When you are paying $35 and up for an entree you should expect a certain level of excellence by the chef/s and wait staff. Sorry to say Jockey Hollow has failed to deliver on the two occasions I have eaten there. On my latest visit, the food was OK at best, and certainly not worth the exorbitant price charged. No doubt the restaurant had had to lay off their chef due to the mandated closure due to C19, and perhaps they hadn't been able to find someone up to the task upon reopening. But then I remembered that the previous time I'd eaten here wasn't satisfying, either.
The service on my recent visit was inconsistent. Our waiter seemed like he was filling in for the day, ie, kind of clueless. However, another waiter was on top of his game, and took care of our wine request quickly and efficiently.
Jockey Hollow held out lots of potential but has turned out to be a letdown. I won't be throwing away my money there again. Such a shame there are so few decent restaurants in Morristown. There is only one I would consider top notch.
We were very early (2 hours to be specific), so they kindly accommodated our party of two, but only had space inside. While the property is beautiful, we were placed in somewhat of an awkward booth-style seating arrangement which wasn’t impressive. Our server was curt, lacked warmth, and pushed us to order our entire meal in the first five minutes of being seated. When I asked for menu guidance and/or flavour profiles, she cited off the listed ingredients mechanically. That said, the food was prepared well and plated beautifully. Wine choices were also wonderful. Good for neighborhood dining, not worth a rental car + drive from New York for a special date night.
Great allover! Felt safe and well distanced in these times
A friend and I had brunch several times this summer. The service and food were always excellent. We enjoy the lovely views seating at the patio. We tried the avocado toast today; outstanding! Loved the plating, taste, and combination of textures. We can't wait to have this toast again!
Excellent food and sevice. I loved the crudo appetizer and the duck entree, as well as the wine pairings recommended by Chris Cannon.
One of the more expensive restaurants in Morris county but they have kept their quality and service during COVID which is more than I can say for most of their hogher end competition.
Great for bottomless brunch!
Quick no waiting with reservations staff very attentive and delicious food came out quick
Great restaurant, great service, great food. A bit on the pricey side though.
Went for an anniversary dinner with my partner, we were both very pleased with every aspect of our time there. Service was outstanding, the food was perfect, and the overall atmosphere was amazing.
Such a pretty setting. Service was perfect. We asked to change tables prior to getting food (just because of the sun, which is no fault of theirs) and they accommodated us. My pea salad with trout was one of the best salads I’ve had, flavor was complex and delicious. My husband enjoyed his dish too!
It was very nice. My burger was a little under done, but otherwise it was a nice experience.
Food was amazing. Drink specials were great. Service was top notch!
Jockey Hollow continues to be a gem in Morristown. Lobster salad with tarragon is perfect. Wine pairings are always spot on. And the focaccia with tomatoes in the bread basket is incredible.
Beet salad in the beginning was delicious and cocktails just absolutely perfect. Everything from there was not as good. My fish was wayyyyy to salty and so so oily, chicken was pretty good, the burrata salad was also conceptually brilliant but too much salt mapxndjdde some of the other nuance disappeae
Great food and drink!
Great service. Excellent food!
wonderful staff, wine, food and views! thank you!
Amazing experience, waiters are amazing
The terrace and setting is great. The food is also very good. Two issues that drive my rating as good vs very good: 1. The time it takes to get the first plate and the time between the 1st and 2nd...too long a wait! 2. The lack of timely wine / water refill. Aside form those 2 issues, it is highly recommendable for a nice weather day.
Great service! Food was delicious. Philip and Michael are doing a great job here. Can’t wait to come back again
We had a delightful brunch complete with fresh oysters outside on the patio. We had attentive service, and received our drinks immediately after we ordered. The portions were not generous but the food was delicious. It was a picture perfect day so a beautiful view of the reflecting pool and garden made it memorable.
This restaurant never disappoints. We had a lovely meal outside overlooking the reflecting pool.
Aside from the unbelievable atmosphere and ambiance, nothing was truly remarkable about Jockey Hollow. The menu was limited. We ended up eating raw bar (excellent), beet salad (delicious), a burger (why here?) and lobster Mac (not impressed). The $17 martini was unreasonable. The service was attentive. Please expand to a few more main courses on the menu and we’ll be back.
This was my first time eating at Jockey Hollow, along with my husband. Having come from a pretty great food scene in Detroit and not really being able to head into the city with the current pandemic for a really great meal, we've been missing out on some inventive and excellently executed dinners. We love where we live (Bernardsville) and while there are some good restaurants, we miss the types of places we used to love to eat. This was such a refreshing experience for us. It was a beautiful evening to sit on the patio, the cocktails and wine were excellent, the food was perfect, and the service was vey attentive. So happy to have found this place and looking forward to returning.
Beautiful night on their patio. After months of so-so takeout from every restaurant in town, it was so nice to have wonderful food in a beautiful outdoor setting. Felt like a normal person again! Service was excellent. Tables were well spaced. Oysters were outstanding and fish was perfectly cooked. The boys enjoyed their steaks. Hope I can get a reservation again.
Absolutely fantastic in every category. The food, the drinks, the ambiance. The perfect place for a great experience.
Wow! What a place! The circular driveway and valet are more indication of the charm that surrounds this once revolutionary Inn. They have the BEST outdoor covered patio, not a tent set up, but a designated sexy dining area w/ spaced apart tables and drapes.....lovely area by the fountain to have a cocktail too. The service is fantastic and staff are always there to make sure you are having a fantastic experience. They have a great wine list and cocktail menu. The pineapple daiquiri is refreshing and delicious. The food is fresh and local and plated beautifully. The East Coast oysters and the Cacio e Pepe AranciniIt appetizer were AMAZING and I recommend them both. The Tile Fish with smoked clam & tomato nage, baby fennel, and fava beans was excellent and I recommend this dish as well. We skipped dessert but there were a number of tasty looking options and fantastic teas. Start saving your pennies for a lovely lunch or dinner here. It will be well worth your time and anticipation. Reservations are a must whether coming for lunch or dinner.
Food was excellent :)
Staff was very friendly and attentive.
We felt very safe eating there.
Outdoor dining due to the pandemic. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Cocktails were delicious. Our appetizers, entrees, and dessert were all excellent. The pace was just right. Not rushed at all but not lagging either. Finished up with after dinner drinks. I asked for a B&B. The bartender came to the table and said the they were out of &B but he would be happy to make me one with 50% Benedictine and 50% brandy. It tasted exactly right. The value for the meal was very good.
Outdoor dining at it's best. I felt like I was enjoying dinner on the grounds of a Tuscan villa. The food was outstanding and the service attentive and professional.
We arrived at 4:00, but the staff did not seem ready for diners; too many people moving around with last minute tasks which created an uncomfortable atmosphere.
Our appetizers and entrees were delicious and the drinks really interesting. The only disappointment was some of the desserts.
The food is always impeccable, but I was not impressed with the service at all last night. We showed up on time and we had to wait an additional 20 minutes to be seated. When asked about how much longer we would have to wait, a manager told us he doesn’t like to “kick people out”. I understand that due to Covid each table has an allotted time to dine but a simple solution would be to not overbook and make other patrons have to wait... Besides that, our first bottle of wine was not chilled so we ordered a second bottle right away so it would have time to be cold by the time we were ready to drink it. The bottle never ended up coming over to our table. Also, the carrot cake is a bit of a joke. Three minuscule pieces of cake? What’s the point? Would always come back for the food, but was not impressed with the service last night. Don’t make customers with a reservation wait. Don’t overbook your tables.
Came here for a birthday celebration. The outside seating is beautiful, the service was amazing and the food was fantastic. Tables are social distant from each other and guidelines were followed. We participated in the blind 5 course meal and it was so much fun! Highly recommend!
My wife and I went out for her birthday. We had the skate wing, diver scallops, grilled octopus and a salad. All delicious as usual. By far the best atmosphere of any place in town. Being set off of busy South St makes a huge difference. Great experience!
My birthday dinner was amazing. I can’t wait to go back for another special occasion! This time with room for dessert!
