Jockey Hollow Bar and Kitchen is veteran New York restaurateur Chris Cannon's four-part restaurant housed inside Morristown's historic Vail Mansion. The Oyster Bar at Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen serves an extensive selection of raw bar, salumi, cheese and small plates for the table in addition to farm-to-table entrees by acclaimed Executive Chef AJ Capella.

Guests are welcome to order cocktails from The Vail Bar or select wine from a 450 bottle wine list featuring over 30 wines by the glass and a rotating selection of sixty wines for under sixty dollars. Reservations are accepted 30 days in advance. Jockey Hollow also offers week of reservations in the Vail Bar, a 1920's inspired cocktail lounge located in the mansion's library.

The upstairs was closed (which I was not aware when I made the reservation) so sitting downstairs or outside was the only option. Our table was positioned in the middle of the room with servers and people walking around our table constantly. The noise level was high due to all the people talking in a relatively small space, making it hard to hear.

If for whatever reason they can't offer the level of service and atmosphere that they have in the past, then they either need to lower their prices or set things up better. Patrons don't want to pay $150-$200 for 2 and feel like they are in a pub bar with loud noise, difficulty having a conversation and be sitting in a make-shift space in the middle of the room with other diners and servers constantly walking around their table. If I wanted that, I could have just gone to a local pub and paid a fraction of the price.

The service was atrocious, incredibly slow. They brought food out at different times. My friend's drink was sub-par. In addition he asked specifically for no parmesan cheese on his. It came out 2 hours late with parmesan cheese on it. He was not about to wait another two hours! Manage never came over to apologize will not be going back!

A joy to have Jockey open again! What a thrill to savor the food (corzetti pasta is delish), to be the recipient of Jimmy’s extraordinary service at the bar, and to see the sparkle in Chris Cannon’s eyes as he jokes with staff and customers alike. We are so lucky to have this gem of a restaurant in Morristown.

Hostess tried to seat us in the blazing sun when the patio had open tables in the shade.

Waiter was very good. Drinks and appetizers are always very good but mains and desserts fall short. Ordered black Bass that came in parchment paper which turned the veggies into more of a stew. Very lacking in flavor.

Going to stick to appetizer drinks and more consistent menu items in the future.

Beautiful setting.

Service was excellent. We sat on the patio. Our food was good, the pork belly appetizer was excellent—the octopus not so great. For dinner, the shrimp and grits was excellent, and the pork was good. My only beef is that the drinks are $18, sheesh.

We were hoping for an experience at least as good as pre-pandemic Jockey Hollow..unfortunately if fell far short. We went there to have oysters and martini's and maybe a snack or two. We placed our order and awaited our dozen oysters and lobster salad. The seafood arrived and we discovered poorly shucked oysters (barely removable from the shell, as well as two shells that contained no oysters). The accompanying sauces arrived with no spoon and the cocktail sauce tasted to simple ketchup. We asked a server for some horseradish...before she returned with it we mentioned it to our actual waiter who responded 'we don't have any horseradish..many customers ask for it but we have none'.....then I spied the server walking to our table with horseradish...with barely one oyster left on the platter. The lobster salad was just horrible...big chunks of lobster, which under better circumstances would have been appreciated, but it was layered under a thick 'leek' vinaigrette with a few small spears of asparagus. The vinaigrette so overpowered everything that it was a true waste of slightly overcooked lobster. I was hoping for the lobster salad of last year, chopped and mixed with a lemon mayo and fresh tarragon...it was absolutely delicious. As a family from Maine we know how to serve a lobster salad. I urge the new chef to research lobster...(Pearl Oyster Bar in Manhattan might be a place to start!!). Oh, almost forgot...the Thai Pork Belly with roasted peanuts.....just an embarrassment to the kitchen. It arrived room temp, tough, no Thai flavor to speak of and the 'roasted peanuts' appeared to be dry roasted right out of the jar...the pork belly should have arrived at the table, hot and sizzling...this obviously was cooked several days ago...and truly gross. Needless to say, we won't be back.

First impression is parking. No valet is a problem. Having to go into a garage and find a place to park is very inconsistent with a first class experience-and you have to then figure out how to pay including having to download an app. Then taking the elevator to the restaurant is horrible. It is obviously a service elevator it smelled and was very dirty not customer friendly at all. If it I needed for service elevator during the day put up shields over the walls and on the floor-then when you are open take the shields and floor covers off; clean it by vacuuming the floor and clean the walls, focus especially on the floor buttons.
Then when we got to the restaurant there was confusion because they assigned us a table outside when we wanted to be inside. Never during the three confirmation calls that the restaurant initiated did they say anything about inside or outside. Eventually it all got worked out when another customer said they wanted outside while being assigned to the inside so thankfully they spoke up and said they would switch tables with us.
The hostess who was helping us could act and dress alittle more professionally. The table we got was very nice. In the corner of the restaurant. The next table was very close to us it practically like they were sitting with us. Our wait person was very nice. I think she was new. I had the pork and the way she described it vs the way it arrived was very different. Let’s just say she said it was pork that was off the bone, and what came had a rather large bone. As the restaurant filled up it was very very noisy. Overall the food was very good. The drinks we had were very good for two people and very disappointing for the third. The Manhattan was not up to standards of a good bar. Maybe the bar people need alittle more practice. And usually there is a cherry and this Manhattan had no cherry. The desserts we shared were ok. The Lemon Poppy seed cake was delicious especially the lemon curd. But it was hard to find the

I am so glad that Jockey Hollow Bar & Kitchen is open again !! They were humming last night, first night open in months.
The servers and sommelier were all in fine form, the new wine list is long and I wished I had looked it over before I got there. No worries, I put my trust in the sommelier and she brought me a very fine bottle.
There is a new chef and I am happy to report that all of the food we had was well prepared and delicious.

Brunch w my teenage children. I ordered the blueberry soufflé pancakes. While they sounded delicious and tasted good, definitely not amazing... they were TINY!!!! Teeny Tiny!!!
The four mini pancakes didn’t even add up to the size of one normal pancake. $26 for less than ONE regular size pancake!?!? Chris - you’re killing me.
So, won’t be going to Jockey Hollow for brunch any time soon. Very very disappointing.

Love the space, but the menu hasn't been very inspiring. Inside is noisy, patio is lovely, library bar charming. Cocktails /wine selection quite good as is service, just don't expect to much from the menu. Sorry really want to love the food here and we keep trying.

The service was absolutely abysmal. The waitress did not greet us, she did not read us the specials, she did not refill our wine, she did not ask us how our meals were. Horrible. The food was excellent but we've given this restaurant multiple chances to clean up their act and this will be the final time we dine there.

Lovely happy hour outdoors. The service and food were outstanding as always. Fresh and delicious oysters. My favorite and only place to go in this Covid-19 times. Planning to go back next week!
