Kind of expensive for the food
When walking into the restaurant it has a wonderful ambiance, a beautiful fireplace and seems very inviting, however, the servers station is in the middle of the restaurant and you can hear every conversation they are having. The food was decent it just lacked a lot of flavor. The restaurant was dead at 6:30-7 on a Sunday night. the restaurant wasn’t awful, i would just rather spend my money on food that is amazing, rather than mediocre.
Birthday Dinner. Great vibe. Food was delicious. Gaga wine 2017 private collection is great!
My mom & I thoroughly enjoyed everything about our dining experience. We were seated in the back section of the restaurant, which was super cute and cozy. Our waitress was very friendly, patient, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was absolutely delicious. My mom had the spaghetti and meatball, I had the pork ragu fettuccini, and we shared the calamari with hot peppers. The drinks were also great.
This is a very good neighborhood restaurant. Good chiice for red sauce when going to Lincoln Center. Accommodating and fairly priced.
The food was very good. Ambiance is nice. A bit too loud. And a bit too cramped. We went at 9:30pm and didn’t have anyone next to us, so had a place to put our coats. It is pricey so what you get.
My wife and I live in Toronto and went to New York specially for our 10th year anniversary. The reason why we chose Joanne was because, when we had our first kiss (the day we celebrate our anniversary) Bad Romance was playing on the dance floor. So we though there wouldn't be any other place more appropriate that to celebrate our life and love together.
Everything was amazing! The food, wine, location, ambiance, service, desert... We was so cozy and romantic. We will definitely come back on our next visit to the city!
It was good but it was not great like it normally is. The portion sizes were 1/2 of what they were the last time we were there and slightly more expensive. They have no kids menu or kids pasta which was kinda eh as we always visit here in the city and did not remember that. $24 for a pasta for a kid if we wanted one, they did finally offer us a 1/2 order but it just seemed odd to not have 1 or 2 kids pasta offerings as there were plenty of kids in there. Also the bottled water tasted like tap just put in a Joanne’s bottle it was not sealed bottled water like expected or what you get in many other places in the city. We had just had fabulous bottled water the night before at another Italian restaurant in town and it was 1/2 the price and true bottled water, also not cold at all at Joanne’s . Not to mention we ordered the bottled water and the back serve the brought tap and started pouring it (iced down and cold) but I then said we ordered bottled water and he just replaced one glass and dropped down the Joanne’s pop top bottle and never offered to pour etc. just very different service than what we are used to there and quality. The actual server was not bad but she was not great.
Good food and excellent service!
Very romantic restaurant. Arancini Rice balls are delicious! The mussels in white sauce were excellent! I could drink the sauce!!! Instead I mopped it up with the crunchy bread! Excellent service! And the courtyard was nice and cozy!
It was an excellent meal. Especially the spinach and artichoke ravioli
The food was fine, the place was nice. Overall good service. The food was garlicky (in a good way), and our waitperson accommodating. Their support team seemed rushed and wanting to be elsewhere.
For close to Lincoln center where the choices are few and everything seems overpriced, I guess we'd go back.
Food, service and ambiance were amazing! Proposed to my partner and he said yes! It was perfect!
Cute cozy place a must visit with a small crowd . Food was great and service was as well . We'll definitely be back !
Joanne Trattoria is the perfect restaurant if you're going to Lincoln Center or the Beacon theater. The ambience is extremely cozy and warm and the service was excellent. The food is real Italian and the red sauce was amazing! Every dish we had was excellent.
Good food. Didn’t care for seating next to kitchen area. Very noisy, cramped, and hard to hear others at table.
Food was decent, service was good. However, the tables are jammed in and the noise was unbearable. We will not go back.
The food and drinks were great! We enjoyed our dinner. We will be back!
High prices for low-quality food. No one to seat us, even though a waitress insisted we go back to the main station and wait. Once we were seated, the service was fine but the food wasn't. We won't return.
It was fine
The service was good the foofd, OK
It could have been noisy, but it wasn’t
We were 3 ladies dining
And we enjoyed it.
A friendlier service staff would make a difference.
Had a great server who gave me opinion that was right on. Great food and friendly staff
We love Joanne’s and go there regularly after a movie nearby. Food is reliably good, noise level is reasonable and price is fair. One of our go to places.
Drinks and dinner were delightful!
We were a little early for our reservation so took a seat at the small bar and enjoyed a glass of wine and beer in happy hour which were $6 or $7. When we were seated we had a nice table for two at the back of the restaurant in a small courtyard area which was beautifully lit and we were just by the fire which was nice. Food was excellent and service was also very good... I had the special ravioli and my husband had lasagna, the desserts were also very nice ( tiramisu and red velvet cake) but big portions and too much to finish. A lovely evening we would definitely go back!!
Amazing and I got to meet Lady Gaga’s parents!
Even very busy, service was excellent and conversation was fine. The food, as always, delicious. Thus time we shared the lasagna which was terrific. Go - enjoy the atmosphere and the food.
Amazing experience. Everything was great. Delicius pasta (one of lady gaga’s favorite), all the service was great and a fairy price.
Ambiance and decor are adorable. Service was excellent. Appetizers and wine were excellent. Entree was good but slightly salty for me.
This was our first dining experience in NYC. We came solely because it is Lady Gaga’s parent’s restaurant, but we’re pleasantly surprised at the quality of the establishment. Seafood Mac and cheese didn’t stack up as well as anticipated but the spaghetti and meatballs was excellent. Service was very pleasant and ambience is delightful. You pay the price but overall was a wonderful experience and would recommend going.
It was great! My friend and I went for dinner to celebrate my 30th birthday.
Moms 95 birthday
Staff was very nice. We arrived almost an hour early for our reservation and they sat us right away. The meatballs were incredible tasted like homemade meatballs. The red sangria was also very good. I got the chicken parm which was very good and my husband got the ribeye steak which was huge and cooked to perfection. Will definitely be going back soon. I highly recommend Joannes.
We got a hotel recommendation for Joanne's - Lady Gaga's upper west side italian bistro. The restaurant was fairly empty when we arrived but did fill up by 8:00. It took way too long between each step - for example, a request to see the wine menu again took around 5 minutes. It took 45 minutes to get food to the table. The focaccia had the texture of bread that has been microwaved but was served cold. Our taste of the two whites sold by the glass was so bad that we didn't order wine (this has never happened before in my entire life). However, the charred calamari salad was very good, and the artichoke chicken was at least a B+. The ambience was fine if felt a little manufactured rather than like something that has been there for years, nods to GAGA/Little Monsters, etc. There are so many great small italian restaurants in Manhattan, I would skip this one.
Nice pasta: orchiette with sausage and broccoli rabe: yummy. Gnocci bolognese also good. Wine: generous. Noise not too bad! Only negative: focaccia served to begin was terribly stale and dry. But overall a nice, reasonably priced before Lincoln Center dining place.
Cozy restaurant, but overpriced. Food ok.
No owner or manager on site. Service awful. Emily, server states gen manager Laura not available and works when she feels like. Owner (lady Gaga family) absentee owner and not involved. Found it hard to believe all the bs that was presented. Food was cold, and both server and bartender could care less if the experience was not good. Such a shame. Would never go back. Very embarrassed that I Chose this place to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Was not even acknowledged, and when I mentioned it to server Emily was given a very snide remark
Our first visit here and a great one concerning the food and service. Only 'issue' was a large private party that some people were less than polite and made things a little tough on the employees and those of us who were there to enjoy dinner. Despite that, we had a terrific experience. We will be back. For those that don't know, this is owned by the parents of Lady Gaga.
Excellent food & service, great experience! My favorite place to eat in NYC!!
Delicious food with friendly service. Drinks and bartender deserve notice too.
