I had really high hopes for Joe Beef given its reputation. Sadly it didn’t meet expectations as the food underwhelmed. Aside from the oysters, everything else we ordered was average. Lacking in creativity and flavor, I felt it didn’t deliver.

Wonderful evening at Joe Beef while visiting Montreal for the jazz festival. We had a table tucked into the back portion of the restaurant next to the terrace which was lovely. The service was great: attentive but casual and fun, not fawning. We shared oysters to start and had the seafood special which was sublime (whole trout stuffed with crab). Martinis and wine pairing were excellent. The only miss for us was the Parisian lobster salad. It didn’t shine like the other dishes. Joe Beef isn’t a cheap night out but it’s a very memorable meal!

This is NOT AN EXPERIENCE TO MISS! Everything about our visit to Joe Beef was beyond expectations. By far, the best service we've experienced in a while. Attentive and thoughtful, creative and genuine. My 10yr old twins were blown away - one even experienced their first (and second and third) oyster. The woman in charge of choosing their fish knows her stuff and even presented our son herself with his requested additional oyster - that is true service.

Wow! The meal was among the best I’ve ever had. Started with oysters, had asparagus as a side, it had hollandaise and crab meat, delicious. Filet Mignon was perfect. Good job guys.
