JJ's at the Copper Pot Ratings and Reviews
We made a reservation for 7:15 but didn't get seated until almost 8:00. Meanwhile most of the dining room was empty. I mentioned this to the staff and was told the owner required them to have people wait. Nice.
Our entrées didn't arrive until 9:30 and my filet was overcooked. Maybe because I had made no secret of my frustration at waiting?!
Staff is always nice, but for the price and hassle of finishing our meal 3 hours after our reservation we probably won't be back.
We are weekenders on the west side of the lake and it's too bad because this is the only table-cloth restaurant on the west side.
Arrived on time for our reservation but were asked to wait about 20 minutes in the bar even thought there were empty tables and they were not that busy. Service was good. We, however, had to wait over an hour to get our main course. We had prime rib and salmon. Both were good, but not outstanding. We go to JJ's once or twice a year even though we come to the lake every weekend from March to November. We would go more often if the value justified the prices they charge and if they could speed up the time it takes to receive your order. Our reservation was for 7:30 and we were not finished with our dinner until 9:30.
The calamari and salad were excellent. However, we arrived at 5:20 and did not get entree until 6:40. When served main course, the wife's lobster was good but my ribeye, which was ordered medium well, was nearly raw in some portions. I tried to flag our waiter down with not much luck. Finally got another waitress to come over and she agreed that my steak was not cooked properly. She tracked down our waiter but that took another 5 minutes. I remained concerned but pleasant and he told me he could take it back to kitchen but because it was busy it would take another 20 minutes to cook. I told him as long as we had been there, and the wife was 1/2 thru with her dinner I could not wait that long. He said OK and left. I at least expected to be compensated. He came back shortly with our ticket in the full amount and did not even ask if we wanted dessert. I paid the bill in the amount of $118.00 and change even though I was not able to eat my steak.
Finally tried this restaurant after driving by so many times, incredible everything from service to the food incredible, the salad with homemade croutons and dressing, bread and dipping sauce, then came the prime rib and baked potato and roasted carrots oh it didn’t end there, the best bread pudding I have ever had in my life, my compliments to the chef!
This place is considered upscale for Lake of the Ozarks, but it is not fancy or pretentious. A broad, appealing menu with much better choices than the ubiquitous burger-and-wings places nearby should appeal to couples and families. Our filet mignon entrees included a good salad served family style along with freshly baked bread. The steaks were properly cooked to temperature and the meat itself was tender and trimmed of fat and membranes. Our excellent server was attentive without being overbearing. Overall, a great meal at a fair price.
My wife and I went there to celebrate her upcoming birthday. We were very pleasantly surprised with the menu options, the atmosphere, service and overall ambiance. I thought the recipes were creative containing some great versions of some familiar staples for the less adventurous and some more unusual and unique menu items which my wife and I love to try.
The small plates allowed us to try a variety of menu items without over loading on food. Although we didn't order any of the entrees this visit, they appeared to be high quality, well presented and reasonably priced.
We drove about 30 minutes from our lake house to JJ's. Well worth an even longer drive. If you haven't tried this place yet, I think you're missing out.
We had friends from Alabama here and their anniversary is the same as ours, it was their 40th. and our 34th., 10/ 21. We always enjoy JJ's at the Copper Pot. It was their 1st. time and we all left with full belly's. The food as always was GREAT, the service was AWESOME.
THANK's Al & Beth
Though our reservation was for 7:30, we were not seated until 8:10, so make sure you don't count on this restaurant honoring your reservation in a timely manner. This is a consistent problem.
Once we were seated the service was good and the food was GREAT.
We will return due to the quality of the food, but will expect at least a 40 minute wait.
Loved everything except the catfish. The fish tastes "dirty" and had a bad taste. The waiter and the cook said they tastes it and it was fine but was taken off the bill. My husband has the prime rib and it was the best he has ever eaten. I will order something else when we come back.
As always the wonderful salad is served ice cold with fresh green pepper and the one ingredient no other restaurant uses anymore...fresh chopped celery! Top it off with the ground pepper served in a small dish (so you can actually determine how much you want vs other eateries it doesn't even come out) then finish with the homemade buttermilk dressing! Being that I prefer sirloin, the copper cut is the best, well seasoned, consistently served steak period! For dessert...if you don't have the bread pudding and coffee ventriculator...you just missed out on the best grand finale ever! Did I mention the batter fried lobster! A must have. Share one! Also share a bottle of Silverado cabernet... around $70 and well worth it!
Was nervous about going to a steakhouse I have never heard of but was shocked at what happened. AMAZING food. I have never had dinner at a place where everything from the salad dressing to the steak to the sides to the drinks to the dessert was PERFECT. The waitress was wonderful. I never had to ask for anything. She was right there. My son who is 5 and can't sit still very easily was eating everything up! She may have had to bring him two bowls (yes...two bowls) of ketchup but he was good and quiet and loved it! Every time I go to the lake, I will be going to eat at JJ's. My husband and I love Maggiano's. This place had the SAME bread as them. AMAZING! We love Hereford House. This place is better. GO. Why haven't you left yet? Go...now!
A very nice dinner had by our party of four. Downside, they need new steak knives and we were celebrating my cousins 40th wedding anniversary that I had shared prior to our arrival. A bit disappointed that her and her husband didn't get a desert to share for their special occasion.
