JJ's Bistro de Paris
Try the brie en croute or the charcuterie plate to start out your meal at JJ's Bistro de Paris. Choose from French dishes like the duck leg confit served topped with port wine reduction or the moules frites. The restaurant also offers a wide variety of homemade desserts. If you're craving something light, try the crepes du jour or the quiche Lorraine.
great dinner in a quiet atmosphere! Wine selection is great!
JJ’s serves the most no-nonsense straight up French classical cuisine and is a gem! Service always impresses, at once attentive and amiable. We wish them continued success for many years to come.
A very interesting find in a small strip mall. Small restaurant, tables nicely spaced, not crammed together. Not many patrons. The service was quick and responsive. The interior of the restaurant has been hand painted to look like a Paris street scene, with shops and businesses portrayed. The perspective is designed to look like street corners when there are actually no corners. I had to get up from my table just to convince my eyes that the wall was actually flat. Anyway, the food was excellent, the service attentive, and the server friendly. Great wine suggestions. I don't live in Jacksonville, so I hope I have a chance to go back.
We visited JJ’s for Valentine’s Day. The food was excellent however the menu on Open Table and their website wasn’t what was offered. When I asked about the mussels my wife and I were looking forward to and didn’t see on the menu we were told they were no longer available. A little disappointing, but the lamb appetizer was excellent as well.
All in all a nice dinner and we’ll be back.
I was very excited about the potential of a good French restaurant close to me. The online menu looked good, and I booked a table for two for Valentines day. When we arrived at 7pm the place was only moderately busy (and was easily 60% empty by the time we left). The first turn off was they were running an abbreviated menu for the special day with a few new items, but mostly just a few of the exact same items on the regular menu but with price increased by 30%. The next turn off was for a fine dinning establishment where I expected to easily spend 200$ for the two of us, they had a paper cover over the table cloth.. the only place I expect to eat on paper is at a crab cracking restaurant.. The food was really plain and mediocre. The soup could have come out of can for all the flavor it had. For restaurant that was not full, it took forever to get food. We were at the table for 30 minutes for bread butter was served, and 45 before salad came out, and a full hour before soup appetizer came out. The only upside to the evening was that our server was very warm and polite. All in all, not someplace I could recommend to anyone.
The food and desserts are so good. The restaurant is cute and quaint. Very french style
Wonderfully relaxing. Could actually talk with each other without shouting. Food was great, as always, especially the appetizer cheese plate. The staff is very attentive, gracious and helpful. And of course, the dessert was remarkable. You should go eat at the bistro!
We really like it. It was busier, more lively, louder. Good service. Great to have a good, casual enough French restaurant close enough.
I'm sorry to say that our overall experience was mediocre. The service was great as was the wine selection. However the food was a real disappointment, except for the desserts - which are outstanding.
Really liked it. Great service, good food, nice interior. Loved my pomme frites. Definitely recommended.
My wife and I have had the pleasure of dining at JJs a number of times now. On this evening, they were nice enough to allow me to drop off some flowers in the early evening and then had placed them on the table for our date night. The escargot, soups, and seafood has been wonderful on each of our visits. I can’t wait to try the New York strip
The food was ok, nothing spectacular or unmemorable. Based on the reviews, I was expecting more authentic flavors and seasoning. It is ok.
Service was great, it just that the food for the price I was paying for it wasnt at the same level.
Very nice surprise. Great French food!
What a disappointment. We arrived to a virtually empty restaurant at 7pm on a Saturday night. We were seated against a lonely wall despite the restaurant being empty, which we did not complain about. However, things went downhill from there. The waitress did not know the wines. We asked if there was a sommelier and she said yes, but he was busy cooking and despite our requests she refused to let us talk to him. Through a lot of awkward trial and error we found a decent wine. Then the food arrived, and my wife’s beef bourguignon was dry and mealy. The most surprising thing, and the reason I am writing this review, is how we were treated after that. At first we politely pointed out the problem but after quite a long time it was clear we were being ignored. We then asked again that the problem be addressed (my meal was finished by this point but nobody had addressed my wife’s problem). This time the manager came out again and acted quite put off. She argued that actually the food was quite good and that we must be mistaken. We weren’t asking for any favors, but typically when a customer is unhappy with their meal it is recooked or some other accommodation is made. Not here. We were treated extremely rudely after that and the manager walked away in anger apparently because we had questioned their quality in the first place. We found this to be shockingly bad service and will never go there again despite it being a ver short distance from out home. Not sure how they stay in business.
Our group met for our annual Christmas dinner at JJ's. Jodie, our server is among the best, as she is so pleasant, so knowledgeable, and did not rush us in any way. Our food was divine.. the filet was absolutely perfectly cooked and so delicious; the salmon was wonderful as was the steak salad, and steak with frites was superb. The peanut butter/chocolate pie was the hands down favorite dessert, but the strawberry grand marnier cake is also quite excellent. They have an extensive wine selection, and the ambiance is so nice....such a welcome change from the noisy newer restaurants of the Town Center. JJ's is a little pricey, but in our opinion, well worth the quality of food, atmosphere and service. It is one of our favorite go-to places for an enjoyable evening.
All the food was excellent! We had French onion soup, steak frites, scallops, veggie entree and bouillabaisse.
Always an excellent experience with service and ambiance!!
outstanding cuisine, country pate was delicious & the onion soup is a must have
Fantastic food and wonderful service!
Very friendly and helpful server. The seafood risotto was amazing! Lovely wine recommendation!
Will eat here again.
It is simply the best French cuisine in Jacksonville. Great wine selection, excellent food and even better dessert.
Celebrated my daughter’s birthday. Food was impeccable, the service was thorough and timely, and the desserts were absolutely incredible. A very nice evening enjoyed by all....
The food and service at this gem are always outstanding! We consider it our neighborhood restaurant. Unfortunately, a lot of other people have discovered it and it's getting busier! Just be sure to make a reservation. Tried the baked brie this time and LOVED it. And, don't even get me started on the pom frittes.
JJs has consistently great food and the best desserts in town. It is quiet and comfortable. Not too fancy but upscale.
Great food and excellent ambiance.
This place is amazing. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. The food was beyond what I thought it would be. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in town!
Best secret restaurant in Jax. Great food, atmosphere, and Wine selection.
The food and service were outstanding. Very quiet and relaxing atmosphere too. We will be going back more often.
My husband and I and another couple had dinner on a Saturday night at JJs. All were pleased with our starters - escargots, shrimp bisque, French onion soup, and vichyssoise. The next course, a green salad with house vinaigrette, was unremarkable but fresh. Entrees were duck, salmon, and coq au vin and were all outstanding as was the service throughout. We finished the meal with coffee, cappuccino, bread pudding, and a cherry tart. The only less than stellar part of the meal was the higher than expected price of the wine. Considering JJs sells wine to the public at retail, we felt the mark-up for those who have dinner in the restaurant was excessive. All of us have been to similar restaurants where patrons are permitted to buy wine at retail or with a small ($10) corkage fee added. It appears that JJs adds quite a bit more than that to retail. Nonetheless, we highly recommend JJs for a relaxing evening with great food and nice ambiance.
We just moved to the area and stumbled upon JJ’s. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was pleasant. We’ll def return!
Fantastic food and service. The Steak Frites really hit the mark. No complaints!
Had the duck legs very good.save room for dessert do many to choose from. All looked good had a hard time deciding!!!
With the exception of them running out of salmon, the food was excellent and the service very good
Worst ever service experience on a Restaurant. Manager (or owner) suddenly decided to close earlier (we were only customer in the premise) so we were rushed to make orders as a result. During 1 hour (approximate) we had time to have wine, starter and then soup but decided to leave after subsequent request to rush any other meal as kitchen was closing suddenly at 8pm. I elevated complain to Manager and his response was that this Rest was small
Business and not a place to Study (he certainly cannot dictate what we do during the meal as long as we keep consuming). His rudeness was evident. I certainly cannot recommend this place and anybody with the bad luck of being only table being served in the Rest could have similar treatment. Looking at prior reviews in the Open Table site now, I realize this situation has occurred before.
This is a definite come backer you think your in Paris
Finally we have found a REAL French restaurant here in North Florida. The decor is very nice. You feel swept away to a Paris bistro.. the menu is VERY French and Very good. We will DEFINITELY be back.
This restaurant is one of Jacksonville's best kept secrets.
The food and ambiance was amazing as usual however the wait staff turned on the overhead lights, turned off music, started putting up the chairs on the table, and began mopping all before close. Yes we were the last table but it was 9:35 on Friday when they began doing this. They close at 10:00pm on Friday and Saturday nights. We were eating our desserts and finishing the last of drinks so it wasn’t because we were taking our sweet a$$ time. I didn’t say anything at the time but it was rude and I don’t expect that from an establishment of this kind. Not sure I’ll be back, pretty disappointed.
