Great place to eat especially before a show at MAYO.
This is a unique venue with four separate bar/restaurants. The facility is quite stunning- The menu is small but enticing. The food was very good, service was iffy at times. Only disappointment was to be served a delicious $12 desert in a small mason type jar - only disappointing because there was not a plate underneath- Really didn’t want to place the spoon on the table or leave it standing up in the jar. Maybe I’m just old school, and follow the etiquette of Placing the utensil on the plate when finished with the course
stupid wine list.classic trying too hard as all wine by the glass was terrible! who buys wine from toronto?
I had a very nice time with family. The food and drink were very good. The only criticism was the noise level. The beginning of our dinner was very loud but over time it went down.
it was okay. It was Mother's Day but it just didn't feel special. Food was fine. Drinks were good!
I usually can’t say enough good things about Jockey Hollow, but it appears they had the b-squad on duty today. The staff was extremely uniformed about the dishes they were serving and my wife’s meal was burnt to a crisp rendering it barely edible. The waitstaff also bizarrely chose to remove our syrup and deliver it to another table while it was still in use. Seeing as how this was intended to be a special Mother’s Day dining experience, I think we’ll be passing by on our next meal.
The oysters are spectacular. So is the steak tartar! The pasta with rock shrimp -- delicious.
Service was spot on. Attentive. Suggestive. Concerned for our making our event on time. Great time !!
We enjoyed the Oyster Bar. Loved the oysters and the tuna was excellent. Disappointed in the Cosmo. Not a traditional mix and I wondered where the alcohol was! Friendly and attentive service was appreciated.
The service and food is always amazing… But my favorite part is the ambience. There is always something to look at. We like to start in the back bar for an interesting drink that never disappoints. And then make our way to our table in the oyster bar. Thank you JH!
Wait staff service wasn't up to it's usual standards. The fried chicken was not good - overly breaded and over cooked.
An absolutely great meal. Servers were attentive, pleasant, and well educated on the menu items. We were seated in a tight corner of the oyster bar which wasn’t the best but overall an amazing meal and great service.
Great scenery, great food, and great service always love coming here
My girlfriend and I ate at the Oyster Bar for lunch. The room was comfortable casual but the staff made you feel that you were in the most elegant sophisticated restaurant - attentive, quick, and pleasant. The food and drinks were delightfully luscious! Absolutely fabulous time. And the price point for 3 drinks, 2 entrees and a salad was amazingly reasonable. Will definitely come again.
Easter prix fixe brunch was delicious!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! We have been going to the oyster bar for years. The food is always outstanding and the service is impeccable. We had the pleasure of meeting Mike, one of the managers there who ensured our dining experience was exceptional. Mike and the rest of the staff worked endlessly to serve all the patrons in the restaurant, all while making everyone feel special. If you're looking for a fun dinner out, with an amazing dining experience and even better food, definitely check out the oyster bar!!
Wonderful dinner with friends. Everything was delicious, as usual.
We loved it. Food didn’t sacrifice flavor in order to be creative. They pulled off both. The wagyu tartare suffers from this a little bit with then addition of a deep fried beef tendon which you are given mostly to act a a vessel for the star of the dish, the tartare. Many dishes would have been ruined by this mis-hit but this beef was so good you could look past that. If you don’t really like mustard you won’t like it. But if you do you’ll love this dish.
Oyster choices were great. Tuna small plate was delicious. And the muscles were way better than we thought they were going to be. One of my favorite dishes.
The service would have gotten 4 stars. They were a bit on top of us with multiple employees. And they forgot our oysters but it was partly our fault. We didn’t even care we just asked for them and chalked it up as a miscommunication. But they proactively addressed it and covered drinks and brought an extra dessert. Totally unnecessary but something we won’t forget.
I can’t say enough things about the location. Inside and out. So I won’t. Go see it for yourself. The attention to simple detail is amazing.
It’s pricey. Some things unjustifiably so. Like the $12 bottle of retail wine they well for $12 per glass.
Worth it? Definitely.
Great food, great service, and a beautiful space.
It's always a joy dining here. As it was Good Friday, we stuck to seafood and ordered a double plateau (great bargain). The Sommelier Brian had two bottles selected for us before we arrived, a wonderful Burgundian Rose and a Vin Jaune from Jura. Both were spectacular and reasonably priced. No other restaurant in Morristown matches the quality and depth of Jockey Hollow and its 4 venues.
This was our first time at the Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen. It was wonderful. It will certainly not be our last visit! Thank you for the great food and service!
A wonderful restoration of the Vail Mansion, the atmosphere, service, and food exceed expectations.
What has happened to the quality of Jockey Hollow??
We have eaten there multiple times in the last few years but this time the food and service were very sub par.
An unsure welcome from the host staff, our crudités served with hummus were bendy (not fresh). Hummus was lacking flavor.
Octopus was over cooked and rubbery. Homemade gluten free pasta tasted like cardboard and was served in an extremely basic and unappealing sauce. Lacking depth of flavor.
Polenta with crispy broccoli was an unusual texture and color. The broccoli was soggy not crispy.
Service was slow despite the restaurant being only half full. Plates were very slow to be cleared.
The only positive about the experience was an excellent wine recommendation from the personable and knowledgable sommelier.
All in all an extremely disappointing experience at one of our previous favorite restaurants. We won’t be returning.
Food and service excellent
We had the Seafood platter which comes by another name, the oysters and all the seafood was fresh and presented very well. We were going to have more but this serving was just right for the two of us. Coupled with fresh Mimosa's with real orange juice, a great start to our Sunday.
We will be back for sure.
Re-visited this restaurant/bar on 3/30 after a long hiatus; having been dis-satisfied with the food and service a year ago. Pleased to report the service was outstanding; I regret I don't recall the 28 year old former basketball player's name as he definitely deserves a shout-out, here. Those of us ordering cocktails were pleased with the quality and presentation, prepared to perfection. Each in our party of four ordered a burger. Flavor good, but those of us ordering medium received more like medium-well or well done burgers (had this issue last time); I will order medium-rare the next time I get a burger, there.
We had a terrific meal! Waiter could not have been more helpful and pleasant. Food is superb, and the wine selection is good.
If they have the Beef Wellington and Truffle Sauce, get it!! It's amazing!!
Terrible terrible service paired with mediocre food.
Great food and drinks. Nice vibe and ambiance. Not too quite and not too loud. Vail bar was also nice.
This was my 5th time at Jockey Hollow and I have never been disappointed. The cocktails are cool and creative, the seafood is innovative and fresh, and the setting is...well, literally a mansion! Fantastic dining experience.
Excellent service. Quiet. Great food.
This was our second visit, with a reservation. We waited almost a hour to be seated. The food took 45 minutes to cook (salad, and ribs with fries), and my husband couldn’t eat his meal. It was too salty.
The servers kept apologizing and mentioned there is one kitchen for several dining options. Thank goodness we are not entertaining / celebrating an occasion.
The host (male with round glasses) was very negative and arrogant. I was shocked! This was our third time here and never had this treatment before. You should have a more pleasant person as the greeter. On a positive note, the bartenders were excellent and the wine pours were generous. Also the wait staff was professional and food was amazing. BTW... We sat in the Oyster bar area.
I’ve been to Jockey Hollow many times but this occasion was to celebrate my birthday with family which included a toddler. The restaurant and bar were surprisingly packed at 6:30. Despite this we had excellent and attentive service. Our family especially appreciated the vegetarian options such as cauliflower with harrisa , roasted squash and several salad options. We ordered a variety of entrees and all were excellent! Thank you to Jockey Hollow for making our celebration a success!
I recently moved out of the area and was in town to get together with friends. We were excited to have done good cocktails and food. However when we arrived for our 8:30pm our table was not ready. No big deal, had a drink at the bar. 9:00pm came and went and so did we. Perhaps my friends and I aren’t the typical clientele cause there surly was no urgency or apology from the staff. As someone who loves to dine, I understand these type of situation happens. I would just like to be updated periodically and given a real estimate as to when I will be seated. It is much better then be ignored. I know loosing one group of people isn’t going to effect such a popular place as this, they just need to be careful in terms of the identity they want to have.
Love! The Octopus! The Beef Wellington! The wine! The vibe! Grazie!
Very nice place! Can't go wrong starting with oysters, etc. Followed by the braised octopus which is really good! It's at the entree's where they fall off a bit....the waygu flatiron is pretty solid. We shared the special short rib wellington which was ok but for $110 I thought that was crazy. Very expensive place for the level of food you get but I guess paying for the ambience which again is really nice and elegant. If you order the right line up here you"ll be happy.
