The service was sub par… had to keep asking for our waiter. It could be due to staff shortages but, it ruined the experience. The food was delicious!
Good neighborhood dining. Something seems to have changed with the food. The cauliflower crust pizza was fantastic with sausage, pepperoni and meatball. The pasta was NOT good. The papardele was fair at best. The sauce was dry, pasta noodles not good and a total disappointment. We may come back again but not sure
The place looks good and our table was ready when we arrived. There's a little bar in the front where you can order some drinks while you wait for your table. Cocktails can be really expensive so I recommend Waiting and ordering some wine while you eat.
Went with 3 friends for a birthday celebration, but we were disappointed to find the food was mediocre and the service was not so good for the price.
In our case, the waiter accidentally accidentally dropped 1 of our wine glasses and it spilled all over our clothes and shoes, but he didn't even say sorry or offer some towels to clean our clothes. He just went on to clean the floor and bring another glass of wine and charge it of course.
We were convinced by the Lady Gaga popularity and visited the restaurant, but wouldn't recommend it to any of my friends. Sorry.
Pre-pandemic, I went here often; post-pandemic I have been twice. I know that restaurants are having a difficult time finding good staff, but this was ridiculous. Our server was very friendly but seriously "challenged." She forgot orders, had to return n often for us to remind her, and main courses were served about one minute after our appetizers were served. We had to request a bottle of wine three times.
Appetizer: crispy calamari were anything but crispy. White bean stew = disgusting.
Main courses: hanger steak, requested rare, was served almost well done.
The entire ordeal was absurdly prepared and presented. Sadly, I won't be returning.
This had to be one of the best restaurants I have ever been to, and created the perfect night for my anniversary.
Sorry to say worst dining experience. Only thing worse than the food was the service. Bread stale, food dry and overcooked, pasta dish never arrived with food, could not even make a cosmopolitan stating “they were out:” I hate to write a bad review but was like flushing $300 down the toilet and embarrassing as we were taking friends out. Avoid.
Trash restaurant. I’m a huge Gaga fan, was in town and thought I’d check it out. I Thought I scored some sweet reservations to this place and when I arrived, me and another table were in the only ones there. Fully empty restaurant. Amazing staff and service, but the food, menu options and ambiance are lackluster. Better food at 7/11.
Spaghetti and meatballs merely okay. Gelato wonderful. Diet Coke completely flat. Ambience fantastic especially back patio.
It was very disappointing as all of the menu items once received had little to no taste. I would not recommend as it was also expensive for what is being offered. Sad dinner on a Saturday night
Every trip to Joanne is lovely. The food is always amazing as well as the service. We love it here and make sure to stop in for one meal every time we are in the city.
We are in NYC celebrating our anniversary--we planned to come in April 2020 for our 25th but alas it's well over 26 years! We have wanted to visit Joanne Trattoria for many years and are so happy it finally happened.
We were looking forward to dining here for a friend’s birthday who was in town for the occasion, and had booked it weeks in advance. We received an email earlier in the week to confirm the reservation, and confirmed it with them. We arrived today and the door was locked. A man came out and said it was closed til “3 or 4 o’clock”. We showed him our reservation for noon, and he shrugged his shoulders and closed the door. Disappointed - I loved bringing guests here when they visit town, as a big fan of Lady Gaga, in spite of the food and speed of service being solidly mediocre. This took care of that — we’ll never come back, and will tell those visiting town to avoid it at all costs.
The only thing good about this place was the outdoor patio and our waiter. Food was……..
The food was excellent, the service impeccable, and the ambience is cozy. We were celebrating a friend's birthday and our waitress made it a memorable occasion.
Quite good, though I’d stay away from the plant-based meatballs, which were dry. The private label Joanne Sangiovese was a nice surprise. We’ll be back.
Unfortunately, we had a really terrible experience. We had a reservation, that the restaurant was not prepared for outside. We sat down and ordered a cauliflower pizza. They brought out a regular pizza, without telling us they were out of the cauliflower. The rest of the appetizers came out and were mediocre.
The entrees took 1.5 hours to come out and our pasta was forgotten. When the pasta with garlic and oil came out, the oil was completely burned. The restaurant ultimately gave us dinner on the house.
It was my mom’s birthday and unfortunately it was just not a success.
Everything was really good. Very close to five stars, but I am tough judge. Would definitely recommend, however.
Way too expensive
Fantastic food and atmosphere! Will definitely come back to again.
Have been here a few times and it’s always fab. They don’t have a bartender right now but still managed to make two great cocktails. Our waiter went above and beyond and was very kind. Wouldn’t recommend coming here the night of a Lady Gaga concert as the crowd is clearly there just to try and see her family and a bit over the top. I’m a fan but you can be respectful too. Delicious authentic Italian food.
I was there just before I attended Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga’s show. It was the perfect evening for it too. The staff is so nice and very accommodating. Def going back do an 8th visit! One of my favorite go to places in the city to eat❤️!
Joanne Trattoria is a superior restaurant. The service was great with very friendly staff. We felt welcome from the second we entered. Our food took awhile, but was well worth the wait. The spaghetti and sausage was some of the best pasta I ate to date. I know when I come back to New York I will return.
Love Joanne’s!! Food always delicious.
Excellent once again and the entertainment was wonderful, music by Paige Corwin. A great place to catch music and have a wonderful time and food
Delicious and authentic Italian food. Great ambiance and attentive staff.
Haven't been here in many years. Very nice people. The food was delicious: I had spaghetti and meatballs (best in many years!) and my wife had delicious Eggplant Parmigiana. Went well with house sangiovese, which was very good. Finished off with delicious cannoli, also something we have not had in ages. We look forward to returning soon now that we live in the neighborhood.
My wife and I went to Joanne trattoria, (owned by Lady Gaga’s parents) for dinner tonight. It was the last time We ever go there. We have been there many times pre-pandemic. I ordered a gray goose gimlet, (Vodka and ROSE’s Lime juice). They made it with vermouth. The waitress (in training), was the bartender and the bus boy. To add insult to injury the chicken Parmesan I ordered not only was tough but had gristle throughout, and it was a very small portion. When the hostess came over to clear the table she said how was everything? I said everything was terrible. it’s the worst meal I ever had and I’m never coming back. she laughed and said thank you, thinking I was kidding but I wasn’t. when I got the check they added a surcharge to the Check. I guess it was a pandemic surcharge. despite all that I did leave a very good tip. but I’m never going back there again. The worst. Which is very sad because we’d like to go there in the past. There were people waiting for tables outside. So they probably wouldn’t care if we ever came back. I just felt like venting… And going out for a slice of pizza after…
Comfortable setting, attentive service. Some disappointment with the food for one of us. Tricolor salad was fresh and substantial enough for two of us. Spaghetti and meatballs were tasty. The tilapia fish coated w parmigiana cheese was not good: fish was dried out and seemed old and the coating was thick and breaded and I had to just peel it off in pieces to eat any of this. The cheesecake for desert tasted gummy and of raw flour. Perhaps the other fish dishes would have been better.
Brought our 13 yo granddaughter for dinner. We had a great meal and she loved seeing the Lady Gaga pictures. We're the "cool" grandparents.
Took us 2 1/2 hours to get served
Wonderful waiters & waitresses !
A love band was also present , they sounded amazing we had a great first time there and will be returning!
The staff is very attentive and friendly. The food is very good, at a very good price. The ambiance is warm and inviting. It’s an excellent place to dine.
went with friends to this restaurant, and i will again and again and again.
best ambiance, food, and i always get some tea on lady gaga.
what more could you ask for?
The service was fantastic! Food was cooked to perfection! This was my 7th time being here and it felt marvelous to be back! And the owner Joe was so sweet! I’m def coming back again!
Great Italian food and wonderful service. The patio is cute and the restaurant itself is beautiful!
"Joanne" has very good, mostly traditional Italian food. I like it because they don't try too hard to make the food creative - it's just simple and delicious. Due to worry about the pandemic, we don't eat in restaurants much. The have an outdoor area which is nice, and it was fairly quiet on a Sunday night.
The food was wonderful. We ate out back. Nice view.
Can’t wait to come back!!
We loved our waiter.
This place was amazing. You must try their salted caramel gelato
Great place in a great neighborhood. Good service and excellent menu. Good Italian food.
Excellent restaurant, food was great, live entertainment was amazing, great service and great ambiance, look forward to coming again.
