Joanne Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
The waitress forgot our appetizers when she brought our entree
That was bizarre
One meatball appetizer? Our entrees were not very tasty
Our coffee was ice cold so we asked for replacements and the cannoli was pasty and not fresh at all
Extremely disappointing and angry we even had to pay for this meal!!
I consider myself a regular at Joanne. The Food and Service is always quite good. This past visit, my colleague and I tried a few different dishes and were delighted. The rice balls for app were excellent. For main course, both the linguini with white clam sauce and the veal Milanese were superb. We keep returning for the food!
The spaghetti and meatballs were amazing! The lasagna bolognese was good but portion too small. Overall the ambiance was cozy and charming. The only negative was the walk from the front of the restaurant past the kitchen (which did not smell great!) into the main seating area. Service was good. Table too small and crowded with stuff. But, we wld go back :)!
I went here with my boyfriend for our anniversary and we had a great time. Emily was a great server, she was kind and attentive with great recommendations. We both got the specials which were extremely delicious! It was on the terrace and it was warn and the ambiance was amazing!
Very great food and love the atmosphere there. Came from Florida on vacation and this was a main spot for me to visit. Was quite pleased with the restaurant itself. The waiters and waitresses on the other hand were all that good. My partners food was forgotten about had to wait 10 minutes for that and no one came by to ask how we were doing. But besides that loved it. Will be returning in the future for sure.
We greatly enjoyed our dinner. This was some of the best lasagna I have ever eaten. Our son got the chicken Parmesan which was also delicious. The ambiance of this place with multiple fireplaces made it cozy and warm. This is a must visit if you want the NYC small restaurant feel with great service and some of the best Italian around. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
A good variety of pastas and entrees; very well prepared. Presentations were very attractive, amounts were generous. Restaurant beautifully decorated for the holidays. Tables were very close together. Serving staff was professional and courteous, but seemed overworked toward the end of our visit (about 6:30pm on a Friday).
The best way to describe how we felt after being seated at our table for two, was that of comfort and friendliness. This was followed by careful consideration of wait staff and savory food and drink. I look forward to many more evenings at Joanne Trattoria.
This is my third visit to Joanne's and it was delicious as usual. It was very busy as Happy Hour was goin on. I had the white blend and my business associate had the red blend, both were delicious. He is from an Italian family. His mother said you can tell how good an Italian restaurant is by the meatballs. So we ordered them for an appetizer. They were very good, he said his mother would approve. I had the seafood risotto and it was great. The service is very good and the bar tender and servers were busting their butts. Will definitely be back.
Had a decent pre-theatre dinner. Very nice waitress who had opinions about what was good and what was less good, always helpful. Food was acceptable - not great but not bad; happy to eat it. Nice atmosphere, we got in and out in plenty of time to make the play. Would go again.
The grilled scallops are delicious. Perfectly grilled for a light crunch with a delicious creamy sauce and arugula. Papa G's chicken is my goto here. The pepperocini peppers and Italian sausage offer a great taste with the sauce and chicken. The red velvet cake was very good as well. The house wines are also good paired with the entree.
Sad to say, Joanne was a big disappointment. I've been told that the bread served at the beginning of the meal is a proxy for what is to come -- and the bread served was stale "focaccia". Later, I saw 30+ pieces of this bread sitting in a strange clear storage tub near the kitchen, which may have been a heater. Wine glasses were a bit cloudy. The Super Tuscan ($65) we ordered was served warm. Caesar salad was GREAT (the best part of our meal). Worst part is coming...and I'm bummed to say this as a Lady Gaga fan: the Joanne meatballs and spaghetti (my girlfriend ordered), tasteless and heavily breaded meatballs. More garlic than meat, it seemed! Even worse was the eggplant parm. Served in a small dish, the 4 mini eggplant slices were hard (maybe frozen?) and unappetizing. There was so much cheese on top of these little eggplants, I had to cut chunks of it off and put it on my bread plate. Waitresses were very nice and the Christmas wreaths were a nice touch, but I will never come back here to eat. Perhaps a glass of prosecco at the bar? Yikes!
As always, Joanne Trattoria exceeded my expectations on my last visit. I have dined there many times during 2017 with friends. Everyone comments on how good the food is and how attentive the servers are. At our last visit, we had the pasta special which was outstanding. However, The hot sausages with penne are my go-to dish. Not to be missed.
Food was uneven. Cornbread served with drinks was stale. Salads were overpriced for what they were, main courses were fair. Dessert - turnovers - was meh - tasted stale and industrial.
Ambiance is pleasant and location convenient to Lincoln Center, which would be the only reason to dine there.
The restaurant was very cute and cozy. Was fun to see pictures of Lady Gaga’s family. The food was authentic and delicious! Loved the casual atmosphere and overall layout of the restaurant. The only thing was the service was just ok. The servers were friendly but not very attentive.
The experience was good overall, however the food was a bit pricey for the quality. The service was very good and the staff were all nice. The house wine was excellent, and well worth it. The tomato sauce (family recipe) was average at best. Honestly, it wasn't one of the better Italian restaurants as far as food quality. The sauce was somewhat bland, but overall okay. I enjoyed the experience, but I would rate the food as average.
