The food was terrible. I ordered the Pirate Plate. The food was all grease. I was sick all night. I puked my guts out.
My wife ordered the Queen Crab Legs and they were not good. The corn was old.
I would not recommend eating there.
We had the crab legs - low country crab boil style served in a bucket. Really very good. Only complaint is that they serve weird tasting margarine instead of clarified butter with the crab. Would have appreciated a selection on the menu that included crab meat out of the shell so you don’t have to fight for your food. Mason jar Bloody Mary’s were fine. Side salad was fine. Chose a day with beautiful weather so that added to the outdoor ambiance. Sat right next to a music speaker and although a little loud, it was ok; snd this is coming from a person with sensitive hearing - and it helps to mask conversations between tables. Service was fine.
Nice, casual family dining setting. Service is quick and polite, covered outdoor seating available, nautical theme is nice and not overdone . Well seasoned seafood and plenty of it, prices are a bit high but right now all restaurants are.
had a great server that made up for the wait time!
Food was delicious and service was very good! Will definitely go again
Something is very off. The place was empty and things were very slow. The floors were grossly dirty that your feet stuck to the floor. Our waiter was ok but the food wasn't that good either
The food was great The waitress was awesome. The hostess and their sap need some work. We had a reservation still waited half an hour. They were not very professional by any means. We even ordered drinks from them. And they had no idea how to pronounce the drinks that we ordered overall I would go there again. But the hostesses need some work. First impression when you walk into a restaurant is the first person you meet is the most important
Food was awesome staff was great
Best seafood around. Great choice with moderate pricing
The manager was horrendous. Screaming at the staff on the floor in front of everyone. Spilled a coffee next to our table and took 10 minutes for someone to come and clean it.
My sister and I each ordered the Queen Crab Bucket with Old Bay Seasoning. The crab was fresh and delicious! Our server was friendly and gracious. We ate inside but they do have outdoor seating. If you haven’t been to JOE’s in a while, or have never been, please go. We need to keep the JCS open and prosperous!,
The shrimp & crab dip was good but the Atlantic steam pot was not cheap and not good. It was very bland the seafood didn't seem fresh and the dipping “butter” was disgusting. I don’t even think it was actual butter. My wife had the crab cake sandwich which she did not like because they used so much old bay seasoning it destroyed the flavor of the crab.
Our server was great. Made us feel comfortable. Always asked if we needed anything.
The food was not great, everything else was fine.
Waitress was kind even under pressure we went during Mother’s Day she was upfront and honest about the wait. Other waiters were not as gracious.
Even with reservations, we waited almost an hour to be seated. The host blamed the rainy weather. No idea how the weather would impact seating at a restaurant, but that's the excuse we were given. Joe's Crab Shack offers first responders a 10% discount. I showed the waiter my id and he said, "That's good enough for me." He later came back and asked if he could take my id to his manager, like I was some sort of miscreant trying to get something for nothing. The crab legs were good, but the fish and chips was so-so, and the desert menu was lacking. Probably won't go back after that experience.
It's was an amazing experience
Made a reservation, which they had me marked as already in a table when I got there and I didn’t mark myself present beforehand. Then had to wait over an hour to actually get a table. Def not going back to that facility. If I decide to to Joe’s it def won’t be this location. Manager didn’t apologize for his error just said we had to wait
Our reservation was basically useless. It was for 2:45 pmand we didn’t sit down until 4:30 pm. Will never go back on Mother’s Day, unfortunately. Luckily when we did finally sit down, our server was great and we had the good food we had expected. The whole point of using open table was to make a reservation! Due to social distancing they didn’t have enough space available to all the people. They need to honor their reservations if they want repeat customers.
My family and I had made reservations for Mother’s Day, knowing places would be super packed and we’d have to wait a long time if we didn’t have any reservations. Our reservations for Joes Crab Shack were for 2:30pm. We arrived on time only for them to tell us we had to wait just like everyone else. We ended up waiting an hour and half. Didn’t start eating until 4:30pm. On top of that, my mothers whole order was messed up and our waitress didn’t apologize and just said if I take it back you’ll have to wait a half an hour. None of the employees seemed to care or be compassionate of the fact. They all shrugged their shoulders and had attitudes. I am so disappointed and won’t be going back to Joe’s Crab Shack. Very unorganized and unprofessional.
The service was Terrible. We waited two (2) hours to receive our food. We spoke with a female manager about this who cared less about the situations. Her excuse was we are busy. We won’t be going back to this Joe’s Crab Shack (Clifton)?
The hostess dishonored our reservation because they were busier than expected.
When going on a regular day (non holiday) the food is great, the service is perfect, and the experience is pleasant, but going this past Mother’s Day wasn’t a great experience for my party of 8. Food took forever to come out ( including the appetizers) the lobster bisque soup tasted like tomato soup, and a few of the entrees were either over cooked and dry or left out too long before given to us. I did enjoy my meal, which was the crab daddy feast. The waitress was very busy but she did her best with us. My overall opinion of this place is I love it but I wouldn’t suggest going on a holiday.
It was great experience on the Mother’s Day with my whole family! I didn’t wait to get sat and employees were amazing! Recommended
Aside from having to wait over an hour for our food and our waitress being inattentive , we had a great time. I would have loved it if we were provided with Utensils like all of the other tables were given but I suppose they ran out ?
Very comfortable atmosphere and everyone is professional
Food was good service was not. Nobody came back to check on our table to see if we needed refills or asked if we needed anything.
The food just wasn't the best that night. I normally don't go that late but this one time the food wasn't that good. I probably won't go that time a night again.
There was a couple with a dog. Which wasn’t a service dog there eating. Their dog was barking and hair was shedding. It really ruined the entire meal.
Seating was excellent. Service wasn't bad. The Dungeness crab bucket was salty as hell, couldn't even eat it. The crabs were old crabs 🦀. The peel and eat pound of shrimp and the corn 🌽 were delicious, so was the appetizers.
Hostess not wearing mask and when she did it was beneath her nose. Many staff members had masks beneath their nose. Our waiter was good, pleasant.
Food was ok, requested melted butter for crabs. It was not butter. Not sure what type of artificial substance it was but is was not butter. My cocktail was pricey but not good.
We love Joe’s
The waitress did not come to check on my table. I had to ask the manager if she could bring me the bill, because the waitress was no where to be found. I order shrimp 🍤 and the shrimp was over cooked.
Love the coconut shrimp at Joe’s. Best in NJ! Always friendly service and plentiful portions.
It was my birthday
Food flavor very poor. Service poor.
Golden time are gone.
The food was amazing and our server was very friendly and helpful
Have a reservation at 7 pm Not table available until 30 minutes later.... poor customer service at front desk, very young welcome staff and lack of experience and professional treatment service not good at front desk....
* the waiter gave me excellent customer service at the table.
The food was delicious but the manager and one of the bartenders were not keeping their masks on. It made us feel uncomfortable especially since he was handling our drinks. The manager should be setting the tone and she was parading around with her mask under her nose and a few times talking loudly with it under her chin. Won’t be going back . This was the clifton location.
