it never disappoints. the steam pots are always amazing, and the staff is very nice and helpful. our waiter didn’t check on us much after handing out food, and no one was given a refill on drinks, but that was my only complaint. will definitely be going back!
