The menu and service reflect the warmth and attention of being a house. Some regulars say "it has the look and feel of Greenwich Village on the Upper West Side"
We feature fresh pasta, artisanal pizza & other great Italian staples, like chicken scarpariello, eggplant parmigiana, & lasagna. We have many vegetarian and gluten free options as well.

FIT graduation another delicious celebration. We will keep coming back...
Lovely place, great food and service. Sat outside was a nice setting for a special occasion.
Just don’t even bother. Place should be shut down. Poor quality.Overpriced. Just -deliver-the- food -and -not -say -anything -to -the -customers wait staff. You’ve been warned.
An amazing and cozy family italian restaurant. All of the food tastes home cooked, and it is the perfect place for any Lady Gaga fan with many photos and memorabilia of her. Service was very good and my food was delicious.
The restaurant has a relaxed, friendly feeling. The food is decent and well priced.
Many good dishes to choose from. Pizza looked great.
Excellent service and food. Sangiovese was delicious. Food was served hot, but the bread was ice cold. Loved the calamari and veal. Sauce reminded me of grandma’s. Will be back again
Everything was fantastic, ordered a glass of wine with my meal and never got it...we sat in the back patio room and it got loud...but it was a great dinner and would go back
Perfect small restaurant in NY !
Food was amazing
Will definitely be visiting here again
A favorite whenever we visit Manhattan. Great home style Italian. Seafood Mac & Cheese is fantastic! Always busy so make a reservation.
I have been eating here for several years. When I was seated for my 6pm reservation I was told we would have to be out by 8 as there was another reservation for a larger party coming. Basically we were rushed through our meal and again reminded several times that we needed to be out by 8. This made our meal experience very uncomfortable and awkward. We were brought the check and told again we needed to leave. While we were reviewing the check we were then told the other reservation had cancelled so
we didn’t have to leave. The whole dinner experience tonight was awkward and uncomfortable. One of the reasons I enjoy coming back is the relaxed unrushed atmosphere. That was not the case tonight. I was not pleased with the experience tonight.
Sauce and meatballs were great. But our pasta orders were not Al Dente!!! We've had better in my opinion.
A lovely little restaurant, perfect location, cozy and neighborhoody. When I made the reservation I requested that our party of 4 be seated on their patio, and it was no problem - very pretty and comfortable. The service was terrific and the food delicious.
Food was about on the level of a good pizzeria...focaccia was like wonder bread.
Went with my son Mothers Day
Food was excellent
Best lasagne ever had out
Nice warm cozy
Def go again
Mothers Day lunch
Service is spectacular and the food amazing. The vibe is so chill and relaxing. Such a nice night out with girlfriends!
Open Table updated my reservation status and I just posted this review: I didn’t cancel my reservation at Joanne’s Trattoria, but restaurant claimed that I did, probably because they didn’t want me to give a review. I wasn’t going to submit a review but their cancellation of my reservation is clearly an attempt at censoring me. We arrived early. Even though there was an odd smell at the entrance, my daughter wanted to eat there. We were seated in Siberia despite there being MANY empty tables. My mother noted that there were only two tables between the kitchen and the entrance, and was worried about the lack of fire exists. In the meantime my mother and daughter ordered beverages. She asked for another table. The hostess told her there was only one other table. My mom went to see it and it was unacceptable. She asked the waitress for our check. I paid for the two drinks and tipped the waitress and then left. Hostess was surly and unaccommodating and this restaurant is a fire trap, as my mother was told there was no remote fire exit. My mom’s mother lost friends in a restaurant fire with a similar layout so it is an issue of concern. I am furious that the restaurant claims it is a cancellation because they were so unaccommodating.
Always friendly and consistently tasty food! Great value in nyc!!
Noisiest place I’ve been to. Couldn’t have a conversation with each other without actually yelling. Staff were nice. No GF options apart from some salads so just had cup soup which was nice.
We were seated promptly upon our arrival and taken to a nice table in the middle dining room. They have a very good wine by the glass menus so we ordered a couple of glasses of chianti. The food was excellent and our server was very good as well. I highly recommend Joanne Trattoria and its proximity to Lincoln Center is a huge plus.
Charming restaurant. Greatly enjoyed chicken with lemon and artichokes.
Pretty good for an Italian restaurant. My dish was just okay, but my friend's white truffle pasta was outstanding.
The restaurant is small and cozy. We chose to sit on what appeared to be the covered patio. The food was very good and the Martinis were massive!
Great food, friendly staff, good prices!
Noise level was appropriate
Nice and cosy restaurant. Food came out quickly and was very tasty....would recommend.
It was like eating dinner at my Italian Grandmother's home, everything tasted familiar. I liked that. The prices were very reasonable and the drink selection was great.
Absolutely amazing all around! Best red sangria I have ever had! Wish I could’ve met the Germanotta family 😉
Arrived early for our reservation, so we enjoyed a glass of wine at the bar. A nice wine list with a range of price which is always nice. Our server was attentive without hovering.
We enjoyed Joanne's on our last trip and were very happy that it was as good as we remembered.
Absolutely loved everything about this place from the food to the ambiance to the service !!!
Love love love !!!
Will be back very soon!!!!!
This food was not even close to authentic Italian food.
The food was terrible. Over cooked pasta, a tiny thin piece of fried chicken. Not worth the money at all. Incredibly over priced. The place is cramped inside, you're sitting right up against your neighbors at the other tables. One of the workers sprayed windex all over the table next to us as we ate - no thought or consideration that it would get on our food. So disappointing. Do not eat here.
The food and service was excellent! Highly recommend this place.
When visiting NYC we always include a dinner at Joanne Trattoria. When we went the other night I was very disappointed in the quality of the food. I always have ordered chicken parm and it has always been delicious and a generous portion for a fair price but last night the chicken was over cooked and dry , the portion smaller than it used to be and the price more expensive . With so many choices of a restaurant in the uws I don’t think I will return to Joanne .
Food was tasty
The food was very bland. I had the Scallop Linguine and my partner had the vodka Penne pasta dish. Both had zero flavour, the also arrived less than 10minutes from ordering so I assume they were not cooked fresh.
The starter was taken away before we had actually finished with it and our mains were promptly and abruptly placed in front of us.
The staff did not gain in any conversation, none of them actually seemed like they wanted to be there.
There was absolutely no atmosphere in the restaurant what so ever to the point it was slightly uncomfortable.
Being a fan of Lady Gaga I really wanted to love everything about the restaurant but unfortunately everything just fell flat of the mark
Happy hour deals/specials noted on Open Table when you book a 7:30 reservation are not actually honored at the restaurant (bar or table seating). Not sure if this glitch in advertising is Open Table’s mistake. The food was edible, but not great. The service, though well intentioned, was slow and inept. Our appetizers and entrees all came out at the same time. We were offered bread service midway through the meal. We were never asked if we wanted a second drink. With so many wonderful neighborhood restaurants in NYC and the UWS, Joanne’s is certainly not worth a visit.
The staff is nice and welcoming. The food is ok but too greasy and salty and nothing special.
The atmosphere is confortable and location nice.
They were especially courteous and helpful to our party during an inconvenient occurrence. For this we are eternally greatful.
The linguini with clam sauce was wonderful.
Fabulous authentic Italian cuisine
